now that the dust has settled
can we all just admit that it wasn't good?
Now that the dust has settled
No.
armond white liked it so it's Yas Forumscore
>i can't translate like that
>you translated farsi
>because i know farsi
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Cool concept but shitty ending
it was well done but they didnt really adapt the original story properly
It was good just not some superb high brow sci fi some people think it should've been for some reason.
only movie ive cried at in the last 5 years
Why didn't the aliens just abduct Amy in the middle of night instead of coming to earth and making a scene?
Also treating translating Farsi as some great accomplishment when there's 100+ million native speakers of Farsi, plenty of them in the USA, and it's literally one of the easiest Indo-European languages to learn after you get through the alphabet: no gender, almost no cases, really rudimentary mood, just two grammatical tenses and the rest are formed with participles just like in English.
I mean if it was some shit in Ubykh or Xhosa or whatever.
This user fucks.
this was so fuckin stupid
>here's ten seconds of alien gibberish
>uhhh I have no idea I study human language
>thanks for wasting my time, I'm outta here
they already saw in the future that they'd just land on earth and sit around
i think villeneuve made this movie entirely just to say rush limbaugh bad and he made prisoners entirely to make an actor say alex jones has the iq of a ten year old
I admitted this the moment I saw the movie.
I thought it was great and I only watched it a few months ago.
You can tell this movie was made in a different era.
>China is the one about to doom the world
Literally wouldn't be made today.
Because the main audience of this movie is some linguistics dweeb, sure.
brought a bunch of cool new concepts to the screen, loved it
slaughterhouse five rip off
Gladly. It's shit.
>cool new concepts
like what?
The aliens were fucking stupid.
I get it. They're supposed to be "omg aliens are probably not what u would think they would be like" but how the fuck do those stupid squid-octupus fuck faces even build? how did they hunt? what was their primitive, medieval, etc. development like? what tools? their ship was built by whom using what? how did they develop? what was the "1990s" era like on their planet? so fucking stupid
communicating with chinese people
>Why yes, we need someone to figure out that using writing language might be smart
Without thd plotwist it could have been an ok movie tho.
ALSO FUCK CHINA
What are some good movies about aliums? Where they're really different from other movie aliens
I liked it overall, solid 3.5/10. Definitely Villeneuve's worst major film though
Samefag, 3.5/5 I meant
I agree. It wasn't good. It was great.
>I liked it overall, solid 3.5/10
kek
pffft
carefully crafted feels bait
overly dramatic music replaced all character development but most people will fall for it
>Dude, I can now see the future but it's impossible to change it lol.
What is the point?
Pure kino, one of the better sci-fi movies out there
what?
The core concept of the movie makes zero sense. Only tryhard pseuds like this movie, and anyone with developed critical thinking skills should feel offended at being served the slop that this film tries to pass off
>one of the better sci-fi movies out there
have you only seen like 5 sci-fi movies or something?
