I don't get Mike's speech. He says he's super motivated to stay alive because of his family depending on him. But then he says that he knows if he dies they'll be taken care of after (and we know that Gus does keep his word with that), so actually he shouldn't have any motivation not to just get killed?

Kim's going to disappear with the help of the vacuum store repairman near the climax of season 6. It is likely that Jimmy is going to use his money made in his $100,000 "commission" to pay for Kim's safety. The most likely person that would probably pay for the rest is Mike. He'll probably make up for the difference, and in the process save Kim's life.In a way this would be a redeeming moment since in season 4 he killed the german construction foreman leaving his wife as a widow. By saving Kim it would complete his arc as a character in Better Call Saul.
It would also be a good motivator on why Mike remains in the game after Better Call Saul. Paying for Kim's disappearance could drain up a lot of the funds he was saving for his grand-daughter.

Kim's death would destroy Jimmy. He wouldn't be able to function as a "criminal" lawyer knowing his acts resulted in his wife getting killed. He already struggled to cope with his estranged brother dying, and I can't imagine he would handle Kim's loss any better.Furthermore, Kim's escape would symbolically result in Jimmy compelting his transformation into Saul Goodman. The last thread tethering him to his old life would be severed leaving Saul the only part left of him.

Its also likely that present day Jimmy post-breaking bad will abandon his fake identity in search of Kim. It’s unlikely Jimmy awakes as Saul Goodman just to challenge some random annoying taxi driver.By keeping Kim alive it gives the post-breaking bad scenes significant stakes, and allows for closure with Jimmy's relationship with Kim.What type of closure that'll be is unknown. It could be a happy ending or it could be bitter. We'll just wait to find out.

This theory is as solid as attorney-client privilege as it makes the most sense and is the best direction from a writer's perspective.
