the book is worth a read, but the mini-series is unironically better than the movie

ah yes, of course thank you. I remember the part where the main character and his mother had to walk across the sands but they had to take random steps as to not attract the worms, and that walking truly randomly was difficult.

I work in merchandising and we use Gill Sans but we have an exclusive version of Gill Sans for the company which looks ever so slightly different. The very last thing we change before delivering the finished product is changing normal Gill Sans to our Gill Sans. Fuck knows why, I’m not in management, but I expect a similar process happens in the media industry.

huh interesting, thanks user. So, you all HAVE the 'official' company Gill Sans on all your terminals, but you just switch it from normal to corporate version in InDesign or whatever before going to print/press? That IS weird, if that's the case.

IF the company is being very obedient with whatever limited licensing they have with their official typeface (how many machines they paid for to have the typeface run on), I guess it could make sense to only have fewer prepress machines that actually have the corporate typeface to convert to before production begins. Even that is weird.

The thumper is the EXACT SAME design as the thumper from Lynch's DUNE. The sand dunes, atmosphere, sound and lighting looks extremely cheap. What an embarrassment, you might as well have posted a gif from the porn parody game.

Villeneuve hates green screen with a passion and uses it only when it's absolutely necessary.
They shot in Jordan in the actual desert and the rest on an actual built set, no full green screen setting in any of his films, everything has a practical base

Pretty cool how it was the Bene Gesserit plan for Paul to have been born an Atreides daughter wed to Fayd to bring a conspired peace between the houses…but Paul was the one who ended up doing the penetrating during their first and final tussle together.
