The Fall of Simpsons

What caused it. The celebrity specials. The animation or simply the people who left

>I'm not going
*sad mouths

Kinda shows what we've always known.
Seasons 1-7: Best
Seasons 8-12: Good
Seasons 13+: Junk with a few good episodes.

>What caused it.
time. Look up some other things, user. You'll see that they too won't last forever

The writers that left

for film/television/video games a 6 is absolute garbage

Yea, don't you know how a 10 scale rsting system works?
7 is ok.
8 is good.
9 is the tops.
10 is perfect.
Anything below 7 is meh.

>A D isn't bad
Retard detected.

What are the two bad ones in s6 and 9?

>last episode rated "great" is from 2001

I knew the 3.9 was gonna be the Lady Gaga episode before I even checked. Wasn't sure what the 4.6 episode from season 30 was though. Bart vs. Itchy & Scratchy, no recollection of this. Just read the synopsis. Yikes.

Season 6 episode 3 is "Another Clip Show." Season 9 episode 11 is "All Singing, All Dancing" (which is a clip show made up of songs from previous episodes).

Post it.

>Bart's friends start a boys rights activist group to protest Krusty's all-female reboot of Itchy and Scratchy. When they catch Bart enjoying it, they kick him out, so he joins Bossy Riot, a militant feminist gang of sixth-grade girls.

what's the great episode in season 12?

The only good episode of The Simpsons ever is Season 11 Episode 5

"Trilogy of Error", which follows three plotlines

Remember back when people were in denial about the show jumping the shark?

It doesn't look that great.

>not green
OH NO NO NO SNEEDBROS WE GOT TOO COCKY

7,8

what the fuck. It isn't even hard to write an episode of the simpsons

>Bart loses Lisa's to a school bully
>has to devise way to bring it back to her before the school performance
>insert some small side story stuff with Homer and Marge going around the school laughing at the dumb shit kids do no one cares about (macaroni pictures, homer eats one maybe)
>uses his 'devil may care' attitude and wit to steal it back
>feel good moment about sibling love
>cool musical ending / ironic ending where they never perform anyway

Like how do they fuck it up. It's a ismple formula about family values with some insanity thrown in ala comic books.

what do you expect
no show can be good for more than like 9 seasons at most
its just not possible for people to churn out good stuff for that long without burning out or running out of ideas

lisa's saxophone* sorry my first draft was a little ROUGH

FYI, the two garbage episodes marked in blue are the Lady Gaga one and the recent one where Bart become a feminist

looks kino to me

Highest rated episode. Do you agree?

Attached: images - 2020-04-07T184420.669.jpg (638x480, 23.69K)

why is s1 rated so highly?
it's bad quality animation, the characters are 2 wacky, the humour has no sublety, the voice actors sucks

>blue

>Nooo you can't enjoy crude animations they have to be huge budget productions!!!!

Okay Disney.

it's pretty good for being an episode of the zombie Simpsons era, but it doesn't hold a candle to the best episodes of the first 8 or so seasons.

Nope.

season one was super comfy, had a lot of heart and was very groundbreaking and influential at the time

For IMDB standards a 6 is painfully mediocre.

Yep. To be fair though, Simpsons died a slow death. OP's image shows this. The quality slowly declined around season 9, and only starts getting really bad around season 17. There's a several season gap that are just "regular" (season 14 has 20 "regular" episodes and 2 "good" episodes).
Personally, I stopped watching in season 11. The last episode I watched new was the one with Kid Rock, and while it had a lot of dumb shit in it (like Kid Rock) it still had a few alright jokes. I see it's rated "bad" and I can see that. It's been called "the worst episode" before and yet that was before shit like the Lady Gaga episode. If you took that episode and plopped it into the current season, people would call it "regular." I really stopped watching not so much because the show was bad but rather that it got boring and didn't hold my interest any more. I spent over a decade watching the show, season 1 started when I was in elementary school and I watched it back then with my whole family, and by season 11, it was time to move on to new things.

Last Exit To Springfield

I think that's the thing: it's all relative. For season 12, it probably is the best episode, but is it really better than a "good" or "regular" episode from an earlier season? Yeah, probably not. Hell, I'd take one of the old clip episodes over it.

I'm showrunner for the Simpsons. Figure out a way to work in the Tiger King lady as a guest star and give it a sci fi element and I'l buy that script.

don't even joke about that shit. Celebrity nonsense is part of why the Simpsons deteriorated.

Do you think they do this for advertising, or because they can't think of any other plot ideas?

Both

Tiger King lady wants new man, goes to Springfield after seeing a clickbait article about world's dumbest man and it's Homer and she try seduce Homer and Marge mad so Marge and Tiger King lady fight and then make out. B plot Lisa and Bart make a TikTok and it go big viral.

Script two: Lisa go crazy because quarantine and no school and Bart make u mad trollface epic style but Lisa realize she like study alone and Bart begin miss school then Lisa invent the virus cure to help the Bart. B-plot Homer and Marge make a TikTok and it go big viral.

What are the 2 bad episode from season 6 and 9?

SOLD Welcome to the writer's room.

Like all good things, it eventually came to an end. Look at any long-running show: Spongebob, Family Guy, Doctor Who, Supernatural (sorry whovians and spn fans)
After a while they end up running out of material and have to rely on recycling old plots or jokes to keep people watching it. I also notice (more with family guy and spongebob) the personalities become more 1 dimensional like the writers themselves forgot who they really were

they are both clip shows

You only move twice is objectively the best episode, no matter what people say

There should be way more greens in season 4

Whats amazing is that it was so good for so long. There is absolutely no reason to think a show with different writers would be in any way as good.

Script three: Homer make tweet and get cancel. Homer go on journey to uncancel. Homer punch Orange President Bad Man. Everybody clap. Mr. Burn give job back to Homer because scared of Homer punch. B-plot Lisa and Bart turn Maggie into meme.

Dr Who is basically scifi anything goes, I think its current fall is not due to length, but due to a lack of talent.
They make good audio stories of it with original plots.

Sneed

Can't be real

9/11

What's your turning point personally

For me it was the Ben Stiller sugar episode. At least I think it was about sugar. Terrible

That's a good point user. I remember being angry at some of the writers for making dr who too "dark"

Season 10 - Episode 5 When You Dish Upon a Star

The scale starts at 5

5 = 0/5
6 = 1/5
7 = 2/5
8 = 3/5
9 = 4/5
10 = 5/5

You know it's true, nobody even touches

S1 is the best season, the most subtle and adult humour the show ever had. It became much more wacky and slapstick after that. Funnier, but it lost the original heart and moral compass you had in those first classic episodes.

Thanks informative user
Also witnessed

yes because the only people who rate tv episodes are the people who already watch and like the show so if the score is below 8 you should expect shit

Ok Mrs. Lovejoy

this isn't real right?

Showing once again, feminists are absolute cancer who ruin everything.

is that a stab at a joke like link related? youtube.com/watch?v=eqfVd1s5E_o

They should have just ended it after Simpsons movie... I cant even think of anyone who still watches it on a weekly basis

Only noteworthy or valuable thing about the Simpsons is how long it's been running, and there's no fucking way FOX is going to let that sickly unfunny horse die in peace. They're gonna milk it until it's rotten horse nipples fall off.

Cape Feare is objectively the best Simpsons ep ever.
Although YOMT is a clise second
Grimes is waaay overrated

Wrong you fucking faggot, when Al Jean tookover it fucking nosedived, end of story.

Dubs confirm.

youtube.com/watch?v=J4FwrBk-QD0

Nope

It's prolly just a CIA demoralization psy op at this point

I feel like I'm one of the only guys around who doesn't really care for You only move twice.

Bart the daredevil is the best simpsons episode.

No. The subplots are not funny enough to make it the best ever.
Unlike Cape Feare where everything clicks.

It's true what some wise user said recently, it should have ended with behind the laughter.

What ever the fuck happened between season 9 and 10

I mean, it was guaranteed to happen. But the answer is pretty obvious, most of the initial writing staff left, Groening stopped letting them experiment with the animation and they moved past the 90s within the show.

Summer of 4 Ft. 2 would have been a good ending as well

>boomers create good and long running show
>millennials are slowly gaining more authority and influence
>turn it into cancer
Millennials were unironically a mistake.
