This was actually not that uncommon among Celts and Germannics. During the Cimbrian War the Cimbrians got trapped by their wagons at the battle of Vercellae too. They tended to go to war with big wagon trains and all their wives and children. Like a entire nation on the move.

Most armies used to have a baggage train following them. Frederick the Great was forced to kick out all the whores so his army could move more efficently.

Yeah, the difference is that most armies would form a camp with all the valuables in it, preferably with fortifications or in a more defensible spot. The Celts and Germannics would form a line of wagons and women and children, behind the battle line. Theoretically it could allow their army to fall back and then use the wagons as a defensive line but it was catastrophic when the pursuit was so close it packed the tribal fighters in.

Londinium was undefended. Suetonius Paulinus had to pull out because he only had a fraction of his army. The rest were still on their way east after a good campaign murdering druids.
