Has any of you seen this documentary on Netflix? It try's to paint Gawker as the victim and thinks Hulk Hogan is a threat to the first amendment. All the while outing a gay man against his will.

Yeah it's bullshit. I'd recommend checking out Ryan Holliday's book: Conspiracy if you want a way better telling of the story. Some of the writing choices are a bit dodgy and pretentious but he tells the story in a way more in-depth way that's far more scathing of Gawker's fuckery. Unfortunately he does start bashing Trump at the end (Thiel is a fairly major Trump supporter) but it's pretty brief. Not that there's anything wrong with bashing Trump if you don't like him just that he wrote the book in 2017 so the criticisms feel dated already.

Jews trying to rewrite history again

What did the book say about Hulk Hogan?

Holy fuck

That he was dimes incarnate and he was going to go over gawker because the hulkster always went over brother

How dated?

Writing a book about Hogan going over gawker need to bash Trump in it. The absolute state of people with TDS

hogan was hated long before this shit

Remember when Hulk Hogan was an American hero? How did it all come to this

Authoritarian leftists got their own medicine.
Don't support censorship if you want people to actually feel sorry about your failed garbage media closing down.

>host man's sex tape
>he tells you to take it down
>refuse
>he sues you for it and you get assblasted in court for your double standards
What's the problem here?

This isn't really about Hogan this more about freedom of press. No matter who's side you were on or if you liked Hogan or not, the documentary feels on sided. And only half of this is about the Gawker trial.

He was always a shitty wrestler and a detriment to every organization he's been in, but in this case it was literally Gawker's fault.

READ THIS

Gawker was completely in the right, privacy is a bourgeois notion

Nah the book mostly takes Thiel's/the Hulksters side although while he does try to be even-handed it's fucking impossible to make Gawker not seem like a bunch of incompetent self-absorbed fuckwits.
Eh. He just bitches about Thiel being a Trump supporter for a page or two - it's not that big but it kinda jumped out to me - very late 2017 talking points kinda deal.

Does they book state other controversies or other sketchy stuff Gawker's been involved with?

jews

posting to remind us of the times when we realize that good things can still happen.

HH brother

Who's that guy second from the right? Looks kind of familiar

Mostly took his side and illustrated just why, in detail, Gawker publishing a highlight reel of illegally filmed sex-tape which they received from someone who was trying to elaborately blackmail Hogan was so reprehensible and dumb. It even goes way into the specifics of why Hogan's best friend Bubba the Love Sponge (legal name) filmed it (short version: he's an actual cuckhold) and how Gawker fucked up every single thing they possibly could fuck up before going to trial.

Holliday managed to get interviews with Peter Thiel, Nick Denton (former Gawker owner) and Hulk Hogan and it lays the entire crazy story bare. I personally feel Thiel was completely in the right but the book does lay bare just how elaborate and secret and kinda nuts his whole conspiracy to destroy Gawker actually was. For instance he vetted the jurors so the majority of them were overweight women because it turns out fat chicks get really uncomfortable when it comes to illegally filmed sex tapes.

When is it abourgeois notion?

Oh yeah. The author tries to be nice to Gawker but it's fucking impossible because it's Gawker. It's worth noting Ryan Holliday wrote Trust Me I'm Lying, a book that basically tells you how to manipulate shitty clickbait websites to get them to inadvertently sell your shit. He's way more critical of Gawker there and in other stuff he wrote but he had to be kinda nice because he managed to interview loads of the former higher ups. Even then Gawker were so shit that just simply explaining any of the shit they did over the years, with no judgement they still come of as the biggest pieces of shit in history.

Kevin Nash (aka Diesel)

So Bubba basically ruined Hogan's career with the sex tape and the N-Word tape when Brooke Hogan became a coal burner shorty after, which BTW does the book talk about that tape?

when this came out, it was shilled as much as tiger king. so yes.

Yep. It goes through literally everything that happened. There's an entire bonkers FBI sting operation involving the tape that I never knew anything about - that's actually where the n-word tape came from, that sex tape itself is long gone the audio is actually from the wire Hogan was wearing.

He got raped by niggers, that's probaby why

Could you list the things Gawker did in the book like on here?

The Gawker shit was garbage but the Sheldon Adelson parts was actually interesting

The famous incident that took place in 92

>For instance he vetted the jurors so the majority of them were overweight women because it turns out fat chicks get really uncomfortable when it comes to illegally filmed sex tapes.
I'm not a fan of Peter Thiel but there's no denying he is a god-tier strategist and utterly ruthless. I would fucking hate to be on his shit list.

>FBI sting operation
Hold on I have to hear this.
