Just watched this in Japanese w/subs. Fucking amazing. More like this?

Watch the 1958 film if you haven't seen it obvisouly.
Evangelion.
Torrenting now.
Watched the first episode and wasn't grabbed too hard. Guessing I should give it more of a chance?
Yes
The director of Shin Godzilla made Evangelion and to be honest Shin godzilla felt a lot more like an extended episode of Evangelion to me than it felt like Godzilla to me. It also used Evangelion's soundtrack throughout the entire film.
Not anything like Evagodzilla.
i hate shin godzilla
godzilla vs mechagodzilla
I'll stick with it
Shin Godzilla is kino and also the first thing I saw directed by Anno, kek
This, and then stop there.
Every other godzilla flick is manchild drivel.
These are the only two worth watching. The only two that can be considered films.
The rest are capeshit for zipperheads
I just want you to know that you have shit taste and I hate you.
Cry harder numale.
This predicted covid 19 in Japan
Lmao you’re a retard, we had a thread discussing this yesterday. It’s a critique on the Japanese governments handling of the Fukushima Meltdown incident.
Covid-19 is shaping up to be another clusterfuck but that says more about the general ineptitude of Japanese politicians than it does about Anno’s future predicting ability.
what's a 1958 film
the us version?
I hate Evangelion fags so much
To understand evangelion you have to understand that the guy who made it was hired to make a robot cartoon to sell toys to kids and had such a nervous breakdown that halfway through he decided it was going to be about his incel depression
Must've meant 1954.
2deep4u
And in doing so he made kinotography
just watch these and you're all set
Not appreciating the kino that is classic Showa Godzilla movies is more of a numale trait, tbqh.
Take your Shin garbage and shove it right up your ass.
KaijuKino
Gainax didn't need to hire Anno he already worked for them and in fact helped found them
Sounds great!
Evangelion was not sponsored by toy company
>We visited Gainax towards the end of January. By then, they were busy refining the first few episodes of the new TV series “New Century Evangelion.” To start off our information gathering, Anno Hideaki said, “How could I think of doing an old-fashioned robot anime?”
>“One reason is that we thought it would be good to put on TV a robot anime that is not sponsored by a toy company.”
>He said that since having an attached sponsor can interrupt how the mecha is designed, this work was not going to have one. He also said, “Robot anime has been stuck in a pattern, and we wanted to break out of it.” They are trying to make a film with an entirely different stance than “robot anime” being made with tie-ins to ordinary toy companies.
>Also, as he was involved in this work he had a thought something like the following. “For example, I wonder if a person over the age of twenty who likes robot anime is really happy. He could find greater happiness elsewhere. Regrettably, I have my doubts about his happiness.”
Why are you so mad soíboy? Mad because movies about two grown men in rubber suits is for children? Lmao get fucked cuck
Shin Ultraman eventually
Zoom harder
Torrenting Godzilla vs Mothra battle for Earth, can only find an English dub, let's hope it doesn't suck
>for the final suspense they put these boring Evangelion wannabes on the tail
>when all they had to do was to put a ball that vaguely looks like coronavirus
There Wasted the potential to become the real prophecy movie
I got on a Godzilla kick lately. I...I don't know. I've seen like 4 of them now, and I can't say I really like them. I guess it's just not for me. I appreciate the original for what it is, but I could never buy Godzilla was real. Just ruins the feeling of the movie if you can't get into it. Then I watched Godzilla VS Mothra, Ghiddorah The Three Headed Beast, and the '84 sequel. Godzilla VS Mothra was probably my favorite, but even then I got bored like 3/4ths of the way through.
>He's an old man still watching this embarassing cringe shit
OH NO NO NO NO NO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, wasn't sure what the point of this was, but when it looks this fucking cool, who cares
Why are you arguing with idiots that only want (you)s, you’re basically rewarding thrm
are you suggesting we *don't* feed the trolls?
This was cringe
Hmmm, which one should I watch tonight Yas Forums?
This is why Misato was my favorite
I just want more about the command Center and finding creative solutions to crisis
>Character talks about becoming president
>Wall of Jewish stars in the background
Seems pretty BASED to me
What's in the supplements?
I actually haven't watched that yet so I don't know, but here's stuff from the Criterion page for it
>Directors Guild of Japan interview with director Ishiro Honda, conducted by director Yoshimitsu Banno in 1990
>Featurette detailing Godzilla’s photographic effects
>Toho Unused Special Effects Complete Collection, a 1986 documentary featuring archival making-of footage; scenes deleted from films including Destroy All Monsters, King Kong vs. Godzilla, and Mothra vs. Godzilla; and interviews with Honda, producer Tomoyuki Tanaka, special-effects director Teruyoshi Nakano, and others
>New interview with filmmaker Alex Cox about his admiration for the Showa-era Godzilla films
>New and archival interviews with cast and crew members, including actors Bin Furuya, Tsugutoshi Komada, Haruo Nakajima, and Akira Takarada; composer Akira Ifukube; and effects technicians Yoshio Irie and Eizo Kaimai
>Interview with critic Tadao Sato from 2011
>Illustrated audio essay from 2011 about the real-life tragedy that inspired Godzilla
Because Shinbabbies need to be reminded that they don't belong.
I could not finish it for some reason although i really liked the 'angels' as they're called (they're kaiju though, c'mon). The guy who made it said specifically that fans make it out to be 2deep4u despite that not being the case. I am a sucker for references to the book of enoch, and making an action show from these kinds of concepts really brought me in. I could not stand the depressed chick, Shinji's dad, and at some points I found shinji's absolute exaggerated social awkwardness to be unrelatable and dry.
Great creature design tho, including the mechs which are supposedly semi-living creatures or whatever. I love the lanky appearance of them, much different than something like transformers of traditional Gundam.
The Japanese version of Godzilla vs King Kong is in there too
>Godzilla raids again
>Good
Take it off the list, I beg you.
I remember someone said if you didn’t watch Eva as a teenager you missed out and I think I agree. I basically refuse to rewatch it because when I saw it when I was Shinji’s age it was basically the greatest thing mankind created, I’m scared if I rematch it now I’ll hate it
>Cuckterion
This thread is peak numale
why?
it shows the aftermath of 1954 as if showing the aftermath of WWII
it's a good film if not great
at least better than other showa schlocks
Invasion of the Astro-Monster
sounds accurate man, it really would have been kino for my early teenage years
It's very schlocky, the direction is poor, the tone and artisinal style is imediately eschewed. The only parts of the film worthwhile are the fight in Osaka and the climax burying Godzilla. It's not bad, but it's not special. It dropped the ball. Say what you will about the schlock later on, but it was clever and talented schlock until about 1969. Raids Again is just a long episode of a bad soap opera in comparison to its predecessor. True it is hard to step up from the first film, but this one didn't really try to. It was a sequel first, and a "good enough" film second.
He has a point.
Evangelion is a slow burn
Do you think anyone cares?
Yas Forums loves Breaking Bad
You just picked my movie for tonight. Helps that I'm kind of hype for the Magic cards.
Michael Dougherty is a Jew.
Tfw he doesn't have prerecorded re-runs from kaiju fests.
