All the stuff about race was way overdone and way too dishonest and internally inconsistent. Seriously... a KKK conspiracy in New York City? A cop gets mock-lynched by other cops in the most Yankee of Yankee cities? It seemed like after a while they didn't even care. I would have preferred to see the war between the two factions play out to its conclusion and for the cops to have to deal with their own increasingly draconian measures which were hinted at when they first argued in their meeting about whether to authorize the carrying of firearms or not (remember Panda Guy was saying it was a huge mistake).

The writer quite visibly didn´t understand the point of several storylines in the original comic, butchered several characters, and every addition he brought was nonsensical or self-important.

The fact that he tried to elevate its importance by making it abour race was just embarresing. If he had just been honest and written cape-show for it to be its own story, everything would have been fine, but he tried to loot the reputation of the original comic. Its lack of confidence in one´s own creative abilities at its worst

I mean if we're talking about people that like this show, sure, but in hindsight it seems like most people don't need everything broken down for them because they can't handle something as complex as a comicbook with a giant fake squid in it. Both attempts to make the media more 'serious' flopped terribly even if critics seemed to like some parts because it talked about things they understood. I'll give Snyder credit that he at least thought he was doing something a little planned out to tie into the overarching narrative and just fell short on the execution, but just because he failed shouldn't have meant the dumbass who wrote this show shouldn't even have attempted to write a finale that was thoughtful. When you're so terrible at writing you play straight the very concepts that were mocked and subverted with cleverness and poise in the original, you should just stick to mysteries you'll never be able to answer. At least he found some audience out there, some idiots who looked at this work that gave a happy ending to watchmen of all things forged on coincidences and happenstance just to make sure everyone was written as so, and who's attempt to write the worlds smartest man came off as a toddler trying to write Sherlock Holmes from scratch, and they cheered it. But the rest of the world seems to have forgotten this train wreck that was shitcanned after a single season. Or maybe HBO were just so dedicated to the story of Watchmen that they would never want to continue on with a continuation if the creator said he didn't want it, they certainly seem like the type, and it was always going to be a one and done thing they shoved into the corner when they were finished. In the end, regardless, this was just another failed attempt at Watchmen's influence, just another one of many.

This thing was massively expensive, if with all that money they couldn't do better than that then they really shouldn't have had Manhatten in there, should they?
