i never understood this. why would they dig out an old, rusty battleship and then spend a fuckton of money to basically rebuild it while maintaining a shape and functions that make no sense in space, when they could've just built another much much less effort and time and money expenditure. also in the movies the yamato looks HUEG, i mean kilometers long while in reality it was barely 260 meters long. how the fuck did they manage to proportionally enlarge it, while also keeping (for some reason) the original hull?
