/who/- Doctor Who General
Help me out, /who/. I'm trying to find a way to tell my friend that he's a dirty normie for thinking so highly of 10 without sounding condescending.
Just call him a fag and suck his dick.
Current standings according to survey.

The man wasn't even allowed to rest in peace. After the Doctor abandoned his ass for the last quarter of his life, of course.
Honestly, I think 10 is a bit of a pleb filter. I love the idea of a Doctor that is so deeply flawed and actually shows it. A Doctor that came too close to being human. I understand why people don't like him for not being a more traditional Doctor though.
I don't mean to invalidate the effort, but I don't think the poll is a very good metric. 5 suffered more than 9 or 11 did.
i'm not saying it's necessarily correct, it's just what /who/ voted on so far
55, 35

We'll see if it evens out with more votes. I assume that the current chart is a little out of date
>TVTropes page for Timeless Children more glowing than the page for The Doctor Falls
tvtropes.org
tvtropes.org
That site's run by rats.
>An outlier to a very well established character
>Plebs are the ones who don't like it
No. Ten is the mass appeal, least alien one. He's over-emotional and mopey and just wants a girl to fix him. He's Edward Cullen.
>Last thread died in under 200 posts edition.
there isn't much point any more.
aspies argue about which doctor they think is best.
the usual shitposters push their forced memes.
the people who are paid to mention BF mention it.
that one guy replies "lol, podcasts"
Yas Forums doesn't need who threads any more. nobody does.
>Eden thinks threatening to kill politicians is cool
He's the pleb filter in the fandom because he's different. Which is why you don't like him because you can't understand a character who has lived for 900+ years and has gone through some big trauma ever acting differently. HIs emotions are also supposed to be his big weakness.
Even then he's not the only one obsessed with his female companion. Take Clara with Capaldi, who honestly makes even less sense to be so important to Capaldi than it did with Rose.
>who honestly makes even less sense to be so important to Capaldi than it did with Rose.
please elaborate because i think it's the other way around
The Tenth Doctor didn't live for 900 years. He was around for 4, max, and he spent those years acting differently. By definition, 9 and 10 are the outliers. And I don't like how they went about it. That shit is all gone when 11 comes around, and we were all better for it.
Even though I love Doctor Who, I don't reply to these threads because all you talk about it Crapaldi and Big Finish shit
And you're too much of a pussy to try and start a new conversation. Where've you been for the suffering poll, bitch?
>going on TV tropes
you have to be over 18 to post here.
so talk about something else then
I know that 10 wasn't 900 years old. When the Doctor became 10 his was around 900 years old. All of it was gone for 11 because the Doctor learned through his time as 9 and 10 it was better to be less emotional so he wouldn't ever become something close to Timelord Victorious again.
Yeah. And that was an arc that I didn't like. Now we've all moved on.
>Where've you been for the suffering poll, bitch?
It's boring and meaningless
Then leave.
ladies and gentlemen, mission accomplished
It was a good arc, though. You just have shit taste.
Clara was the one to convince The Doctor to not destroy Gallifrey again but Rose was the one who was there when The Doctor was at rock bottom and started his healing process after the war. Personally, while convincing him was still pretty big, I think that Rose making him into someone who would take that chance again to save Gallifrey is bigger. It's purely subjective though.
he fucking sucks
get over it
My head canon is that 10 and Rose fucked constantly. It just seems so obvious.
>that guy who voted only 30% suffering for 12
kek
my headcanon is that most of Series 2 doesn't exist
moffat and capaldi had a huge crush on the clara actress so she was written to be the most important companion ever and not even rose can stack up against that. in retrospect, she seems like a weekend shag compared to clara
Same guy you replied to. I wouldn't mind if not for Girl in the Fireplace and Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. Those are all amazing, but the rest of it is just sort of ok to meh. Still, series 3 doesn't make sense without it, so I can live with it.
Exactly how I feel. Fireplace and Planet/Pit are the only truly great stories of S2—though, personally, I'd save School Reunion too. I just really don't like the Doctor-Rose romance plot. Of all the people he's ever travelled with, the Doctor falls in love with some shitty 19~ year old chav?
She was at the right place at the right time.
The companion/girlfriend metaphor and the wasted Anthony Head ruin School Reunion for me. Making Sarah Jane retroactively having a crush on the Fourth Doctor is some blasphemous shit. That scene where she tells him she could never love another man after meeting him is framed as a cute thing when it's the saddest shit I've ever heard.
The real T is that anons hate 10 not because he’s more human but because they can’t relate to a man that has had sex
They still like human relatable doctors but they prefer the humans that the Doctor resembles to be virgin spastics and bitter deluded waifu-obsessives rather than chads like 10
They also prefer Moffat because they like shallow, mystery-box-style story-telling and plot “twists” (read: holes) because it panders to their intellectual narcissism
Meme all you want - the truth is in your heads now
It made sense for 9. The whole "Nearest warm body" thing and they really did compliment each other well. Her and 10 were so forced and smug and awful together.
HOLY FUCKING BASED
so this is the true power of the RTDchad
goddamn, what insight
>Last thread died in under 200 posts
These are the last days of /who/.
It was nice to come back, but we always knew it wasn't gonna last long.
I prefer 9 and RTD, though...
9>12>10>11> > >13
Though you could be right, since i haven't had sex in 2 days. feelsbadman
Twelve was the most alien Doctor yet and his connection with Clara went much deeper than sex. Thinking that fucking is as deep as it can get is pretty fuckin beta.
Rose, River, and the Ponds are the worst elements of nuWho
I agree.
Fireplace is utterly shit and I’m absolutely astonished it’s considered an under-rated gem
Take one second and consider
The Doctor falls in love with history’s biggest prostitute despite knowing her from being a little girl
He abandons his companions to slow death and starvation on a distant space station without a backwards look
The stupidest in all of Moffat’s stupid gimmick stories - the “obtuse repeated meme clue” that makes no sense in the context of the story (are you my mummy we did not have the parts/ Donna noble has left the library, Donna noble has been saved, I am in 12) plus what has to be the biggest narrative stretch in the known universe (ah yeah right so somebody named their ship after history’s biggest prostitute right and then there was a malfunction right and then the robots decided they had to replace all the ship parts with people for some reason but also they invented time travel to get Madame de Pompadour’s brain because -)
Jesus fucking Christ
It’s so painfully obvious that none of you have been in a relationship
>It’s so painfully obvious that none of you have been in a relationship
sounds like something a Tennant lover would say
Most of the Doctors are very flawed characters though. 10 is just the one who has the most "I am sad now" scenes. It's all very telegraphed.
Yeah, it falls apart if you think about it. The Doctor goes back through the fireplace just to put Mickey and Rose in the TARDIS and then goes BACK into the fireplace to go get Reinette? Just go there in the TARDIS, you fucking moron. But no, the script says she has to be dead when he gets back, so he doesn't use the TARDIS. The human drama is fine but the sci-fi is a mess.
I don't mind the romance and sexual energy, though it works better with 9 than with 10 in some ways. I see it like he hadn't much thought of it as a possibility until The Doctor Dances and when he's able to save everyone, it awakens that energy in him and also is the first time he's not just on autopilot emotionally (as 9). That episode is why he's the Doctor and why he has a companion.
It climaxes in The Parting of the Ways, where he combines his role as The Doctor and "dancing" to save Rose, by kissing her and absorbing the energy.
Maybe he could have absorbed it without a kiss, but he didn't and the duality of why he kissed her resulted in 10 being such a lover boy.
I think there's some depth in that arc.
It's pretty easy to nitpick most Who stories and thus Dr. Who in general. Fireplace has some flaws, but is still a good story, just like Dr. Who is still a good show even if over half of the episodes are pure shit.
no
The Tardis is not reliable and once he went to say goodbye to her in the fireplace he became part of events. Also, she was expecting him in the Fireplace. Plus, if he had went through the Tardis, I'm sure it would have taken him to the exact same time, as it likes to do.
>hates 10 episode
>must be a 10 loved
Interesting logic
It’s such a stupid fucking story though, it’s all of Moffat’s weird Freudian hang-ups, fetishes and obsessions on full display
MdP is Proto-Amy/ River, the Girl Who Waited + the Time Traveler’s Wife, she’s the empowered prostitute meme that would crop up in everything he ever fucking wrote, from Adler in Sherlock to the whore space-Pope in TotD, it’s yet another woman who worships the Doctor cos he’s such a special snowflake even though he was a lonely nerd boy
Why can’t people see that the Doctor is just Moffat’s masturbatory self-insert and that the man is a frothing, deranged nerd who’s never got over being bullied by big gay chads like Russ
The fact is only people who can’t get laid (nerds) obsess over liberal free sex bullshit and empowered whores because then they think there’s a small chance that they can get some tail and not have to feel ashamed about it
Compare Madam de Pompadour/ Space Pope/ Adler with whatever her fucking face was called off Firefly and that magical space whore from Mass Effect
Are we all happy with Big Finish's choice of Sarah for Return of the Cybermen?
I disagree. I find Amy and Rory to be the best companions in the Moffat era. Other than maybe Nardole.
ok for one story or cameos but I wouldn't want it to be a permament thing.
You haven’t said why you think it’s good. What I said wasn’t nitpicking, it’s addressing the glaring flaws in the episode.
she's good if she's just staying for some lost stories, if she becomes a companion full-time and goes through all the BF circus (River Song, Time War, Boxsets), I'm burning the Big Finish myself
Must be painful not being as hot as your mum
I'd do both
>saddest shit ever
I got that feeling as well. I think they thought it was sweet but its really not.
Now that's some bullshit-tier rationalisation my friend
Maybe it's just shit.
I don't even agree that the human drama is fine. Why does he fall in love with - again - history's most famous whore? Because she read his mind? Just because Sophia Myles can act and plays everything so subdued in soulful doesn't mean there's any actual basis for attraction or interest.
actual suffering irrelevant, deserved suffering 100 for being moffat's worst creation
there is never indication that the doctor ever had sex with rose, no matter how much fanfic there is
the doctor never fucked his assistants on-screen regardless of how he felt about them
The story works. The Doctor going into the girls life at different times and trying to figure out how to save her is fun. His performance is really good in the episode and the intrigue of the Robots needing her heart is a great pull (though the reveal of why is stupid) The robots are menacing and mostly competent, the horse is a great chekhov's gun, reinette is well acted and used well as a character and a tool to explore the Doctor, which most of the best episodes do. So what failures it has for me are conquered by it being pretty entertaining and a great character study in how the Doctor appears to other people.
