Droids in the background

They should have open fire the second Obi Wan landed. None of this makes any sense. I also don't know why Grevious purposefully wanted to one v one Obi Wan when the whole movie he was a mustache twirling villain who let his lackeys do the fighting. If Gevious was acting like he did in the Clone Wars cartoons I could see this because that Grevious is cool and intimidating. This guy is a joke and has a stupid 80's Russian badguy accent.
>everyone has automatic weapons
>battles play out with both sides using 18th century line tactics
Indefensible. They at least used trenches in Hoth
What if they had just opened fire. Would Kenobi have regretted being so brazen?
Why would the confederacy have droids man their battle tanks? Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to be autonomous?
And wouldn’t droids come with aimbot? There’s no way a sophisticated army of robots would lose to clones. It’s easy to replace a robot. It takes decades to raise and train soldiers.
NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE
People try to explain this away by saying everyone forgot how to "war" after a thousand years of galactic peace. That all falls apart when you have these factions being lead by people that have combat training. Lucas just wanted to have action on the screen and using modern war tactics wouldn't be as epic.
Shooting blasters at a Jedi is kind of pointless.
They're childrens movies
The droids were predictable in their attack patterns which is why they could be defeated easily. Even the Clones suffered from this flaw in their design.
The droids are super cheap and unreliable. A lot of technology in Star Wars isn't particularly good. And/or it has too much personality.
I think that's the kind of stuff that makes the tech more interesting.
Yeah i like the movies but they made Grevious the warrior into a guy that just runs away and coughs.
>NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE
It was all rigged from the start. The clones vs droids was just a theater to get a majority of jedi killed.
Not when it's hundreds of blasters firing at once. We saw Ki-Adi-Mundi who was a Jedi master get killed by 5-6 clones with blasters. They can't block every shot coming at them as we see with him missing one that throws him off, preventing him from blocking the rest and he goes down.
Even making the Jedi generals who suck at conducting war was done on purpose to make the military hate the Jedi so when Palpatine took over, would gladly help get rid of these guys.
>Shooting blasters at a Jedi is kind of pointless.
Which is one of the reasons these movies are so fucking boring. And it also doesn't stop droids from trying. Pausing the background characters so the foreground characters can have their scene is amateurish writing you'll find children doing.
Never mind the irony of raising billions of slaves to fight for freedom. I could see an interesting contrast if the confederacy emphasized that their army was organized and fought by volunteers. The droids are a moral thing to use to prevent loss of life. That could have been a great contrast.
Unfortunately Lucas is a hack
Didnt you hear the amazing and campy line? "Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy...... then we shall have peace"
Just because you cant see an obvious point it doesnt mean hes a hack.
Only a hack deals in absolutes.
doing broadsides with star destroyers looks cool as hell, that's the only reason
Lol
But that makes sense in the context of the technology shown in the Star Wars universe
I agree with you, as pointed out above tech in star wars is stunted
>I also don't know why Grevious purposefully wanted to one v one Obi Wan when the whole movie he was a mustache twirling villain who let his lackeys do the fighting.
Because even IF he loses, at least Obi-Wan would've been overpowered by the droids.
But he’s repeatedly shown to be a coward
the ghost in the shell affects the plot armor overall
Most stuff in Star Wars makes no sense. They have shields, but can only protect against energy weapons. Solid material can pass right through it, making the shields pointless. Like in Jedi, fighters fly right through the shields of a Super Star Destroyer to blow up the shield generator to allow the energy weapons to hit the ship. Why not just use solid projectiles that ignore shields altogether? Fire all the missiles, rockets and torpedoes you can into an enemy ship and the shields won't do fuck all to protect it.
>Pausing the background characters so the foreground characters can have their scene is amateurish writing you'll find children doing.
living in japan, i hate this shit in every, fucking, thing. people are even vocal about getting tired of it but they dont stop because they have a backlog of 100000s of scripts they have to put through while there johnnys tarento or w/e the fuck is still at the correct age
It’s would be cool if they used kinetic and energy weapons. Each with their pluses and minuses.
The Halo aesthetic
Grevious told them not to fire where you not paying attention?
>Dooku tells Obi-Wan that a Sith lord controls the senate
>The same senate that just passed a bill to use a massive clone army that materialized out of thin air
>The same senate that just gave Palpatine emergency dictator powers
>"Should we investigate the senate?"
>"Nah, let's just go be generals in an intergalactic war"
Slug based weapons do exist in Star Wars which should be the main type of weapon seeing how shields would be useless against it.
I can still see how conventional guns would fit in to everything. Jedi should still be able to catch bullets with the force without breaking immersion to the setting.
Maybe star wars has really good bullet proof vests? I don’t know my lore too well
Actually they don't since slug throwers are so rare most armor is not designed to protect against them, so one guy with an LMG could take out a lot.
The only retarded thing about this is that he stopped spinning the blades which was a completely uncounterable move save for force push which obi barely used anyway. Had he done it nonstop he would have hade a chance of winning immediately. Nor he took advantage of having 4 arms. He was an idiot.
Actually in any case Obi-Wan had the advantage here since he is a master of form 3 which is a hard counter to form 2 which Grevious isn't even novice level in based on the movies.
It's almost as if he was acting dumb because the writer needed him to lose so Obi Wan could live on and be in ANH.
What do you mean repeatedly? He's only done it once in the films.
>the prequels make no sense
STOP THE PRESSES
How long does a lightsaber battery last?
>tfw you forgot to charge your battery before the big fight
Jedi deserved what was coming to them. They were completely inept.
The Droids had not been ordered to fire
Because it's the same products they would've been selling to customers before they went to war. Sure, you could sell somebody a fully autonomous tank droid, but the local security forces probably prefer having one of their own men inside, and that way you don't have to invest in developing a good droid brain to pilot the tank.
Well, somebody had to be out there stopping the CIS from committing all sorts of war crimes and genocides for profit, and just some clones alone probably wouldn't cut it. As a result, any Jedi worth the title would've rushed in to try and protect innocents from the latest Separatist superweapon program being tested on their villages or whatever they're plotting, and doing it enough times all over the galaxy, the Jedi are more or less forced to focus on the war, rather than investigating the senate to find an alleged Sith Lord puppeteering the whole thing.
Even if they did try that investigation, Palpatine and his allies probably would've pivoted to questioning the loyalty of the jedi, about why they were just letting innocents be oppressed by the eeevil separatists and instead focusing on a false accusation of one of the senators being a traitor.
Greivous is a prideful asshole who wouldn't have wanted the droids to get in the way of killing his most hated nemesis. If they'd tried firing, the droids would have probably hit Greivous by accident. Considering how vulnerable his ass was to blaster fire, and how innacurate the B1's were, it only makes sense that they wouldn't attack.
Sequelshitters get out.
his most hated nemesis? did they meet before?
>Greivous is a prideful asshole who wouldn't have wanted the droids to get in the way of killing his most hated nemesis
That's why when Obi Wan and Anakin broke free Grevious joins int he fight with his guards and doesn't run away.
They met numerous times in the Clone Wars show, and were leading commanders/strategists on either sides of the war. If they weren't rivals, they were at the very least aware of each-other.
All the more reason for Greivous to want to kill him by his own hand. The prideful Kaleesh would have wanted to cut down one of the most famous Jedi, it'd be the lynchpin of his collection. Furthermore, his former master in Doku had just been killed by Kenobi's apprentice. There was a score to settle.
He'd been given orders by Sideous not to engage.
Where was that shown in the movie?
It can be assumed, can't it? It's the only explanation between his two entirely different approaches, on and off the ship. Doku getting killed was all part of the Sith lord's plan, it's likely that he had a premenition on what was about to happen, and made sure that nobody would get in the way.
>everyone has automatic weapons
Do they? You can rarely see full auto fire from troops (except B2 droids).
No it cannot be assumed, especially when the movie showed Grevious had no idea about Dooku getting killed off and that Grevious was personally tasked with capturing Palpatine. Grevious has no idea Palpatine and Sidious are the same guy. He only understood he had to capture Palpatine to basically force the Republic to sue for peace. Obi Wan and Anakin were there to ruin his plans from his point of view. Killing them would have made his plan successful. Instead he's written to run away for no reason other than to give us the ship crash landing sequence.
Maybe he didn't like his odds? Fighting one jedi may have been fine for him, but there was an inherent danger to fighting two.
Grievous is proud. He wants to defeat jedi himself when he has the chance. Since he personally trained his guards he doesn't mind using them as an extension of himself, but his ego won't allow him to just use the rest of his droid forces to mow down a jedi if he can afford to entertain a fight. He's an interesting combination of pride with no honor. Biggest issue isn't the events of the scene itself, but that Grievous' character was made clear enough in the movie.
>back away, I will deal with this jedi slim myself
literally says why they don't attack
going by the original clone wars cartoon yes this is consistent with is character.
He really only fled once before this and that was because he was cornered by two of the best jedi in the galaxy on a sinking ship
Bullshit again as the cartoon shows him taking on multiple Jedi with ease due to his robot body being able wield multiple lightsabers at once and performs moves they couldn't like when he condenses his body and begins with spin it, creating a death circle they couldn't penetrate.
>"forget the war guys, we want to investigate all of you for treason and the extremely popular Chancellor for being a member of some old cult you've never heard of based on something the enemy leader has said to us"
Grivous is full of bravado and appearances. Hes a coward buy wants the respect of his troops. If he cowers in front of hia droids he loses their respect (droids have personalitoes in the SW universe)
His escape was a much safer attempt to kill them though. Smashing the window was a tactic that ensured his getaway and easily could have killed both jedi either from being sucked into the vacuum of space, or from the resulting crash.
Multiple untrained dickwads and padawans who were exhausted from a previous battle. Not two of the best jedi in the galaxy.
