I miss him, bros. A lot. Halloween's recent reboot was incredibly successful, a Friday the 13th one in the right hands would be just as big. I hate this stupid lawsuit so bad...

Sean Cunningham is such a fucking faggot.

They'll both die soon, but yeah I'm on Millers side.

No one gives a fuck about that retard

Jason > every other horror character
He’s just so damn fun

Thread theme
youtube.com/watch?v=txH_RBt3uCY

I had no idea that one of the fat guys from the movies was the one molesting Corey Haim

Joey from Part 5. Theres a video of him somewhere on YouTube showing his "apartment" off and giving a tour of it but its clearly just a place where, I'm sure, he took children to. It had a couch and tv. A bed. And a fridge. Super fucking creepy.

Eh. Anything Part 6 is cringy to me. It's the child friendly movie in the franchise for 12 year olds.

Any interview, commentary track, bonus feature, anything from Part 6, anyone interviewed from that movie is so smug. When they get together for conventions or big interviews it reminds me of the episode of South Park where the adults all smell and love their own farts. Never got the obsession with Jason Lives.

Slashers kind of died though, unfortunately. The few movies that do try end up being generally humour (Happy Death Day + Sequel) or just downright disappointing (The Strangers sequel)

>Slashers kind of died though, unfortunately.
But Halloween 2018 IS A SLASHER.

>hating the best Friday movie

No.
youtube.com/watch?v=HltchTPbH5Y

What makes it the best for you?

>Halloween 2018
After all the internet hype I expected something much, much better.
Friday the 13th 2009 > Evil Dead 2013 > Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 > Halloween 2018 > A Nightmare on Elm Street

The previous ones were just low quality Halloween rippoffs. Parts 3&4 were okay, but this one got the tone right.

That's not how you spell Victor Miller

what was the last slasher that came out? H2018? It’s been almost 2 years, and before that it was probably some shitty TCM movie. I miss the 80’s when everything was a slasher

Look...I'm the biggest F13 fanboy around and I flock to these threads all the time, but in no way shape or form is the 2009 remake better than the TCM remake, Evil Dead remake, and Halloween 2018. Friday the 13th 2009 is a shiny, uninspired turd.

Interesting, I almost never see anyone take Cunningham's side. Care to share?

I disagree. I think the tone makes the movie feel like The Goonies. I'm not discrediting your opinion or taste or anything. But the humor is a big, big miss for me. The only thing that made me crack a smile is the "you're gonna be the death of me" line by the groundskeeper. The paintball scene is absolutely painful to watch. Everyone has a catch phrase.

I wasn't around back then but Friday the 13th movies in the theaters in the 80s were meant for adults to watch and I'm sure a fair amount of kids and teens snuck in to enjoy them. But when you make a movie aimed at kids and teens then it's no fun anymore. At least for me.

The actor is Dominick Brascia. As far as I can tell he says he's innocent.

well said, he ded

No other movie on that list had stupendous tits and excellent nipple placement

>Sean Cunningham is such a fucking faggot.
I cant remember is this the writer of the original or the producer for most of the series?

>He didn't like Friday 09
how did you get filtered?

Evil Dead fell apart in the end. Everything besides the last 10-15 minutes was great though.
TCM was overrated from the start. The prequel was much better.
Halloween was OK. Minus the ending. Again.
Friday the 13th remake was basically The Best Of Parts 1-4. It was fun as fuck and had some good, oldschool violence and tiddies. On any other occasion violence and tiddies would be a shit tier argument, but not here.

Can someone explain the Cunningham/Miller thing and how it's holding F13 back?
Also, I was planning on watching Crystal Lake Memories soon; is it any good?
I read this Freddy vs Jason script the other day and generally liked it. Any other good unused scripts around?

>Can someone explain the Cunningham/Miller thing and how it's holding F13 back?
I have no idea, but I suppose it's the same as Romero/Russo thing on Living Dead.

New Jason trilogy idear. Tell me what ye thinks.

Friday The 13th: Return To Camp Blood - The final girls of parts 2,3,4,6 and 8 along with loved ones go back to the infamous camp as a part of therapy. At the same time some Teens are partying nearby. They start getting snuffed out one by one mystery nigga F1 style. They run into a crazed Tommy Jarvis in the woods who they believe is the culprit. Of course it really is Jason. Lots more murders. Tommy left for dead. One of the teens and Ginny from 2 are final girls. It starts to snow.

Friday The 13th: Red Winter - Ginny and Teen bitch try to survive deep in the woods during a blizzard. Some wilderness/weekend survival people show up (body count fodder). Jason kills everybody but the teen. Tommy helps her escape. She boards a big boat while fleeing.

Jason vs. NYC - What part 8 should have been. Big set pieces using famous NY places and people and culture. Tease that the movie is gonna take place on a boat again just for lulz but the boat makes it's way to the big apple within the first five minutes. Jason pursues teen girl. Jason's father shows up at the end because why not?

>it's the same as Romero/Russo thing on Living Dead
I also know nothing about this. Care to expound?

John Russo was a hack involved in filming Night of the Living Dead. For one reason or another, he obtained the rights to "Living Dead" in the title. Then he was once again involved in making Return of the Living Dead (O'Bannon shat on his script and made totally different movie). Romero didn't give a fuck and just kept making zombie movies, discarding the "Living" from the future titles.

Crystal Lake Memories is fantastic if you're not very knowledgeable about the franchise. You'll learn a crazy amount.

The lawsuit. The fucking lawsuit. Cunningham was the director of the original. He wanted to make a movie to basically pay his bills and continue to keep his career afloat. He saw Halloween and thought to himself I can do that. I'll just change the story a little, change the setting, and focus more on the killings. So he put an add out in the New York Times or something, I can't remember what paper, a full page ad advertising Friday the 13th and about how terrifying it is and yadda yadda. He did it to see if he would get sued by anyone for wanting to use Friday the 13th. No one had the rights so, bam. Title of the movie. He needed a writer to write it and that's where Miller comes in. Miller wrote it. Put a lot of his own personal flare in it. Gave Jason his name, came up with his entire past and the stinger at the end of the movie.

Miller was and is a part of the Screenwriters Guild. He got paid a flat rate for writing and selling his script, just like how it always goes. So, movie blows up. Franchise takes off, and Miller feels like he's owed some residual money for coming up with Jason and he becoming the focal point of the franchise after that. This is actually the second lawsuit between the two, not the first. The first one was quiet and quick. This one is ugly.

So Miller sues Cunningham again over a year ago. Claims he never got a penny and he wants more now than ever because of his age. Cunningham's defense claims that he hired Miller to write the original script as a freelance writer and that he told him to put all of those ideas in the script, which is insane and complete bullshit because Miller was in the Guild and has protection from the Guild over things like this. The original lawsuit gave Miller the rights to Jason's character as a young boy and the character rights of Pamela Voorhees.

Cunningham has rights to adult Jason
Miller has rights to the name and camp and kid Jason.
Essentially Jason is split between two people. I can only hope they come together and agree to make a new movie

Seems like the appeal fell through and the rights are still split but I cant remember
imdb.com/video/vi3900946969?playlistId=tt0080761&ref_=tt_ov_vi

Why can't they come up with a new killer as iconic as the old ones instead of rehashing the same ones over and over?

DURRR PERSON GETS GUTTED

Slashers are the devolution of horror

The Burning 2

Now is the time to give Cropsy the franchise he always deserved.

because it would require creativity and risk

The original Halloween and the original Black Christmas are extremely stylish masterpieces. As are a number of Giallo films (pretty much Italian slashers)

slashers worth watching:

intruder
the house on sorority row
the burning
maniac
the prowler
just before dawn
happy birthday to me
my bloody valentine
prom night
terror train

what else?

What sub category of horror movies specifically do you prefer from prior to slashers?

continued

Thats why you never see or hear anything about boy Jason or Pamela in JGTH or Jason X (Cunningham became executive producer of the franchise after it was sold to New Line after Part 8).

Basically Miller feels like he's owed something. Sued once and was assured he'd be given cash for his contributions to the franchise. Never received anything so sued again. Cunningham is having his legal team block everything they can in court to make Millers life a living hell. Miller has said this is money his kids and grandchildren will be able to use, not him.

This entire thing has once again made Cunningham look like a complete asshole. Cunningham was determined to make a career outside of Friday the 13th and failed miserably.

Honestly I'd do like a remake trilogy kinda thing.

Movie one would basically be parts 2-4, like the legend of Jason is already a thing. You can put in that campfire scene from 2, make kid Tommy present for that scene, and tell the events of 1 in a flashback.

Movie 2 would essentially be part 6. Recap the whole psychiatric ward stuff in an opening scene or something.

Movie 3 would actually be bits of Part 9. Minus the body hopping shit. I think 9 would be interesting because that movie has a lot of good character stuff, and the protagonist of that movie was originally SUPPOSED to be Tommy. I think a 9 esque movie would be a good final chapter and putting Jason to rest for good.

i just watched Black Christmas (the original since I think theyre remaking it or have remade it) and it was a lot better than I expected

>the original Black Christmas
>extremely stylish masterpieces
Lol, no. Why does Yas Forums have this weir boner for BC? The pacing is so wrong it makes a good half of the movie a chore. Kinda like the original When a Stranger Calls. The phone scene is the only good thing about it. The remake might be crap, but at least it has prime Michelle Trachtenberg in it.

It has two remakes. Both suck ass. Though the first remake has some good Gore and Christmas lighting I'll give it that. It just butchers the story horribly and is not scary in the slightest. The second remake is pure sjw nonsense that has nothing to do with Black Christmas

Zoom zoom

I don't see it ever happening

Fuck off. I was born in 1985.

my nigga

Yikes

Fixed that for you:
youtube.com/watch?v=NSLSUDDKpbA

Miller was the one that sued, you retard.

Miller is a hack that wants all the money from what other people created. Miller has stated many times he never liked Jason as the villian. But he sure likes the money.

The working script for the first Friday was done on the fly between Cunningham and Miller. For instance the killer POV filming was done because they hadn’t got anyone for Pamela until last weeks of filming.

The famous scene of Jason coming out of the water which spawned Friday 2 was Cunningham’s idea.

Nothing about the iconic Jason Miller has any part of

She should have been the final girl.

Attached: violet.jpg (600x338, 32.87K)

Who do you think is best girl in the whole franchise? The obvious answer is Melissa Paur. God I love her.

Attached: .png (1440x900, 1.76M)

I really only listen to these songs in October. It honestly just gets me pumped up for Halloween and makes the month comfier. Am I in the wrong for doing this?

Damn I've had a very similar idea for years. Bring back all the surviving characters for a new movie. Or preferably a new trilogy. Friday the 13th Parts 11 - 13 (appropriate ending)

I always pictured Ginny, Paul, and Ted being the main characters and sort of suffering from PTSD from the events that transpired in Part 2.

absolutely. jason lives fags should fucking hang.

you're all wrong
