it should disgust you.

Supposed to help you realize any idiot can become a rich people, so why arnt you rich? loser

>so why arnt you rich?
I'm a brainlet

The book is just Jordan Belfort masturbating on paper to try and convince the world how brilliant and edgy he is. It reads like an insecure plea for approval from the WASP culture he was never allowed to be a part of. The film should make you feel dirty.

it made me despise it's script and runtime and humor

It's a movie about a bunch of conman and yeah, Scorcese definitely shows them as assholes despite their charisma.

Despise, but planning shenanigans with your bros (like the dwarf toss) make it attractive

neither

The critique is aimed at the general public, the regular guy who just wants to get ahead and live a nice life. The only hero of the story is the FBI agent who does the right thing despite the temptations. His reward is sitting in the subway alone ignored by all the people he protects. But the average folk don't care about him. They care about Jordan Belfort. The ending scene has a throng of people who have paid a lot of money to a known and convicted fraud. They sit there desperately trying to learn some of his tricks so that they too maybe can get ahead and start fulfilling their dreams.

>FBI was the one really fulfilling his dream all along

if directors want their movies to have a message, why cant they be more clear about it?

i don't think it was any of those cases, but to show just a story of some man cheating the system and becoming rich

Attached: 206.jpg (417x489, 128.64K)

Let's be real though. We would all take the bribe. Fuck being poor. It's honestly the fucking worst. I never believed the "circumstances" bullshit. Most of my family isn't straight white trailer trash but they're bordering on it. Poor people almost always give no fucks about education, eating properly, exercising, not drinking too much etc.

the real jordan belfort looks like a fucking douche, if they got an actor that even slightly resembled him a lot more people would despise his character

it's because the system failed, user
the system failed them

The Bureau would never have you.

The main character was jewish in real life, but they didn't mention it once the film. And suddenly everything in the film makes sense.

Nah you just have the poor person syndrome where you think that being rich equals being a honorable and sophisticated person. My family is highly educated but middle class and i seriously don't see the benefits of having a lot of money. It's all hedonism in the end you will never be satisfied with hedonism. Educate yourself and achieve, but you don't need to have money for it like poor people seem to think.

>the film was produced with an express message it is deliberately attempting to make you feel

It follows the usual Scorsese formula of a guy living the highlife through crime before it all comes crashing down, turning to shit and he realizes how his life is fucked up because of it.

The film underplays how much of a piece of shit he was and the nature of the crimes he committed. It makes you think he was just using hard sell tactics to get people to buy junk shares in terrible companies with over-inflated commission. Not only was he doing that but a bunch of the 'companies' he sold shares in only existed on paper and were created by him, he'd sucker people into buying the shares, pump up the value then dump, the shares he owned.

Watch Boiler Room for more detail on what he actually did (it's basically the story of his company with names changed).

The guy is a piece of shit and should be living in poverty for the rest of his life. Instead he's a celebrity, will only pay back a fraction of what he scammed and lives a nice middle class life.

This. Wolf of Wall Street is once again about how if you're hot and charismatic, you'll be forgiven for anything. I would know, I'm hot and charismatic.

but user, leonardo dicaprio looks like a douche. sounds and acts like one too.

Why would I want you in law enforcement when you literally take money to ignore crimes?

FBI agents are on decent money.

>Educate yourself and achieve
I wish I could but I probably have some undiagnosed learning difficulty.

>I'm hot and charismatic
prove it boi

>all the people he protects
but user, the only people he was really protecting were the megarich. he didn’t get the average people’s money back to them. he didn’t redistribute belfort’s ill gotten gains to the people most harmed by his actions. all he did was enact the will of the rich and help them feel better about the stock market.

nah leo is a top lad

youtube.com/watch?v=fQnrIkg1ues

what's weird is that I totally agree with you, but had no problem with Goodfellas following the same formula. I guess it's because a stockbroker is never in fear for his life while a gangster is, so a middle-class retirement seems more like a reprieve from execution than getting off scot free.

>i seriously don't see the benefits of having a lot of money
3 million dollars sitting in a half decent savings account will generated 100k a year in interest. A half decent financial advisor could double that. A great financial advisor could quadruple that and ensure you never pay taxes.

You have poor people syndrome where you can’t even imagine not working to make someone else rich.

I would probably fail the drug test anyway.

If you know you would take a bribe then I guess it's good you're being truthful with yourself, but its definitely not an honorable existence. Think about that for other parts of hour life too. Look up the ring of Gyges story from Plato and think about what you would do. Improve yourself.

Honor is just some shit the rich came up with to get the poor to act predictably stupid and think of stupidity as a virtue.

>lad
Ah, the non-pejorative douches started using to describe themselves.

A non-reader I see. Lost cause I suppose. You were lied to. Being just doesnt mean being a huge pussy.

What the fuck bank are you using that’s going to give you 3.33% interest?

>white man cheats and lies
>OMG BASED WHAT AN ALPHA I WANT TO BE LIKE HIM

>minority cheats and lies
>FUCKING SUBHUMANS I AM SO ANGRY

A non-American one.

>the only people he was really protecting were the megarich

belfort made most of his money ripping off greedy middle class people not the megarich

>Being just doesnt just mean being a huge pussy.
Fixed that for you. The fictions you’re advocating we’re literally created to get (you) to think the world can be better, and than doing the right thing is rewarded in any real way, now or in the hereafter. When all you’re capable of doing is serving those in power, and those in power are only the people who lusted for it.

thats how he started. belfort didn’t get the attention of literally any law enforcement until he started ripping off the rich with sham IPAs.

it was meant to entertain you
whatever is the opinion you form, it's all on you

Belfort was 300+ iq, plus lack of any morals

>it takes a 300+ IQ to get people to give you their money with no strings attached

Fixed rate bonds exist

>A half decent financial advisor could double that. A great financial advisor could quadruple that and ensure you never pay taxes.

Short term, until everything collapses and you're fucked

Believe it or not, some countries aren’t run by their banks, and, thus, have banking laws that actually benefit the depositor.

>yea, so like, humanity can only, like, reverse entropy on the short term, bro, once the sun burns out they’re fucked!

The university of Richmond has existed for 190 years and their primary source of revenue isn’t tuition, or sports, but a “class” where they “teach” “students” how to manage investments by giving them control of a cool million in real money and “grading” them on how much money they can turn that into.

As a Virginia person myself, fuck UofR

>not taking the money AND arresting the degenerates

That’s illegal! Their illgotten gains belong to the state. *nods sagy*

What's the origin of this maymay?

Yeah it's all a conspiracy from 2k years ago. Even the personal notes of the emperor who never wrote for anyone else. 24d chess right? What a fag.

You’ve just called society a conspiracy. What’s the next move in your master plan?

Being a NEET doesn't make you happy, you're on Yas Forums for fucks sake. You need to do something with your life in order to feel fulfilled.

Yeah.
That's the point.

No reading comprehension. Literally not worth anyone's time. Destined to stay a poorfag.

Why? This guy is based like Trump. He's why I voted for Trump.

>man who thinks there’s a difference between “conspiracy” and “society” attempts to assert intellectual superiority

Five star post mah nigga!

>thank you mr billionaire for letting me lick the shit off your boot. Without you I would have no purpose!

oh wagie, why're you coping so

Attached: 1524262351959.jpg (409x409, 107.96K)

>you have to work to some billionaire in order to do work in your life
