Can we all agree on Midsommar being one of the worst movies ever?

Can we all agree on Midsommar being one of the worst movies ever?
Just a bunch of random, absurd, cringy scenes without any point. Not authentic at all.

It was pretty shit and she was one of the good things about it

>being one of the worst movies ever
It's shit for sure, but that might be a slight overreaction. It is at least competently made, which is the only complement I can give it.

No it's a very good movie, I can see why people don't enjot it but you saying it's "bunch of random, absurd, cringy scenes without any point" just shows you didn't watch it

Nah, it was a well made movie with great atmosphere and pacing.

Slow burn

Not the worst, just a very generic horror-flick that acts like its arthouse with some attempts at surreal images.

I like to pretend it takes place in the "The cabin in the woods" universe.

>very generic horror-flick
Aside from it taking inspiration heavily from wicker man what other recent horror movie is it like?

Why is that people that don't like this movie can't think of any other reason than "hurr i didnt get it so that means it made no sense"

how fucking hard is it to realise that its about a cult thats disconnected from the outside world, thats why they have so many weird traditions

Yes. Reddishills will tell you otherwise.
>but it's a bone chilling atmospheric slow burn without infantile jumpscare therefore it's good!

Yes we can agree on that. Dishonest garbage.

It was kino

Hereditary js way better.

>Dishonest garbage.
How is it dishonest?

OMG Hereditary the dark eerie atmospheric character development suspense build up a24 bone chilling slow burn??? That's my favourite!!

Hereditary is full of jumpscares what the fuck are you talking about

Every slasher flick ever? Its literally "the horror movie posse stumbles into a cult, ignores heavy-handed forshadowing, acts like no human with half a brain ever would, gets killed one by one and by the end the girl survives".

I guess taking the ending of "The Witch" counts as kinda creative given how generic the rest is.

It had some good shots to be fair. I liked that camera work. But the screenplay was so shitty that nothing can compensate it.
All the absurd scenes only had the message "look at what a crazy sect this is and what of crazy things they do!!! so crazy!"

I guess the movie tried to be artsy or something, but it was just a mess.

>hurr i didnt get it
What is there to "get"? The story has no greater sense.
It didn't seem like any traditions. Just seemed like the creators just tried to make it as absurd as possible.

It's typical A24 'atmospheric slow burn' flick. We get one of these every year and it's "best ever" everytime.

Where does dishonesty come into play and how is it atmospheric and slow burn theres a gruesome death in the first 5 minutes of the movie and a jumpscare in the first half an hour

Dishonest film making you retard. Are you new?

>hating on based a24 just because rebbit likes them for their own gay reasons

Attached: 1300044776986.jpg (600x600, 35.19K)

Clearly you are new or you don't know what you are talking about
Dishonest filmmaking implies that either the director lied about their intention behind the film, sold it as something it isn't or lies about the creation of the film
so again in what way is this a dishonest film

>hating on based a24 because that one schizophrenic wojak poster spammed it enough to convince you that's what we do here

Kek that's a yes.

Le I am gonna kill my innocent boyfriend because he wasn't nice enough to my needy self.

There really wasnt going on all that much thematically. Everything was too much in your face and there were no surprises to be had. It dragged on way to long. It's a shame, I liked Hereditary.

OP here. I didn't know that reddit likes it. Also I am a guest to Yas Forums. Actually I am from Yas Forums. Just came here to express my frustration about the movie

>>hating on based a24 just because rebbit likes them for their own gay reasons
>YOU HAVE SCHIZOPHRENEIA
>based A24

The director was trying to do a cult slasher movie, except he went through a breakup at the time so he added all the relationship stuff in the movie culminating with the girl choosing to kill the guy.

>degenerate jewish asshole shitting on white people culture

yep, it's American 'horror'

? it's a horror movie about an insane cult. what did you expect?
>all the absurd scenes only had the message... what did you want? what kind of fucking message are you expecting from a horror movie?

>The story has no greater sense.
You didn't get it

You realise that a) she was fucked up on drugs and that very likely influenced her decision to sacrifice her boyfriend b) its a horror movie and bad things happen to people who probably dont deserve it. this your first time?

He's replying to several people at the same time, while being pedantic and obtuse.
It's not his first time, but sure looks like it.

he watched the movie on 2x speed and missed the part where they were already going through relationship problems and she saw him fucking another girl

>hey, lets remake The Wicker Man but for the new generation!

Just watch the original Wicker Man.

>what did you want? what kind of fucking message are you expecting from a horror movie?
More than "look, this is a crazy cult. this cult is crazy". What makes this movie special? Nothing. Every B movie creator could come up with this scenario.

Explain me what greater sense this movie has.

Of course its shit, its swede

Here's what I thought. I illegally downloaded it and left it for weeks on my hard drive. I then deleted it without even attempting to watch it. I might just download and delete it again without watching once more. I hate this movie and I don't even know why.

I like how there's literally never a comprehensible argument against this movie and its just basedjack faces.

lol it's a horror movie. what kind of expectations do you have for it? what are some horror movies you like that have "meaningful messages" or whatever you're getting at?
the movie to me is just a twisted take on swedish midsommar, based on some past practices

You didn't miss anything. Watching this movie is just a waste of time.

>The worst movie ever
Shit like Deadly Detention and The Vault exist
Regardless of whether you like it or not or even think it's good or not, it's nowhere near the dumpster dive five dollar bin netflix crap that exists. There's such a vast ocean of unwatchable (and I mean actually unwatchable, not whatever exaggerated hyperbole that passes as "unwatchable" nowadays) shit that lurks beneath the surface as the majority of horror films that I've learned to find enjoyment in even the most basic bitch shit

i fucking love how hard Yas Forumscels got filtered by this movie

Attached: LINDOFF.jpg (1000x1000, 132.05K)

I never saw it but it looks like a film that women would think is really deep but is just colorful and slightly weird to appear different from mainstream blockbusters

Attached: GGh5QYM.png (496x500, 39.51K)

You did well.

what makes you think I'm eager to help you get the meaning behind a horror movie?. How dumb you have to be? Did you also felt lost watching Scream? Like, why is Jamie Kennedy character called Randy?

I honestly enjoyed the depictions of all the American characters. their passive-aggressive shittiness well rendered to the point that I think the movie would have been better if it had been about them killing each other.

I haven't seen it but I'm inclined to think anyone who unironically uses the word "cringe" is wrong about whatever they're talking about.

Didn't even seemed like a (horror) movie to me. More like a degenerated art project. The movie didn't shock me at all because it just felt unauthentic and boring. It made me rolling my eyes at every scene and wanting this movie to finally end. I missed the golden thread.

>Can we all agree on Midsommar being one of the worst movies ever?
If you're 12.

I am 27.

Then you haven't seen many movies if this is the worst one you've seen.

First part is actually good, but ruined by meaningless second part.

What was good about this movie? It was just boring and absurd.

I think people who praise this movie are the same people who look at pictures of some paint splashes and smearing and consider it as "brilliant art".

This. It started well and turned out to be waste.

you're just using buzzwords without substantiating anything you're saying. it makes you sound like you're trying too hard and don't know what you're talking about or just a contrarian cunt

It's brilliant that you can sell something as abstract as smearing paint in a canvas for thousands of dollars, sure.
Btw there are more paintigs with even less effort put into them that sell for millions.

Wasn't that good but still better than The Reddithouse

>option a. sacrifice boyfriend who you have a rocky relationship with who may or may not have went dick and balls deep inside some hot piece of ass

>option b. crazy ass cult fries my ass and fries my boyfriend's retarded ass and all our friend's ass because we had NO FUCKING BUSINESS STAYING AFTER THEM NIGGAS WERE SWANTON BOMBING OFF CLIFFS LIKE THE GODDAMN HARDY BOYZ

Yeah real tough choice to make there...totally...

I wish I was as bored as you user. You really nail the character, how many of this type of post do you make daily? A dozen?
