Batiatus did the right thing framing him for the murder of this condescending old goat Calavius. Killing two birds with one stone was fucking brilliant. And keep in mind that "good" Solonius wasn't a better man than Batty at all. "Good" Solonius had betrayed their friendship first in Gods in Arena breaking their arrrangement about splitting the gladiators of Vettius and then plotted to have Batiatus killed at the hands of Ovidius ( Fortunately Batty had survived this attempt on his life thanks to Sparty). To top it off, the two-faced Solonius played both sides during his showdown with Tulius all along (he only joined Batiatus at the last minute when it was clear he would have an upper hand over his rival, had the roles reversed, he would have switched sides and supported Tuliu in a heartbeat ) lusted after Lucretia and even in good lod times were he was best friends with Batty in Gods in Arena he was subtly trying to win over his wife. Getting rid of that snake Solonius was an act of self-defence. Solonius was trying to destroy Batty, take over his ludus, his glory, even his wife so the code of conduct was clear "kill him before he kills you" . I blame Batty for many dishonourable deeds (mostly killing of the innocent such as Sparty's wife or this little loanshark's son ) but framing of Solonius was just a justified act of revenge. Sorry, guys, vengeance is mine, to forgive is divine...
