They were decent, but T&EASGJ had some early youtube viral video-esque hits online (anyone remember the celery man meme that used to be big on Yas Forums?) They also basically paved the way/influenced (for better or worse) every other live action show that would ever come to adult swim

Yea it was like comedy shows from like 10-12 or 12:30, then it was anime the rest of the way. Only consistent anime rerun show I remember is Inuyasha. Think they would show other shorter series on and off, remember Ghost in the Shell series and NGE at least.
I remember they used to start at 11 a long time ago, but I totally forgot what the schedule was, if it wasn't just mostly comedy then. I think that schedule I listed was what they were mainly doing by the time I was in like Middle and High school when I watched it most though, from like mid 00's to early 10's.

No, it technically split off from CN in 2005. No longer reports to CN execs/studios or has CN people as producers on shows. And especially after the 2007 Boston bomb thing, CN has now more and more distanced themselves as seperate entities from AS.

Look at the credits on shows. Pre-2005, stuff like Harvey Birdman was done by Cartoon Network studios, Home Movies had CN executives overseeing.

Since then, it's basically all Mike Lazzo, Keith Crofford, etc.

It may still be owned by CN but it's done far more loosely. AS operates mostly under its own hierarchy these days.

Pre-2005 Adult Swim had Linda Simensky and Khaki Jones (big time CN people) directly overseeing production of Adult Swim shows. Harvey Birdman seasons 1 and 2 were done by Cartoon Network studios. After 2005's split, Turner relegated this oversight more to Lazzo and Williams Street as a separate, Adult Swim exclusive production division.

I live in Atlanta, Adult Swim's studios /William Street is separated by an interstate highway from the rest of Cartoon Network/Turner. After 2005, they either did a lot of stuff in-house at Williams Street or with Titmouse/other companies from LA.

Because it essentially operates as a distinct entity from CN. It's under the same umbrella but has literal interaction with CN higher ups in terms of producing shows... Saying it's merely a programming block is reductive. At one point this was true, when the same people that made Johnny Bravo or whatever happen also did AS shows. Now that's not the case. Basically everybody reports to Lazzo and Keith. And then Keith to some other Turner/WarnerMedia higher-up. They have much more free reign, than say "Cartoon Cartoon Fridays".
It's more like a pseudo-network that targets an entirely different audience, just shares channel space.

Whatever, though... I'm not going belabor the point any further whether X or Y terminology is more apt.
