>get invited to a friend’s DnD game, never played before
>everybody is really meek despite it being a social game
>decide to play a kind of ridiculous character to spice things up
>everyone’s laughing
>later I’m told that I can’t come back because one of the regulars was upset that I “made his girlfriend laugh too much”
Kinos for this feel? I’ve already seen Zero Charisma.
Get invited to a friend’s DnD game, never played before
What a fucking faggot.
>later I’m told that I can’t come back because one of the regulars was upset that I “made his girlfriend laugh too much”
You should fuck his girlfriend.
Congrats OP, you're a chad now
You're better off not playing with a group like that anyway. jfc.
you should always have a slip of paper with your number on it so you can slip it in her pocket or down her top.
D&D is for normalfags now.
cuck him
How did that happen anyway? Is 5th edition just that streamlined?
I don't have people to play DnD with :(
D&D players are, unlike the stereotype, very rarely virgins and usually date other nerds. However, they are almost always EXTREMELY insecure, and have a strong us/them attitude in their social life (their friends circle vs outsiders). They often don’t approve of new people entering, and get distraught when a mber of the group hangs out with other people for once.
you don't have to lie on the internet user
First steps to become a Chad. Congrats.
Kind of. Also, a LOT of new players are people who just see it as an analog version of compiter RPGs. They like levelling, stats, quests, items, etc. but the actual roleplaying and acting are completely foreign to them.
Correct
Yes, it's the reddit of DnD
SJWs invaded all tabletop.
>friend from gym invited me to try out DnD
>figure why not since he's a Chad so it can't be too bad
>everyone is creating nerd fantasy characters wizards and shit
>decide I just want to have fun and play a gangbanger
>start talking in my best nigger impression
>get kicked out for being racist
geeks suck
i think podcasts like critical role normalized it
This. The only way to get a bearable group to play with is to just slowly introduce your friends to it over a long period and play the system you like.
My normie friends used to think tabletop was virgin shit but 5 or 6 years later and we play every week and have a great time, and without autistic betaisms.
5e is shit and yes incredibly streamlined, but you shouldn't play dnd anyway
This OP you have to give her the dick now
>However, they are almost always EXTREMELY insecure, and have a strong us/them attitude
that's Yas Forums
Fuck his gf
kek
kek what a fucking cuck
>tfw no friends
DnD seems like a lot of fun, bros....
Good. You didn't belong there.
Are you a racist with your friends?
Same thing happens to all niche hobbies eventually once people realise normalfags have more disposable income. 40k is already well under way, Astartes just sped things up.
Expect model trains to be all the hype in a few years.
its ok OP, you are based, fuck those meeklings. i had a similar experience my first DnD game
>with a bunch of friends
>DM is super into it which is cool but i wanna bend the rules a bit
>make a bard that walks around with a snare drum at all times
>all i do is "cast drum solos"
>friends are laughing at my dumb shit, almost get everyone killed because im busy fucking drumming instead of helping or running
>eventually get killed and raised as a lich or a wight or some shit
>DM asks me what my next move is
>"use my ribs as drumsticks and get back to solo'ing"
>don't get invited back to that DMs games
>friends only play Magic EDH
>cant find the energy anymore to make decks or lookup cards
Just want to play DnD already jesus fuck or maybe some WH40k but no, magic obsessed losers
gb2r
you can play dnd on the internet
Yeah but at that point I might as well just play a videogame.
Budget edh is comfy as fuck.
Those youtube streams of people playing made it very popular.
>40k is already well under way
Normalfags don't have THAT much disposable income.
>NOOOO MY NICHE HOBBY CAN'T ATTRACT ANY NEW PLAYERS ALLOWING THE COMPANY TO FINALLY MAKE A PROFIT
add her on facebook
it's not budget :(
Also those youtube channels that read D&D stories from reddit.
Relevant
more and more kids become nerds each year to the point where they seem to be the majority these days.
Happened to me too
>be a meathead
>friend with a nerd because sometimes we played chess at school
>invite me to play desktops with his nerd groups
>three long haired dorks
>two tryhard girls
>try to be polite
>play Mars colonization
>know fuck all about the game
>only thing I was able to do was play three instant effects
>only one guy was viable as a target
>entire group gets butthurt, chastise me and kick me out
Like a game with five women. No wonder nerds immediately submitted when feminists came for their hobbies.
Deborah Ann Hot, am I right?
how'd you get this picture of me?
go fuck his gf
>my face when everyone I ever played Shadowrun with is dead, less one
PS: Web 1.0 killed D&D. People swapping "epic" campaign stories on newsgroups, irc, and early forums shifted the entire focus from roleplaying to wannabe novelist DM's railroading their cardboard silhouette archetypes through their magnum opus.
Why didnt you target others?
>Yas Forums - Television & Film
I rape the Duquene family, again.
there is no difference except that you dont have to deal with a bunch of autists in real life and you dont have to go outside your house, a thing i dont like doing
How long is a game supposed to take? this guy tried to get me into this but it was always
>spend an hour rolling up fucking characters
>start game he's power tripping so it's not fun after 4 minutes
>quit
>have to start again rolling character next time cos didn't do it properly first time trying to get it over with
sounds like a shit group
>Think about the companerinos. Every hobby on this earth has to be streamlined to make profit
A session lasts for as long as the players have time. A campaign/story lasts for as long as the DM wants.
>that happened
A session takes at least 2 hours, usually 3 or 4 and depending on the group it can last even longer. And yes, most if not all of the first session is spent rolling characters. Although if you didn't have an absolutely shit tier group someone more experienced would usually guide new players through character creation.
It was impossible, they had already set up defenses. It was literally the only thing I could do, except skipping my turn.
That is why I was surprised by their reaction.
You underestimate hoe much they are willing to spend. Normalfags have already infested MtG to such an extent that multiple formats have become completely unaffordable. Cards that were only a few bucks a few years ago have exploded in price because of retarded YouTube channels playing ebin commander games and introducing it to the unwashed masses.
We don't, we play Hackmaster
Nor time. The only thing that saves 40k from normies is that you cannot just consoom. I mean I know people who have thousands of buck in unpainted and unasembled models, but is more a pile of shame than something to display like Funkos.
Except none of then will be willing to collect large hoards of miniatures and play pretend battles with them. D&D is still a more social and more brainless game than that. They'll post 40k memes and know a few tidbits about the lore but the game itself will never take off.
The RIFTSchad will never be mainstream, feels good.
see this is where your fantasy should come into play
instead of “gangbanger”, you could have been a “swarthy berserker from a distant continent” and act like a nignog to your heart’s content
companies shouldn't make a profit on shitty dice rolling games for dull people without imaginations
>everyone I ever played Shadowrun with is dead, less one
Shit son, must be a mood killer.
>it's a "DM inserts their fetish" campaign
It's your fault for being unimaginative
It's all because of podcasts, streamers, and youtubers. People don't know anything but D&D and all they expect is lolrandom stuff to happen, and when it doesn't happen they go "why isn't this like Critical Role?"
>work at big company with Slack for chat
>decide to make a Thursday pen and paper day in the office
>I offer to run Ghostbusters: The RPG (a /tg/ favorite) because I've done it many times before
>everyone wants to play 5e
>nobody wants to DM 5e
>eventually someone says fuck it and offers to DM 5e
>we decide on Thursday as the day to play
>set up a poll to see who wants to play in which game
>nobody signs up for Ghosbusters
>16 people sign up for 5e
I actually like 5e, I don't think it's a bad system at all - it's unfortunately attracted a whole new group of people who expect to have EPIC FOR THE WIN "I roll to enter the dragon's anus to attack it from the inside!" kind of games instead of comfy adventures with your good friends.
Same here. I always wanted to get into it.
