Honestly, I don't know. There are still some good filmmakers but I think the Jap industry doesn't focus enough on their own product and prefer anime shit. But I'm not an expert on Japan so I'm not sure, it's the vibe I get. Their entertainment industry seems too focus on anime and video games far more.

Don't know if anyone could help, but I'm trying to look for a Japanese horror film. All I can remember is that it was about this Black Demon Parasite that haunted a girls house. It seemed like normal horror film til some Guy in a Suit shows up randomly and it tasked to get rid of the black parasite demon ghost thing. It seemed sort of anime like but it wasn't from an anime. Another scene I remember is the black parasite killing a dog in some girls house.
