the soviets did the actual fighting, but the brits blockaded the entire northern oceans and basically smashed the german navy, which completely cut their logistical supply capabilities, and the americans were supplying the soviets via lend lease, and the the most crucial aspect of all : cut off their oil supplies and refused to sell them oil ( america at the time of ww2 was the biggest oil supplier in the world), that alone put the german war effort under huge strain and essentially imposed a time limit on them.

the movies and misconceptions of americans storming europe and single handedly winning the war are bullshit, but they were very important in other ways
