Reread what I said retard. Sketchy lines arent about whether or not it looks good. Dont get me wrong there are some artists who use that in their style and make it look good. Its about technique. A lot of younger people, especially retards who just picked up art because they started watching anime or whatever start out using the "I can't fucking draw a straight line and refuse to even try" technique. It means you dont know how to make a quick and precise stroke with your hand to make a single clean line. It means youre inexperienced and dont know what your doing. So you resort to scratching your pen or pencil against paper to try and make something that resembles a line. This technique makes a single sketch or drawing take hours longer than it needs to versus quick strokes in under a second and finishing a sketch in under a minute

In figure drawing we used sketchy lines to shape the "gestural core" of the image. Drawing from the edges in is possible but it's not advised.

A little bit of both, I think it depends. Like any other talent it takes years. You cant rush into art and expect results right away, which is the big issue a lot of normies and weeaboos have with trying to get into it and dropping it right away. Ive seen people turn into fucking gods in 5 years and others still pretty mediocre even at 20+ years. Its definitely something you have to practice every day of your life and study, going months without drawing can be extremely detrimental and you can basically forget your entire talent and everything you learned. If you dont have the time and patience for it dont bother.

I wish I had that one Yas Forums screencap of, I think Richard Williams, going to a lecture at an art school. After the lecture tons of students came up to him begging him to teach them how to actually draw and animate. I can only imagine how much worse it's gotten since then, hand drawn animation is nearly a lost art at this point.
