I started watching it and was sad of how bland it was and how it lacked any of the atmosphere that was present in the movie. So many of the environments and stuff are just so bland. I'm sure it's faithful to the manga, but it's not better by any means

Oshii never wanted to do it, he wasn't interested in doing ghost in the shell to begin with but ig kept begging him and eventually said he could do whatever he wanted so he made it to an ode to French literature and weird German doll art that he liked as a young man
