How would this work as a Movie?

It would need to be a self contained adventure, and not reference Ganon. The moment you try to lift the plot of any specific game, you've lost.

It wouldn't.

It wouldn't. Only cringy ass reddit mofos who think that playing Zelda means they're unique and that it's an obscure series think it's good.

>unironic damsel in distress hero story
It would be a refreshing change of pace but it couldn't be made today.

They would need to include that scene from Breath of the wild when she gets on all four. Pic related.

>movie 1
Set up Hyrule through the eyes of the reluctant hero Ganondorf. War movie/coming of age.
>movie 2
Young Link meets Zelda, young Link dungeons. Fantasy/coming of age.
>movie 3
Adult Link, action/fantasy

And yes, OOT is the only one that would work

I really think it would work best with Majora's Mask. OOT, TP, or BOTW are just way too complex, whereas MM is a kind of standalonee adventure that would make a super trippy movie.

Though perhaps OOT could work if it was from Zelda's perspective, with most of the story being her as Sheik

Fantasy very rarely works on film. Solo fantasy like Zelda is nearly impossible to adapt.
We'd either get kino that nobody but patricians like, a pile of shit that nobody but reddit likes, or a pile of shit that nobody likes at all.

People thought Lord of the Rings couldnt be made into a movie

A ghibli adaptation taking place 100 years before BOTW could potentially work.

It could only work as some anime-ass stream-of-consciousness shit with more focus paid to the setting and "world" than anything, just following Link around to various points in an adventure. And there's almost no way it could be feature length.

Basically Angel's Egg, but with a lighter tone. I can see it.
I can see it being feature length, too. Fuck the normies.

Make link black and Ganon white, obviously.

Nobody thinks Zelda is obscure, retard

Adapting any of the games except for the first two will have too many story elements, or too many dungeons you need to fit into one movie. Most of the fun of Majora's Mask comes from being familiar with Ocarina of Time but there's too much there to fit into one movie.

Just do a loose adaptation of the first game's story in the manual. Link saves old lady Impa from monsters, finds out Zelda was kidnapped, and goes on a quest to save the Kingdom. Make it like Indiana Jones with Link exploring dungeons and tombs, and replace whips and guns with swords and magic. Keep a lighthearted tone but tons of dangerous situations.

Should simply have an OoT animated miniseries. Unfortunately they missed the mark of 90s based animation and any attempt to do it now would probably suck.

This

Bizarre opinion.

if made today I can tell you exactly how it would be.
>Zelda gets kidnapped, then breaks herself out and ends up in bum-fuck nowhere and runs into Link who tries to help but just gets in her way
>Zelda says she doesn't need Links help but he tags along and she just lets him
>They journey to various dungeons for reasons, and work as a team to fight the bad guys but Zelda is the one who actually defeats each boss
>They eventually get to Ganon, Zelda is taken out of the fight and Link fights Ganon and is losing until he does something that gets Zelda back into the fight and she kills Ganon with Link's sword.
>movie ends with Zelda getting fame and fortune and being treated as the hero by all while Link just goes back to being a farmer where he dreams about Zelda, but she doesn't give 2 shits about him
>last shot is Zelda getting fucked by some black guy who asks her "what about that guy who helped you" and she replies "he was nobody"

What about Link To The Past?

If you were going to adapt a game verbatim this is the one to do it with imo.

>silent hero journey boy
Women will never understand

Correct but biased until the end, then it was just based.

Adapting a game would be a mistake. The best move would be to let the movie have its own story.
Make the first movie have a grounded story, and then go from there.

So basically, the old LoZ cartoon?

(to be honest though I have soft spot for it)

FUCK women, male fantasy tropes are kino

>BOTW
>too many dungeons
PFFFAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Animated Link is fucking based

Literally just the Mario Super Show version.

Commander Keen would be much better as a movie.

This sounds like pure projection.

Yas Forums didn't tell me OoT was a great game

Considering the one youtube personality who's actually worse at video games than Darksydephil is notable for hating OoT because "the bats were too hard to kill", of course it's a great game.

Knowing modern Hollywood and modern Nintendo, it would be a stronk independent Zelda who just shits on Link all movie and relegates him to a comic relief character

Lord of the Rings with a strong female protagonist

It is a great game
story wise it's a clusterfuck though

And no strong male lead

More complex than clusterfuck. Boy finds out he was adopted, goes to the princess on his adopted father's orders for a task he was prepared for, ends up going into the future when she gives him access to the Master Sword, and kicks ass there instead.
Too much for a movie, but a miniseries could make it work.
Dungeons for the most part are filler in every game. Shave them down to one or two.

black people

It wouldn't, now fuck off and never mention an adaptation again.

Having a twink blonde haired protag might count as one

the clusterfuck is more toward the resolution where the whole split timeline bullshit happens
honestly the whole returning him to being a kid in the past thing didn't really need to happen or should have been handled differently

Correct, but that at point, there is no reason to make it LOZ and it should instead just be it's own thing

>It would be a refreshing change of pace but it couldn't be made today.

Zelda hasn't really been a damsel since Link to the Past, 1991.

A comedy. A great fairy casts a spell on Link and Zelda swap places during the annual Castle Town festival. As a result, Link in Zelda’s body becomes Sheik, and Zelda in Link’s body becomes twink. Will the two ever go back to their old lives? Can Zelda save Link from the clutches of Ganondorf? Or will she succumb to the Gerudo beau as well?

>People thought Lord of the Rings couldnt be made into a movie

The problem with The Legend of Zelda is the silent protagonist. It's a different set of problems.

Link is a faggot in BotW. He's not a strong lead

The cartoon did a great job adapting the first two games into something. However, we are long past that and nobody thinks of that kind of Link and Zelda anymore. In everyone's mind, Link is a silent blond kid.

Good thing they have several other iterations of the character to base it off of!

Make him mute. Literally make it part of the plot. Maybe part of manifesting the Triforce of Courage includes him finding his voice.

Just take Ryan Gosling Drive and throw him in Lord of the Rings

Just make it Majoras Mask and Im happy

Damsel means unmarried woman so she's definitely been a damsel in every game and she's been in distress in almost all of them especially the more recent games and especially in breath of the wild
