The platform

what is your take away from this movie, everyone seems to agree on what the movie means but i got a totally different impression, any way what did you guys think?

Attached: the blyatform.jpg (184x273, 8.59K)

It was some Christain-Communist thing with the main guy being God and the little girl being Jesus

see thats sort of what everyone has been saying but i got something totally different when i watched it

I figured it was a metaphor for classism

The goal was to kill as many people as you could on the ride down and they reward you with c*nny at the end, which Jesus guy somehow rejected.

jesus christ this website never ceases to amaze me

I didn’t understand the ending. The guy walked away into nothing?

Garbage

He died. It was metaphorical.

Anyway, all I got is that it's retarded marxist horseshit.

i felt like the movie was actually anti communism, the only way he could institute sharing was through violence and only to discover that even if you take every thing from the top 10% and share it there still isnt enough to go around, so everyone is as bad off as they were before but now you also have a pile of bodies

Sitting around whining about how things are never gets anything done; sometimes you need to pick up a big stick and start cracking skulls

Go back

You can't demand that others make sacrifices without making a few of your own. Goreng was asking everyone else to go without food for a day, but he was still going to ride the elevator to the top, himself.

That makes no sense because he sacrificed his meal that day too.

over ~300 stages
how tall was this shit?

Why didn't someone just get on the platform and try to escape by riding it all the way down and back up to the top?

the ending was shit

assuming each level was 10 ft. with 333 levels its safe to assume it was 3330 ft tall. for scale the empire state building is 1454 ft tall

We don’t know how much of it was underground though

>why yes I WOULD like to descend into the cannibalistic lower levels

Over half of the levels were already in the cannibalism zone. Like if you were in the top fifty or sixty that'd be one thing, but if you got stuck on 184 or 312 there's no reason not to try

>wow so deep man like if you only ate your share man we would be cool
>lol slant eye girl ate a dog wooow
>whole tower is infected with corona

That’s also retarded. Why didn’t the people on the last level try to leave by going up?

Because then the movie would be interesting

The best character was that chad who ended up on level five, nearly killed someone by shitting on their face, and loudly fucked his cellmate every night

Why didn't anyone take a gun?

gobunism xd

You'd run out of bullets or get it taken from you in your sleep.
>that one nigga who brought his surfboard

You'd get a fresh magazine every time they reset though.

It was about climate change.
Anyway, stupid movie.
Why would anyone build a tower that tall?
Or was it built into the ground?
And how did the platform move up and down?
Was it magic?

I want a concealed handgun with silencer and extra clips or extended mags

>wake up
>shoot and loot roomate
>ride food tray down
>kill and loot til i run out of ammo

It's set in the future.

>And how did the platform move up and down?
>Was it magic?
Anti gravity technology.

What would you add to pic related?

Joker

A lot of scenes in High-Rise we're very reminiscent of The Simpson's, whenever the townspeople would go into mob-mentality at the drop of a hat.

based

Considering how fast that platform moved upward, and how long it would be moving at that speed to get up the thousands of feet back to level 0, that kid would've blacked out and died from the g-forces by the time it got to the top

other characters are npcs that have been churning through the reincarnation cycle and have been beaten down by the system so much they do not question it
main character is a wanderer (autist), a more spiritually evolved soul entering this density to provoke change

This. A lot of people say it’s pro communist, but to me it shows exactly why communism doesn’t work. I get why people might think it’s anti capitalism, but there’s no actual capitalism in the experiment, only the end result. It might be a criticism of people being born into wealth. But the concept of capitalism is being able to move up through hard work or innovation. No one was really able to move up in the experiment on their own accord. So while they had a choice to make a communist system work in the experiment, there was no option to make a capitalist system.

This. These fucking midwit journalists and reviewers calling it a daring attack on capitalism missed the point incredibly hard.

I want my question answered and I refuse to watch the movie:
Why didn't everyone just get on the platform and ride it to the top

Because it ascended at such a high speed that your brain would be paste.

it's more a criticism of the dog-eat-dog mentality than strictly economic

Cube

That would invalidate the entire message about transcending the system the movie was building up to

That's why it's just one item on the list of why this movie is retarded.

Im with this post. Idk why everyone is shoving economic models onto a dumb sci-fi movie. That really didnt have much to say apart from telling a compelling story.

I assume that with most concept movies they just shove an ambiguous ending onto it since they really just dont know how to finish the movie.
The world building doesnt make sense outside the narrative being told.

If anything, it was anti-human.
Communism doesn't work because of human nature.
And Capitalism leaves everyone starving and killing each other.

So was the chick that worked in Administration lying, or misinformed about how the system actually worked?

Only in a Jewish globohomo world where nations are simply economic zones.

Small states where the people are white and united by blood can be a paradise under any system.
See: Scandinavian countries in the 20 century

because it goes all the way down first and some nigger at the lower levels would kill you eventually

the latter
the old guy is like the devil on the main character's shoulder once he kills and eats him (commits sin) and she is like the angel on the other shoulder

That women tried to get down every time and was stopped and raped every time.

The average dude would be raped by some tranny or eaten alive if they tried this. If you just want to survive it would be best to just eat your cell mate.

It doesn't actually make a lick of sense. Virtually the entire prison is in the cannibalism zone, pretty much everyone should be dead before the month is up.

It's a Netflix original so I'm not watching it.

Better without the scifi elements -or- played the scifi elements up more.

>dude, it's nature for us to rule over and shit on you.

We need to lift up minorities and females even if it means ruining our own lives.

CAPITALISM BAD

also subscribe to netflix, paypig

Only if you believe in economic mobility or reincarnation.

>including the people who brought guns and crossbows as their item

how did JK Rowling get away with this?

I dont see how it could be viewed as anything but anti communist
