It's only a few months old and has already aged like shit. Blackface Dr. Manhattan was bad, but the last episode demonizes an Asian woman which I'm surprised no woke journalists have commented on.

The show should have had real commentary, something thought provoking that people could ponder over for years, as many people have with the end of Watchmen.

I’m not left with any great moral quandaries to consider. If you’re a liberal and hold liberal views the show doesn’t seem that keen on making you question those views. It’s a social justice 101 commentary sprinkled on top of a mediocre and shallow superhero story. The show was like the "diet" version of MCU movies and other capeshit. There may have been imagery and parallels to the original but whereas Watchmen subverted a lot of tropes and cliches, the show played right into them and yeah they could have easily done something new to make make the audience think. The show uses the Watchmen brand more in the characters and plot, not themes or questions the plot and characters raise for the viewer.

The 7K is just another Lindelof trick from LOST where he hypes up a mysterious organization (the Others and the Dharma Initiative) only to never truly get into the details of who they are and what they believe, and have them offed before the show is over.

It had a "Madman" who thought of a pile of corpses to unite the world, and succeeded before even the godlike being himself could deduce it. What do you suppose people would save of this mess had they finished it? "Boy, sure is good thing those racists got beat and nobody had to die, right?" And then they fall into silence, enjoying the media that told them they were right, not a single thought more in their heads, just as the writers held none as they waited for the lavish praise for saying exactly what they wanted to hear.

On the right, they would simply look to the cartoon characters portrayed as evil, the dumb plotlines that only work through the deepest of contrivances, and the clear cut good and evil and think no more of it, if they watched it at all. From the numbers, that is in deep doubt. There was nothing for them to ponder, every character too over the top and every "Gotcha' too badly done to think of at all, let alone examine.

Plenty to say, nothing to think of when your mouth shuts.

Hardly, or the original wouldn't have worked as well as it had. Ozymandis falls nowhere on the political spectrum at all, regardless of how monkeys like to paint him. He is a pinnacle of pragmatic, not wholly unemphatic but driven by a plan he is certain is right. He is no more Reagan than he is Bill Clinton, yet it was the thought and care in him and the ones trying to stop him that made the story actually have meaning, and something to say even after the pages had finished being flipped.

What good is it to nakedly jam in current topics if the only thing they bring to the story is clear cut good guys and bad guys so comically over the top none could ever think of them as real people, except those who already demonize one side of the political spectrum? Who else could see the ones wearing those masks and think they're compelling enough except those desperate enough for a boogeyman they would think them real? Does the show challenge this? Of course not, by the end they simply are what they said at the start, no different than demons from Doom who could talk. For a story to wear the Watchmen name, that makes them all the more laughably stupid, and the writer more laughably incompetent in his failures. Who will remember them? What is there to remember? Rorschach himself will likely live on, of course he will, this mess ignored by the creator won't change that, but he'll live on because even as terrible as he was, the viewer could still call him human.

I ask again, what questions does the ending leave? You didn't answer, you couldn't, because there's nothing more to be said when the curtain falls. Except, perhaps "Whelp, another failure tried to make another Watchmen, and somehow was dumber than the last guy with the slow motion."
