Michael, Jason, and Freddy are significantly more famous than the rest.

The big 3 will always be Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. Every other famous slasher villain is a tier below, at least.

...

this is not an answer to my question

Yeah its big 3.
Always has been probably always will be
as far as tiers

Tier 1
Michael, Jason, and Freddy

Tier 2
Leather Face, Ash, Chucky

Tier 3
Pinhead, Ghost face

Tier 4
Candy man, the Tall man

why ? why you think that ? i think chucky is very famous, big merchandise and toys and what about ghostface who stolen the fame of the so called "big three" in the 90's !?

The Hellraiser and Phantasm series aren't slasher movies.

There's a new KING of the slasher genre, pleb.

>this is not an answer to my question
If you knew how to read, it is.

ash above pinhead ? not sure about that.

and you forgot Hannibal lecter and even jigsaw

Who has had the most sequels and the most longevity?
Certainly Halloween and Friday the 13th fall into that category. Freddy maybe slightly more debatable since hes had, 2 movies in the last 20 years? But then he was in the vs movie with Jason which is rather unique and elevates him.
Simply put its just these 3 at the top, no others and that's the way it should be

that's not iconic, that's is a shit and lame and boring DTV movie

they are slashers, the chains and the spheres are the equivalent of the razor glove or the knife

I was using OPs list. Id put ash above pinhead since he got a show on stars and hellraiser is straight to video now

>they are slashers, the chains and the spheres are the equivalent of the razor glove or the knife
Nope, they are sci-fi horror movies basically.

ghostface made more money than any elm street or friday movie, and the ghostface costume in everywhere for halloween season since 25 years

chucky fall into the category about longevity, 32 years dude ! 32 years !

they are, the proof ? pinhead and the tall man were considered for a sequel of FvJ

what is your ranking if you add Hannibal, jigsaw, leprechaun, the ring, carrie

I'll concede ghost face mask point, I may have underrated him by a tier but really Chucky I don't think is as iconic as Michael Jason or Freddy. Yeah hes had movies for 32 years but how long have Friday and Halloween gone on for. H Kills will mark what 42 years?
Jason may be stuck in court but he did just have his own game where as other slashers got put in dead by daylight with a bunch of generic ones.
Chucky meanwhile is doing straight to video stuff isn't he?
That's why I put him in Tier 2.

if i understand you correctly, if chucky is in a vs movie you will say "now there is a big four" ???!!!………………..

Possibly. Think about it, Hollywood at least tends to vs movies for major ips like theyre doing with Godzilla and king kong and they did for AVP
not many other versus movies here that I can think of, at least major ones.

the last chucky movie is the 2019's reboot, he made 45 millions at the box office.

yeah halloween is 42 years old :

halloween 1978
friday 1980
elm street 1984
scream 1996

so what about jigsaw, Hannibal, the ring or carrie ? do you think they are famous like Freddy or jason ?

ash isn't a slasher he's a hero

Attached: armyofdarkness.jpg (509x771, 186.85K)

the fact that a character is in a vs movie do not made him iconic

No. That's not what Im sayin. Im saying its a sign that they are iconic. Proof if you will of their status

yeah but he is part of this world, ash is Always associated with Freddy, jason, myers and so on

do you think Hannibal, carrie, jigsaw, the ring are iconic like Freddy, jason, myers ?

If we're talking US only and not Japan, Id say theyre less famous except maybe jigsaw and Hannibal (and him I don't consider a slasher, more of just a crime drama villain)
Ring's reboot flopped bad. Carrie doesn't seem to come up much anywhere anymore. But Jigsaw has another movie on the way with some fairly big name actors in it

carrie is famous everywhere, doesn't she ? the original is iconic, everyone knows the prom scene.

you think sadako is the equivalent of Freddy in japan ?

Ring is pretty big in Japan isn't it?
So she might be yeah.
The prom scene is famous I suppose but, really I don't think I know anyone that's actually seen the movie. Meanwhile most have seen at least 1 Halloween, Friday, or NOES movie

Ask yourself this, if you go up to someone who never watches horror movies would they know who the character is? In the case of Micheal Myers, Jason, and Freddy the answer is yes guaranteed. My little old mother absolutely despises horror movies and avoids them to the best of her ability knows who these characters are. People are also likely to know who Chucky is, but there are some zoomers out there who wouldn't have heard of him so he's a tier below, same with Pinhead. After that it gets less and less likely for people to know who the characters are, hell there are some self-proclaimed "horror buffs" who probably have no idea who the tall man is.

everyone knows the texas chainsaw massacre EVERYONE ! same for Hannibal lecter ! and chucky is probably one of the most famous doll in the world

Oh come on, slashers can be set in a sci-fi setting, is Jason X not a slasher movie? I'd even count the original Alien and Alien 3 as slasher movies (Aliens isn't, for obvious reasons).

Honestly, I think you're giving zoomers too much credit. They have probably heard of TCM, but if you ask them who leatherface is they would probably draw a blank, or at most say "is that some guy from a horror movie?". Hannibal Lector I'll grant you and most people still have heard of Chucky, but you don't understand how out of touch many zoomers are from the movies from the 80's and 90's. These are kids who have watched all the Saw and Paranormal Activity movies but none of the old slashers, they are more likely to tell you about how great the Conjuring is than talk about The Evil Dead or Scream.

OP is autistic in the wild

You already made a thread like this. People pointed out you barely now what you're talking about. You've played a fan-made fighting game called Terrordrome and that's where your knowledge of "slashers" comes from, which is why you're still including Ash in that list.

>archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/131206819/#131208057

fuck off moron

i include ash because ash is Always associated with Freddy and jason ! stupid dummy ! he is not a slasher but he is part of the universe of Freddy and jason !

This ESL underage retard also includes Ash from Evil Dead in the list every time he makes this thread. Last time he included even more non-slashers, like Herbert West from Re-Animator.
He's seen 1 or 2 movies (not entire franchises, individual movies) from that list. Hasn't even bothered to look at the Wikipedia pages for the rest.

define a slasher then !

because for me the tall man, pinhead or Hannibal are slasher, so where are you proofs that i'm wrong about that ? because i want your opinions !

it's like saying "nick fury doesn't belong to a marvel list because he is not a superhero" !

ash or pinhead are maybe not "real slasher" but hey are part of this world

No, he isn't.
There was one comic series based on the concept, and it's even less canon than Freddy vs Jason. It didn't make enough impact to have Ash be "always associated" with the other two.

i have seen re-animator dummy ! all three movies are great ! the needle is the equivalent of the razor glove or the machete in my opinion ! for me a slasher is a killer with a weapon

in very fan art ash is in it ! he will Always be associated with them !

"Slashers" are the antagonists in slasher movies.
Phantasm, Evil Dead and the Hannibal franchise are not slasher movies. You could argue Hellraiser is, I guess.
It's as simple as that.

why you say "no" for phantasm ? explain !

*dabs on you*

Attached: B95EFBB5-4D4E-4428-9841-D405E7483E2C.jpg (600x300, 25.6K)

phantasm is the ancestor of the elm street movies, it's a slasher dude ! the tall man is a pure boogeyman like Freddy or candyman, Hannibal is not a boogeyman i've give you that

>in every fan art
>underage ESL fag actually thinks a handful of Deviantart pics help any of his points

the deviantart are the proofs ! why would people make fanart with Ash and freddy if they didn't see them as members of the same world?
fuck ESL fag ! and fuck you fucker

Always bums me out when Maniac Cop doesn't get mentioned in a slasher thread. The trilogy is so fucking fun, especially the first two. A perfect mix of action and slasher

This nigga know's whats up.

Michael, Freddy and Jason are woven into the fabric of American society for sure which will never let them truly die. Ash is there as well, but he's basically a super hero.

The Hell Priest(Pinhead) isn't really a slasher villain till the 3rd film and Hellraiser as a whole is to high concept for most casual viewers. Leatherface really can only hang his hat on maybe 4 movies of vastly differing tones. All in all both series suffer from terrible franchise butchering by producers like the Weinstien's so most likely many newcomers to horror saw their latest films and never returned to watch their older ones like I did as a kid.

I don't think people are actually threatened by Ghost face or Chucky but the movies are popular far more than the chainsaw or Hellraiser movies.
In terms of consistency and quality I think they may slightly be underrated.

Candyman 1 is dated as fuck and barely watchable. Too slow, self important and nonsensical maybe the book holds up better.

Phantasm is only recognized by 80's kids. The first movie is almost dated due to a huge lul in the middle, but the sequel pick it back up. That being said the Tallman isn't even as famous as his ripoff slender man, so he is only an icon to horror fans but is completely obscure.

my ranking of the most famous

Freddy
jason
myers
leatherface
chucky
pinhead
ghostface
norman bates
ash
the tall man
Hannibal
jigsaw
candyman
leprechaun
pumpkinhead

Let me put it like this.
Halloween is the movie that "created" the slasher genre. Similar movies, in concept, had been made before it - Black Christmas, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, you name it. These movies are frequently referred to as 'proto-slashers', because they didn't quite meet the criteria for the genre that Halloween created, in one way or another.
Phantasm was made and released after Halloween. Other than "having an antagonist", Phantasm has nothing at all in common with Halloween. The Tall Man is not a serial killer. The one or two victims in the movie don't qualify it for a slasher movie, both because of their number and because of the manner in which they are killed and their deaths are portrayed in the movie.
Phantasm is not a slasher, it's a surreal fantasy horror franchise that later turns into a post-apocalyptical story more comparable to Terminator than any slasher movie.

"more comparable to Terminator" … lol stop you are ridiculous… phantasm is an elm street bis

I'm assuming you haven't seen the last couple of Phantasms.

I'd say the Big Three are Jason, Freddy, and Michael.
Big Four would include Leatherface. Big Five would include...Shit, I don't know. Chucky or Ghostface.

Let me fix that for you
Most famous also means most mainstream/recognizable. Tv shows like Bates motel and Hannibal have risen the profile of those characters. Evil dead 2 is consistenly voted best horror movie of the 80s practically everywhere and the tv show has kept him in the public.

Let me break it down for you if they havent appeared in a mortal kombat game they aren't truly mainstream.

>Mainstream Characters
Jason
Freddy
Michael
Ash
Xenomorph
Predator
Chucky
jigsaw
Ghostface
Leatherface

>Popular Characters
Norman Bates
Hannibal
leprechaun
Pinhead

>Litteraly who
Candyman
the tall man
pumpkinhead

It's the Big Five

>Jason Voorhes
>Freddy Krueger
>Michael Meyers
>Leatherface
>Ghostface

These were the characters that raked in the dough, established the genre themes, and cemented themselves in popular culture.

Attached: image0.jpg (750x721, 558.68K)

>leather face
>same tier as Jason Freddy and Michael
No.

Leatherface is on par, the "true story" of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a spooky story we told on the playground.

What the fuck ? Predator and Alien are not slasher movies

He doesn't have the same iconism but that's just because it's hard to make a convincing human skin mask to sell at Spirit Halloween.

Plus dusty brown doesn't stand out like stark white or red/green stripes.

Ttcm is a famous movie on par with the big 3
Big six with chucky

The last scene of the original ttcm is so much iconic

Big six are fred, jay, mike, leather, chuck and ghost

Pinhead is not mainstrean

Evil dead's ash is mainstrean or not ?

Do you think that someone who have never seen a horror movie knows who ash is ?
