so what was up with those early south park episodes where they made fun of phil collins? is he considered a bad singer or something?
So what was up with those early south park episodes where they made fun of phil collins...
he won some award which they were nominated for I think
Phil Collins won the Oscar for Tarzan the same year the South Park guys were nominated for the South Park movie. They were just a little bitter about it.
He was bald and mocking bald people is humorous.
Fanks
This. The award was for best song, and Robin Williams led a chorus of Blame Canada on stage. It was two decades ago, but I can still see it in my mind.
They also made fun of Rod Steward. I guess it was a way for its Gen X creators to shit on boomer musicians. Meanwhile Korn were cool.

Phil Collins is one of those people who is hated because at his peak he was everywhere. You couldn't turn on the radio or television without hearing his songs or seeing him do an interview.
su su sudio
Trey Parker is also a big closeted goth (he loves The Cure, among other similar bands) so to see a musician that he ALREADY hates upstage him on a personal level must've pissed him off severely.
>Phil Collins
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM! GREEN EGGS AND HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!
he always was a mental midget
blablabla Peter Gabriel better blabla
>The Cure means he's a closet goth
lmao kids these days
Unironically upset at his immense talent.
You'll Be in My Heart > Blame Canada
based, although phil wasn't the problem. genesis was still great until hackett left. mike rutherford was the problem.
I think at the time he was over saturating media so it was considered cool for Gen Xers to hate on him
seanbaby.com
the phil collins discography always made me chuckle. too bad seanbaby sold out like it was going out of style ages ago
Ironic
Hes a talented goy without Jewish producers. He had to be destroyed, like they attempted to do to Based Mel.
I CAN FEEL IT COOMING IN THE AIR TONIGHT
>married a Jewess
Xoomers thought it cool to hate Phil Collins and Steely Dan
Phil Collins fucking sucks
Climb up my solsbury ass, Phil
>They were just a little bitter about it.
Not uncommon for those two. 'Member when their candidate lost so they rewrote the season into one long seething ORANGE MAN BAD "joke"?

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
Oh, God, please stop talking about Peter Gabriel
It's amazing how much lenience Trey Parker gets. A lot of episodes were made from petty butthurt he feels at people, yet fans act like there's some kind of depth to it. He's plagiarized (insheepshion), been completely misinformed (Manbearpig) and overall just been a complete asshole (making fun of Steve Irwin's death just because some people unrelated to Irwin said it's tasteless). Has he ever been held accountable for any of it? Nope. Because if you criticize him or his cartoon, that means you're offended. Ironically, the defense is that you're just being exact kind of butthurt that Trey is.
What's up with the early South Park episodes that portray The Passion (I haven't seen it but I assume it's just an adaptation of the bible) as anti-semetic?
Pretty cringy de su
>tarzan
>winning an oscar
Did I miss something?
Incredible Hulk issue 1 looking ass
>The joke is that it actually is Steve Irwin at the party and not just some guy in a bad taste halloween costume
>HE MADE FUN OF HIM!
Holy fuck you losers are sensitive
It's funny how the show has gone on a full generation, yet the same characters are still supposed to represent the same generations. Even though they started as the previous ones.
What's up with it being "the torture porn" and Mel Gibson being a masochist? He made two movies about person known for being tortured so he loves torture... Huh? Why not make him a histrionic Anglohater because he made two movies depicting the English as evil then? The shit makes no sense.
yes, south park is petty, immature, and contrarian. this is why Yas Forums likes it.
trips of truth
Yeah, we're the sensitive ones. You should spend 6 days making an episode about how everyone who uses an image board is a pussy and stupid and maybe the episode ends with Cartman killing them all in a brutal way or something. Better yet, the plot is Cartman goes on image boards and Kyle thinks they're stupid. Kyle gives a big speech why they're for pussies, and then Cartman has no comeback. It's actually a really clever metaphor for how people that disagree with you are so stupid and not smart like you.
>implying late stage Genesis isn't good pop
youtube.com
Hipsters, the lot of you.
>This cartoon about two 8 year olds travelling across the country to get an 18 dollar refund from director Mel Gibson who turns out to be an insane pervert makes no sense
What are you even upset about
Underrated.
The Passion play historically was used by the Catholic church (when they used to be based) to stoke up anti-semitic fervor
lol
The joke to be funny has to have a bit of truth to it. Otherwise it just falls flat.
Being pleb-filtered by a shit South Park episode is fucking embarrassing, if you actually gave a fuck aboput Steve Irwin you'd bitch about the way earlier episode where Steve was sticking his finger up animal's areshole's to piss them off instead of a one off joke based around Halloween costumes of a certain year
at this point in his career, Phil Collins was a typical target for comedians and anyone looking to make fun of him. His music was considered terribly uncool, old and new, and that Tarzan soundtrack was loathed by music critics.
Phil Collins' public reputation didn't turn around until all those In The Air Tonight commercials and movie scenes. Then it was publicly okay to admit you like Phil Collins, but almost as a guilty pleasure. He still isn't respected by music critics. I like his music, for the record.
I like selling England by the pound
Citing the Bible can be used to stir anti-Semitic fever while we're at it.
schizo
I do not care for Phil Collins.
nice
Early Genesis never really drove me crazy as far as prog goes. For me, it's King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator, and Gentle Giant.
I just noticed they made his head a penis
Yeah but no one does that anymore, the whole whine about Passion was that it brought up the Jewish religious establishment's complicity in Jesus Christ's execution which they say isn't their fault because it happened 2000 years ago and the statute of limitations doesn't extend that long
Tomorrow Never Knows Phil Collins cover is the greatest Beatles cover of all time. Prove me wrong
haha. they are pretty funny. like just grow hair! lol
