Only a master of evil, Saddam.

He was using 'Darth' as an insult, tying it to the word evil. It would be like saying, 'Only a master of evil, Nazi' to Hitler.

You can see Guinness making an effort in that scene not to laugh at what he just said

Darth is a title so it would be more like if Hitler was a Captain and Obi-Wan told Hitler "Only a master of evil, Captain."

I love how rlm drones shit all over the prequels acting and lightsaber duels but keep their mouths shut when it comes to this one scene. My personal favorite is Ben's little spinning move he does while Vader just stands there, not splitting him in half.

Captain doesn't have negative connotations with it. 'Darth' is obviously a title used by Sith lords which has evil connotations. By saying 'Darth' he was insulting Anakin and reprimanding him again for his fall. This is what Lucas always intended.

This series is interesting in that the significant event that shapes the world, the clone wars, is not shown at all. Pretty crazy risk to do it like that. luckily they were able to fill in people's desperate wanting to know by making prequels. but what about the events that shaped the world before the trade embargo? Several things are mentioned but not shown at all - and then they just stopped making prequels. So starting to watch these movies is a mistake that will leave you tearing your hair out

Lucas always intended to go back and do episode 1, 2, 3 later. That's why it was numbered episode 4.

>I just think, thankfully, of the lovely bread, which will help me keep going until next April

I can't believe he agreed to be in that piece of shit children's film. It just doesn't seem right.

Okay, but how was the Galactic Republic formed for example? It's never shown so Episode 1 isn't really "1", is it?

The acting is nowhere near as bad as the prequels, and if you're going to criticize stupid spins then the criticize the prequels. There are stupid life-threatening spins every five seconds in those battles, they're just faster so you dont notice how fucking retarded the prequel duels are.

You don't need the entire fucking causation of the universe spelled out for you.

It's episode 1 of Anakin's story. That was the intention of the numbering. Now of course there is supplementary material you can check out to get more information about the universe but I know that Yas Forums has a sneering disdain for world building so I can't really talk about those here.

Master of sneevil

wow this scene is very different than I remembered
youtube.com/watch?v=to2SMng4u1k

From my point of view, the jedi are evil.

The reason nobody attacks during the spins is because spinning sends out a wave of Force energy that prevents the enemy from getting close. I completely made this up but it makes a lot of sense.

I know this is a reimagining and it is good, but the 'le epic choral dramatic music' doesn't fit with the tone and is cliche anyway

youtu.be/J0mUVY9fLlw

Though I'd believe it that Lucas would come up with such a defense for why lightsaber duels are almost all Flynning. ESB, as usually, having the least and being the best film in that regard.

why does he sandbag his own apprentice?

>Darth is a title
Maybe 20 years later in the dumbass prequels this was the case, in the OT it was just a name.

I always thought Empire and Jedi are slightly flawed because they never mention the Clone Wars

Now THIS is reddit. Possibly the worst reimagining ever. Pure faggot capeshit

It's prequel music, so it does fit when the reimagining turns it into an over the top prequel style battle.

>That's why it was numbered episode 4
Wasn’t it it just called Star Wars originally?

t. Didn't watch episode 6

It labels itself episode IV in the opening crawl.

At that point the only relevance would be to learn about the past and that sort of ruins the reveal of Vader being a figure of the past
In Return the CW don't matter at all

Not in the 1977 theatrical version. That was added later. But it did say so in the original script.

ESB of course was not directed by Lucas. It's kind of impressive Lucas' power, that his name is so embedded into people's minds that nobody remembers the guys who directed ESB and RotJ.

I wish Lucas just retconned the clone war line instead of fucking up everything to try and make his shit writing consistent.

>ESB of course was not directed by Lucas
Kill yourself rlm cocksucker
Lucas wrote, directed and produced ESB. Go rewrite history somewhere else.

They didn't need to explain it that much, just have one or two Imperial officers or something talk about it, maybe that guy Vader kills at the start of ESB saying arrogantly "I AM A VETERAN OF THE CLONE WARS, LORD VADER, I THINK I CAN DEAL WITH THESE REBELS" or some shit like that

youtube.com/watch?v=p784ynn2WFY
>perfects the prequel trilogy

Irvin Kershner

The whole reason the Empire was so incompetent is because they didn't fight in the Clone Wars.

An interesting and well done technical exercise, but anyone who thinks this is superior to the original film is mentally ill

Imagine hating a film so much that you scrutinise every frame of it for flaws. I guarantee not a single person in the entire world noticed this choreography stuff on a first viewing. If you think anything in that video is a flaw or reduces the quality of the film you're a fucking retard

i like how han is an obvious repaint of roger moore LOL

So do you guys think the clone wars is good? Should I watch it? What about the animated series that they made after it?

Well, then you are lost!

Genndy's Clone Wars is awesome but short, the CGI Clone Wars is actually pretty solid and one of the better things to come out of Star Wars post OT. Watch Genndy's at least, because at the time of the movie it was intended to be canon and directly led into the start of RotS, also explained why Grievous had breathing problems.

Yoda, you old sponge.

Definitely watch it, it's pretty great. But there are a lot of dud filler episodes, so if you're not enjoying one feel free to just skip it. And maybe controversial but I'd skip season 1 outright. It's okay, but considerably weaker than the rest of the show.

thanks, will do
I didn't understand there were two "clone wars" series + a movie so I'll watch both series starting from Genndy's.
What about the Rebels series? Looks unappealing considered they seem all new characters, much like Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Lucas basically ghost directed RotJ tho

Lucas outlines the plot, but ESB had by far the least Lucas input of any of the first 6 films. Sorry.

You mean like how this board totally picked apart and scrutinized the throne room fight from the Last Jedi?

I guarantee you lots of people with fully developed brains did. Only retarded faggot children with rose tinted goggles look at it and think it's cool. Zoomer faggot.

Yes

This, Lucas had the least input on ESB and the most on ROTJ. And guess what, ESB is amazing while ROTJ is nearly garbage.

How come the newer movies can't do good dialogue like this.
It's like shakespear is its simplicity but power

Rebels isn't as good, but it gets better as it goes on, and it has Thrawn who is great.

What a waste of everyone's time

Yes. I don't even like The Last Jedi but the scrutiny of that fight scene is beyond ridiculous

ESB is technically better but ROTJ has a lot more heart and emotion to it. Not saying one is right or wrong but I definitely prefer Episode 6 because I think it has more impactful emotional moments.

As much as I hate to defend Yas Forums's stupidity, I would contend that the scrutiny of that fight scene was specifically because people kept praising it as the greatest fight scene ever. I still don't understand why TLJ was praised as highly as it was.

>good dialogue
it's hookey as fuck, bro
>"once I was but a learner, now I am the master!"
maybe this impressed white people in 1977, but society has progressed since then

It only impressed casuals. There were plenty of movies in 1977 with much better dialogue, like Sorcerer.

Only a master of Rumba and Cha Cha Cha, Darth

I still think it's a lot better than the standard 3rd act fights you get in Marvel of Fast and Furious films. But best ever? Not even close. Not even within its own franchise.

TLJ was a weird one in general. I think a lot of (stupid) people enjoyed what they perceived to be a departure from what they expected a Star Wars film to be, even though that's a completely false idea. It couldn't even shed the aesthetic trappings of X-Wings, Tie Fighters, and AT-AT's, much less the themes and general structure. It's a sheep in wolfs clothing.

I thought it sounded really good
Maybe it's just the delivery

retard

Only a retard of evil, Darth.

I love the bit where Luke hits Vader in the neck but soarks fly from the shoulder, or where Vader's saber is too short ot actually cut through the pipes/antennas cause the VFX guys didn't rotoscope the blade properly.
There's not a single sword-fight that looks good when slowed down in all of western cinema.
