>S&P Global said the world’s largest exhibitor AMC Entertainment risks running out of cash by mid-summer and the ratings agency doesn’t think movie theaters will reopen in June – a prediction AMC CEO Adam Aron made on CNBC this week.
>Even after significantly lowering its fixed costs and capital spending requirements – AMC Entertainment has furloughed its entire staff from the CEO on down – “We only expect the company’s liquidity sources to last through mid-summer,” S&P said. The company will likely pursue incremental financing through the CARES act – approved by lawmakers and President Trump last week – or its lenders, “but it is unclear when or if it will be able to secure additional liquidity.”
>the biggest theater company in the world about to go bankrupt >Yas Forums doesn't even care
Lucas White
Two month shutdown and they're bankrupt. They must have been a shitty company. There'll be other places to watch the latest capeshit. Hollywood isn't worth crying over in it's current state.
Brandon Hernandez
This. And its happening with a lot of companies. Seems majority of American buisness were being carried by day to day operations.
Xavier Brown
That's what they get for running a Disney Star Wars marathon.
Kayden Sullivan
Get ready to bail out Hollywood, taxpayers.
Austin Hughes
fuck em, I haven't been to a theater since 2014
Dominic Stewart
I haven't been in a movie theater since 1996 user. Movies are much more enjoyable in my living room.
Ethan Morgan
Abolish all commerce to stay healthy Trump said it! I believe it! And that settles it!
Mason Jones
Socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the poor. Yas Forums will defend this.
Joseph Scott
It’s crazy to see what industries are so fragile that a few months of quarantine completely bankrupts them >retail >theaters/hollywood/entertainment >restaurants/service >auto is about to get BTFO (again) Imagine not being a fintech, insuratech, or remote work Chad
Henry Torres
I don't think I can adjust to this new lifestyle where you rely exclusively on the Internet without tearing the skin off of my head until the bone is showing
Dominic Carter
>Two month shutdown and they're bankrupt. They must have been a shitty company.
Came here to say this.
Leo Cooper
What are the chances of me picking up a stacked laser projector from a fire sale for less than 1% of their $300k price tag?
Dylan King
Why do I care?
Adam Peterson
Dang, and my AMC theater just got some awesome seats that lean back and can heat up
John Gomez
>AMC Theaters might collapse (And that's a good thing!)
Leo Sanchez
Yas Forums doesn't defend the 2008 bailouts though.
Jonathan Anderson
Lucky, mine lean back but don’t heat up unless I fart in them. And they’re leather so everyone can hear the farts, it’s embarrassing
Ayden Martinez
NO! Please don't let AMC collapse. They're owned by China and I want them to succeed. Think of the money they'd lose if AMC went under. They must continue to survive.
after they instituted their no singles policy, most of Yas Forums wasn't allowed in AMC theaters anyway
Luke Bailey
This, how the fuck did they manage to get near the point of bankruptcy after all of the major hits that came out last year? Sounds like they need to take it up with Hollywood execs screwing them out of the movie profits.
Jeremiah Turner
This is really bad news in general. Even when this is all over people will come back to a world filled with massive poverty and no open businesses. Retards are surprised businesses can’t afford to to stay in business after a multiple months of nothing but more rent checks and expenses coming their way while making 0 income. Very bad stuff.
Kayden Ramirez
We should be celebrating this
Nicholas Cooper
w-what will happen to robert?
Carson Gomez
No “we” shouldn’t you room temperature iq subhuman.
James Perry
Fuck big theater chains dude, all they show and promote is capeshit and politicized Hollywood trash. Fuck em. Local theaters will still exist if you want to watch real cinema, capeshit can go straight to streaming for all I care.
Mason Carter
>For years people treated Hollywood, and companies like Disney, as if they were untouchable juggernauts that could never be toppled >They all start crumbling the MOMENT something legitimately bad happens
Samuel Sanders
Local theatres have better quality then those shit shows the only perk that place had were those fancy coke machines
Alexander Russell
I think there's one type of Socialism Yas Forums is very fond of.
Grayson Russell
AMC has extremely comfy seats bro
Isaiah Reed
Yet, it's Nat Soc. Expect they still don't like China even though that's the only Nat Soc country that exists right now.
Asher Gutierrez
Reminder theatres showing old movies would be extremely successful but kikes won’t release the old prints from their vaults
Evan Morales
AMC is owned by the Wanda Group, fuck China
Cameron Anderson
Imagine your giant corporation going into bankruptcy because someone half a planet away ate a bat.
Aaron Baker
Serves these fuckers right. I'm not paying $35 to see a movie when I can wait for a decent DL, pop a bag of popcorn, crack open a soda, and eat a box of candy all for
I worked at AMC for 3 from roughly mid 2017 to January of 2020. It's a fucking abysmal job and a terrible company.
Do you know that they had a promo to sell stale caramel corn and cheddar popcorn as part of a "deal" with A-List? Only instead of it being a deal, not only did you pay for A-List, but you paid an extra $20-$45 for a small tin of popcorn that was months old and sealed in a bag. On top of that, they sold it at box office, not concessions. So I had to instruct a bunch of teenagers on how to try and bullshit people or hold them hostage at the box office register to sell it. Ultimately we only sold 1 or 2 and even when it was discounted down to $20 with A-List we had mountains of them sitting in our projection booth. Fuck you
Wanda Group is the next Warner Bros, faggot. They are the best thing to ever happen to this planet. Wanda and Tencent will soon make ALL the KINO. Hollywood will literally DIE because of based Wanda.
Fuck you and fuck your Muh China rhetoric, you piece of absolute worthless shit. I genuinely hope Xi Jinping himself personally goes to your disgusting excuse for a home and rapes your ass with his BYC until you submit to Chinese superiority, like a little bitch boy.
There are NO local theaters here (NYC burbs). You think they would even be able to survive half as long as the large chains during this pandemic? All around me are small businesses of good hardworking people that will likely never open again. For reference we have large chain theaters here that are surrounded by small businesses like pizzerias and even arcades, the theatre makes sure the plaza of 20 other businesses stays populated.
China isn't Nat Soc, they don't like individuality
Evan Cooper
The entirety of Hollywood could go bankrupt today for all I care. Same with the megacorporations and especially the ones controlling the media. The leash should've gotten yanked back hard twenty years ago on all these fags before things got as insane as they did. Fuck'em with a Garden Weasel.
Jason Long
NO NO NO NOT THE KINOPLEXARINOOOS!! YOU CAN'T JUST SHUTDOWN THEATERS!!
Charles Diaz
We must bailout our movie theaters. Film is the dominate culture in the US and also my israeli friends would be super pissed if we didn't
Joshua Stewart
if you think a massive theater corporation can go under and arthouses will still survive you're retarded
Jaxon Evans
reminder that those kinds of theatres already exist and you're a retard
Jason Powell
I can’t wait. Studios can now release their movies directly to my 65” 4K where they’ll sound amazing on my 7.1 surround. Oh yeah, no niggers jive talking or huwheh-HUWHEHing through the whole movie, no retards running up and down the aisles, no children crying, no thots putting their bare fucking feet on my headrest, no homeless scumbags stinking up the place, no boomer Jew women asking their husbands to loudly explain the fucking scene they just watched because they missed it while he was loudly explaining the last scene, no sticky floors, no hypodermic needles hidden in the seats...
AMC has the best projectors, sound systems, seats, and movie pass. Fuck this is going to suck if they really go under
Gavin Harris
I live right by an AMC and watch movies there on the weekends. I literally would have no where to watch kino if they shut down.
Michael Campbell
they should have saved some money to survive a few months
Cameron Myers
Imagine being stupid enough to think your industry is safe
Charles Wood
it'd be cool if you started like a local vinyl shop type place but it's film instead and you could just show whatever films you want in a couple rooms. local shit 1-2 nights a week, current films being released small-scale, big hits every now and then for bucks. it's a nice idea. ever since my local vinyl guy opened up i've thought about the attainability of starting up a local business or something
Couldn't give a single fuck about the theatre. In fact the last time I went to the theatre it was years ago to see West Side Story, and I only allowed myself to be dragged along to that because I was trying to fuck a student and she was well into theatre.
Cameron Brooks
Why prefer that to streaming?
Alexander Bell
Cinemark is much better these days. AMC has the dystopian PSA about what to do if someone runs in and shoots up the place. Totally ready to relax and watch my kino now, thanks AMC.
Isaiah Garcia
This. However, there is a chance that the only AMC's left are the one's with attractions like IMAX and Dolby while all their other theaters will be shut to cut costs.
To be fair no company is built to withstand a multiple months long shutdown, it's a whole new area of uncharted waters for most.
Best case scenario is most of the big chains are destroyed while independents like drive ins and such make a come back, prices for tickets and such are lowered across the board as the Hollywood executives just cant throw a bone at 1 or 2 big shits running the couple of theater chains that choke out the independents anymore.
William Phillips
to profit off the viewing you would need a license from the studio. i wonder if there could be a loophole like showing the movie for free in the back room, but requiring a $10 cup of popcorn for entrance. i like your idea though user. ive thought about buying a projector and doing movie nights in my yard
Landon Gray
Nobody begged over there, rents and other expenses were frozen right away, but here socialism is seen as work of the devil
Leo Cox
Hollywood is lost. It needs to die for something new to be reborn from the ashes.
Lucas Robinson
>mfw I avoid amc like the plague and have just gone to cinamarks, regancy, and small mom and dad type theaters my whole life It's only been two months and with all the money they make from big blockbuster opening nights, makes me wonder where the money is going.
