It keeps the stakes high when characters they meet die. Farscape can be silly but one of the reasons it's such a great show is the constant and extreme danger the crew is in all the time, if they had tons of allies that survived helping them they wouldn't be in quite such believable danger.

It's the opposite actually, though Farscape wasn't the worst example. You get the sense that the main characters have a magic shield around them and everyone else is just DOOMED. I ended up liking most of these side characters, even the neutral peacekeepers, but they all end up corpses.

I thought Peacekeeper Wars was pretty good, it gave the show a good resolution at the very least.
I'd like to see a more conventional war in Farscape though rather than a fight over wormhole Macguffins just the Peacekeeper and Scarrans and Mimbari trying to out maneuver and kill each other the old fashioned way.

I didn't watch PKW till years after it aired when I started rewatching the show on Netflix. I was watching the show when it was on air but because I was so pissed about the last episode I didn't tune in when PKW aired.
I regret living with that shit ending for all those years but on the uphand I got to enjoy Farscape a second time and actually get a decent ending the second time through.

I liked the wormhole weapon resolution (that scene is awesome and makes it worth watching). The wedding, birth and magic peace aliens were awful IMO.

I only finally finished this show two weeks ago and it was fantastic. A real shame the network cancelled it for the mediocre final seasons of SG-1.
Gigi Eagles fairly well-known in Australia, she has a good attitude and enjoys the con and talk show side of things so it doesn't surprise me she'd stream.

As depicted their species isn't evil, they are just assholes with a somewhat justified superiority complex. They are shown to be able to work with others and the treatment of non scarrans inside their empire is shown to be significantly more tolerant and even handed than that of the Peacekeepers. The only really 'evil' race is the Charrids, they literally eat babies.
