How badly did The Hobbit fuck him up?

Attached: image.jpg (630x472, 48.5K)

he directed that steampunk movie with London on wheels?
it was a giant flop

he is still trying to tunnel through the mountain of cash blocking his front door.

he just produced it

Don't know who that is.

>oh hey Peter! Tell me, son. Why are we shooting these scenes where I am in... before everything else?

Attached: peter.jpg (807x583, 84.82K)

Was it worth watching though?

LOTR was a fluke, it was good because of the source material created by Tolkien. All the bad parts of the trilogy are things Hackson added on his own

If Warners had any sense they'd sit him in a room with the rushes and allow him to edit The Hobbit properly and redo some of the effects. It seriously didn't need to be that long and you could see he was padding things out just to get 3 movies.

jackson is based
you're a faggot and i hope you and your whole family dies of corona

Would Christopher Lee call anyone 'son'? Seems a bit estuarine, and Lee was very well spoken.

it was supposed to be 2 from the beginning when del toro was doing it which would have been PERFECT. studio demanded 3 movies and he bailed

He did make 10/10 documentary kino They Shall Not Grow Old.

it was nothing great but unironically very watchable

He's currently restoring his first four films for Blu Ray

Settle down peter

being at the helm of that disaster of a trilogy would break any filmmaker. that production was an absolute shambles plagued by politics and studio meddling to the nth degree.

>lead actress only signs on if no love triangle
>assured no love triangle
>film no love triangle
>studio edits love triangle in post

mortal engines was the best 2010s ya trash film and had best girl

based, finally someone who gets it

Jackson had little to do with it though

Reminder that during the filming of the hobbit, Jackson tried to cover up murders and defend the guilty party. He’s human scum

? what r u talking bout. fill me in.

its too late hes clearly too far gone

>How badly did The Hobbit fuck him up?
pretty fucking bad. pulling 18-20 hour days 7 days a week for years, having to write the script and rewrite scenes the day of shooting. ALL of the pre-production scrapped by the producers (along with del toro) so forced to fabricate all of the props and sets as they were needed rather than years in advance. producer committee lost faith in the project because of del toro so they are constantly making changes and forcing re-writes on jackson.

saw what you will about him, but he got the shit end of the stick on this one. it was a gauntlet for all involved but it was such a negative experience i'm surprised he didnt leave the film industry then and there.

a lot of the problem stories and designs with the films (like tauriels love triangle) were forced rewrites demanded by the producers against wishes of jackson and the actors, its the classic story of the producers turning a film into a train wreck by taking the control away from the director (originally del toro, likely because he wouldnt fold to their demands so they ousted him, though its all NDA so who knows)

there are several documentaries on youtube outlining the series' problems and the toll they took

Why do they continue doing it? Has producer meddling ever actually significantly improved a movie?

Ew. I think this is a literal vagina posting somehow.

they dont give a fuck about the quality of the film, they just want to make more money. a love triangle gets the female audience. these movies made $3bil

New Zealands obsession with WW1 is fucking retarded and Im sick to death of it.

The Hobbit fucked him up as badly as he fucked up The Hobbit.

I'm not having that, it could have easily been fucked up, Jackson did a good job.

Because most producers' end goal is not a good movie, but a profitable one

B-but muh Gallipoli, muh brief moment of relevance

It was very competently adapted considering the difficult source material. Good balance between staying true to the story and making it dynamic and entertaining for the screen.

he can finish his restorations of Meet the Feebles, Bad Taste, Brain Dead and The Frighteners and then he can fuck off forever.
Fucking George Lucas syndrome hack hasn't made anything good ever since Fellowship of the Ring.

>nothing slated for the foreseeable future apart from restoration documentaries
But that's a good thing, user. All of his directorial efforts since LoTR have been pure shit, then out of nowhere They Shall Not Grow Old was total kino and loved by all. Released for free on TV as well.
I'm glad he's found a good use for his CGI obsession and an interesting direction for his late career. I never want to see him direct another fiction film.

Can you link me to a good one? I've only seen Lindsay Ellis'.

remembering this has ruined my day

This was incredible kino, I’d be happy if he stuck to it

You can't just stumble into LOTR level of quality.

>changing the aspect ratio by cropping top and bottom off the historical footage

I FUCKING hate it when people do this

This dude was the only interesting part of the film though. Everything was standard ya garbage. My younger sister couldn't even stop herself laughing with how cliche the film was.

Agreed.

The movies are still good though. People who say they are trash are just memeing.

Wtf is this?

They did more than you you American fuckwit.

Attached: hero_remember-anzac.jpg (615x486, 43.79K)

jfc i had forgotten how ugly this film was. like a high school animation project.

>standard ya garbage
but there was no virus

WW1 was kino fuck off

What the fuck even is this scene?

>when the kiwi kicks in

He is making a documentary about the Beatles

oh boy that sounds really amazing

The poster you replied to is not American. I am, and just from his brief sentence I can tell he is not.

they are ok movies by 2020 standards, but they were really dissapointing by comparison in the shadow of the lotr films. most criticisms are the overuse of CG for unbelievable effects and some of the more ridiculous scenes, especially in the 3rd film, of silly action sequences, and the inclusion of a love triangle

I don't think he really wanted to direct the Hobbit films, I imagine he just got burnt out by them

>oh holla pet'r! bid me, son. Wherefore art we shooting these scenes wh're i am in...bef're ev'rything else?

why did this guy just die all of a sudden?

Artie Lang

Because he does in the book. He isn't actually dead though.

based

i think he did kinda want to do them eventually, but under different circumstances
i'm almost certain he's not perfectly happy with how the hobbit movies turned out
on the behind the scenes he basically admitted what a rushfest the third movie was and how he had to make stuff up on the spot while filming because there wasn't enough time
