good fucking riddance
Good fucking riddance
when was the last time you went to the movies Yas Forums
I kno, rite?
1996
Never been to these places.
Tell me Americans, what was bad about them?
When I lived in a small town in Maryland the only movie theater in the whole county was a dumpy AMC. The only upside was that they had a self-serve popcorn butter machine.
overpriced
they were pretty good until the early-2000s. now its just some run down haggard shit. stale/burnt tasting popcorn, shitty hard-cushioned seats, dirty as shit...not good.
I saw 1917 at AMC That was the last time I will ever go to a theater.
1 year ago. before that? around 8 years
lmao Yas Forums doesn't even watch movies at home let alone go to a cinema
Birds of Prey, but it wasn't at amc.
The local amc still hasnt adopted reclining seats.
Nothing it just depended what area of town they were in or how old they were.
That was last my movie too. At an AMC inside a mall
They shall not grow old
Sat front row
Worth it
gtfo of here you dyslexic faggot
yay, American money will go to bailout a Chinese company. Isn't our country amazing?
Joker
Invisible Man
>Last time I went to one
>Girl I'm trying to smash wants to see this awful movie I don't remember the name of
>Fuck it, go to the bar, going to need drinks before I go in there
>AMC charges $10 for a small Blue Moon not including a tip if you leave one
>The tickets are $13 apiece
>Go to some shitty Fondu pot place later
>Never got anything from her
I have only myself to blame.
Overpriced and overrun with basketball americans.
This. I thought AMCs were only in good parts of town. Instead, there were hundreds of juvenile din dus running around, numerous fights outside and heavy police presence
None inside the actual theatre though.
Double feature of Sonic and Birds of Prey, not AMC but my mall's Cinemark. First time I went to that Cinemark in years, I always usually go to the AMC in Naperville. They installed leather reclining seats in all the auditoriums. I really hope that one doesn't shut down because that's cool, paying only standard ticket price for an experience usually reserved for the "premium" IMAX and Dolby screening rooms at $17 per ticket.
That's every city. The little din dus in training roam around because they have nothing else to do.
>don’t go to theaters in years
>go back for sonic and birds of prey
What the hell is wrong with you
that's the last thing I saw too. cannot think of anything coming out that would make me go out to a theater if that were even possible any more
You misinterpret me,I haven't been to that particular Cinemark theater in years.
Joker
Popular then spread too thin, now they're like the McDonalds or Starbucks of chains and other ones have taken space by being nicer/cheaper like Alamo or Regal and serving decent food.
I work for Regal not AMC. But both deserve to declare chapter 11 because higher ups or either lazy or shit.
Cool you got a pic with her. Was this around the time of Suicide Squad?
Marcus is the superior theater. AMC is shit.
I saw the latest star wars with my parents
Did you say come on or had a face of disappointment after it was finished?
Marcus $5 tuesday and college discount is great but besides that they suck. All of their theaters near me are dirty. We used to have Wehrenberg, and they were based until Marcus bought them and ran them into the ground.
Went and saw Sonic the Hedgehog. I remember it because me and my friend opened a tab at the bar and I ended up paying $115 dollars for 4 shots ($12 a shot) and a cocktail (15)(x2)
>blocks your path
> The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange; from 2012 to 2018, the Chinese conglomorate Wanda Group owned a majority stake in the company. Private equity firm Silver Lake Partners made a $600 million investment in AMC in September 2018.
They are American owned. But keep parroting everything you hear on the internet without checking.
>Birds of Prey, but it wasn't at amc.
What the fuck, same here
Based, good food. St Louis has had one in development for years and this quarantine is probably adding an extra year onto it.
2017 and only because I got dragged to it, last one I went to where I was somewhat excited to see it was in 2013
>can’t even survive a couple weeks without people going to theaters after having their biggest year in history last year
They deserve to crash after wasting all their revenue on adding those shitty reserved seats and overpriced burgers.
Ford vs Ferrari last year. It was really good. Must've been a while for me before that because the place had been completely renovated.
In March to see The Invisible Man with my mother.
>all these replies saying that they haven't been to the movies in half a year or longer
The fuck, you guys are supposed to be movie aficionados who argue on behalf of the validity of the modern movie theater. You mean you fuckers don't even go to the movies?
Day before Trump’s speech announcing flights cancelled from Europe, I got to see 2001 A Space Odyssey in 70mm.
Pretty kino final theater film tbqh.
2012 for Avengers 1
>not seeing Marvel blockbuster #862748 means you aren’t a movie aficionado
literally 1917
The Invisible Man
the last time I went to the theaters was 8 years ago and even then people had their phone screens out, no thanks. They need to start arresting people for causing disturbances to others or I'm never going back.
There aren't that many movies I'd want to see in the theater anyway?
>tfw your local theater was going to show the LotR trilogy this month but covid fucked it all up
AMC is china owned anyways, who gives a shit
4 months ago
Joker on opening day
They'll be fine, Regal filed for bankruptcy in 2001 and they're still kicking
Bad Boys For Life
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and before that Phantom Thread. I think before that I saw IT and Ghost in the Shell. So yeah don't go to the movies much.
Filing for bankruptcy isn't always the death sentence most non-business people think it is.
A lot of times it's part of a calculated restructuring or reorganization that greatly benefits the business and is an easy way for them to bounce back out of a shitty but not business-ending financial situation.
>Regal
The basketball American theater chain. Always dirty and looks like nothing's been fixed let alone renovated for a decade.
>AMC
Wildly inconsistent. The bigger ones in the more upscale parts of town are usually pretty nice and often have luxury theater amenities like serving alcohol, comfy powered recliner seats, the newest Dolby tech and real IMAX theaters so it's an Alamo-tier experience but you can actually afford it and get passable seats the day of the show. A lot of times these locations were taken over from higher-end independent theaters and AMC just renovates and improves what's already there. The shitty AMCs were really shitty. The theaters are always dirty as fuck with sticky, popcorn-covered floors, crappy screens and projectors that always have technical difficulties, loud and unruly crowds and the snack bars are guaranteed food poisoning.
>Alamo
Always really nice but impossible to get good seats at a decent showtime unless you reserve like a month in advance. Best food and drinks by far but still really expensive and it can be hard to get service without risking getting kicked out for making too much noise.
>Local indie theaters
One is literally an old porn theater that got bought out. Still looks like the sleazy porn theater from Taxi Driver both inside and out but even more run down. Claustrophobically tiny space, half the seats are broken, shit sound and tiny screen you can barely see over the seat in front of you. Only ever shows either pretentious hipster bullshit or the most entry level anime shit everybody's already seen a billion times in a nicer theater.
The other one is an actual historic landmark and unironically a kinoplex. Large screen, spacious inside, plenty of seats. Run by people you can tell truly love movies. Always has cheap as fuck double features typically of a well-loved classic paired with a criminally slept on companion piece. Has a live organist who always plays the theme music to the movie before it starts.
1917
Before that it was uncut gems
Sonic Movie, twice. Once by myself, again with my nephews.
Uncut Gems in a Dolby theater.
The big screen and sound made it feel like one long panic attack. Felt like I needed Xanax by the halfway point but came out feeling like that was the way the directors wanted it to be watched,
