Cloud still being upset about aerith when it was established in ffvii that he's accepted it isn't. Sephiroth acting like cloud is his sworn enemy isn't, cloud was more of an annoyance in the game, not a rival. Todays character being reduced to "oh no cloud, cloud, cloud" instead of being the badass with a cool demeanor in the game isn't. The Turks being turned into 100% gag characters wasn't. The Sephiroth clones didn't really make sense.
So no, not really overall.

Yes. I had a religious experience in the part of the movie in the bahamut fight when cloud first jumps up off the ground to reach barret who would grab his hand and throw him up. As soon as cloud jumped up, the song that was playing played Trumpets, and I had a massive shiver up my spine and into my brain and everything went blurry and I saw glitter floating in the air and i felt like I had the biggest dopamine load my brain had ever blown.

This is a surprisingly fair assessment. Looked good, action was good, didn't follow the character arcs at all and the other party members were mostly underutilized.
The rest of the party literally only shows up to go "look, this is final fantasy 7, remember we're here too" except for Vincent who actually plays an important and interesting part.

I think they showed the highlights a bit in AC but its been a longtime since I watched it. I remember AC got a lot of hype/hate. Personally I thought it was pretty good even though it was over the top anime style.
