One visionary not 2 hacks
Well, George Lucas did put his heart and soul into it, even if the results weren't spectacular. He tried.
tpm is the very definition of soulless
the feeling there connected to this grand scale across movies and not just one-offs that mention the skywalker name
Hi Mike!
please elaborate user it should be easy
Star Wars wasn't just a product to George, he genuinely tried to tell a story. Did he hit all marks? No, but that's not the point.
>youtube.com
If you think this is soulless you have no soul
Felt like effort was involved and did give us clone wars. Sequels were unplanned messes.
>Why do the Prequels have so much soul compared to Disney Star Wars?
1. Made by Lucas (the same reason that such, ironically), and because of his presence, people endeavoured to do the franchise justice (cogent example: the sword combat)
2. The were from a time where people still had imaginations -- as distinct from today's i-generation of mindless donebots
3. They paid due respect to the source material, characters and cannon
4. Even though toys et al. were a real factor in t prequels (see: Jar Jar), they weren't even in the same supercluster as Disney's merchandising of the license (again, ironically, given how poorly the ST merchandise sold)
5. GCI still had a "wow" factor back then, and the likes of video games hadn't shown up film CGI as it subsequently did (see: Old Republic trailers)
6. No "SWJ" brain cancer influencing decision-making, compromising scripts, and undermining the product/s
7. Far better casting (not even a comparison here -- the ST's have the worst casting in sci-fi history)
8. No female at the helm of the studio, cunting shit up... as it the agog female mind's wont
9. The legacy of the OT was still strong (the PT did not leave a good taste in many peoples' mouths... which was fair enough)
10. The PT is shite -- granted... BUT, can still stand next to the OT as legitimate entries into the canon. On the other hand, the ST cannot even be considered the same universe as the PT (light speed from inside a planet's atmosphere?... "Sun" devouring Death Star "laser" that's a homing missilette?... MaRey Sues who start the first mission with a god mode trainer enabled?); much less, the OT.
>the sum of their respective parts
>that such
THEY SUCK
imagine unironically legitimately caring about starshit lmao
Die.
the prequels fucking suck. say what you will about nu wars, at least theyre competent movies.
>capeshit reaction pic
lmao the whole manchild package
/thread
If that impressed you, "chad", you ain't seen nothin' yet!
Consider learning English faggot your post makes no sense
Because you were a child when the prequels came out
All those points are bullshit but the merchandising one especially. Episode 1 was and always will be the most merchandised and marketed film in history. Companies were bankrupted by the amount of Star Wars tie ins they were expected to produce.
Look at all this soul:
youtube.com
Has to be the best introduction of a bad motherfucker in starwars.
Oh, the irony.
Remember when you would bash the prequels and hate on George Lucas to the point where he felt compelled to sell his franchise to Disney?
>NOT STAR WARS CANNON
Well, of course not. What is Star Wars cannon? The Death Star's laser?
Does anyone find the first appearance of Darth Maul boring and unimaginitive?
I mean the Sith are believed to be extinct for a thousand fucking years and George decides that the first appearance of a Sith against a Jedi is on some buttfuck empty desert on a speeder jumping around.
I think the majority of the audience doesn't even think that was a big deal because it wasn't presented that way, it was like Qui Gon encounters a hooded red devil with a red lightsaber every other week.
Imagine having a clean script with a world with countless possibilities, would you introduce Maul the same way
Yeah, I'm sure you could have done it better, right Mike?
>THE DISNEY SEQUEL TRILOGY IS NOT STAR WARS CANNON
It's forever officially canon and you can't do anything about it.
Even if all three flicks were nothing but Boyega shoving dragon dildos up his ass it would still be officially undeniably canon.
>Boyega shoving dragon dildos up his ass
That's far too creative and daring for a JJ Abrams film. There were no dildos in the OT, so there will never be dildos in Abram's Star Wars.
Canon is wathever George says, if it's not in his movies it's not canon
>Canon is wathever George says
Great, because he liked The Last Jedi.
because the prequels are the best trilogy
>Canon is wathever George says
So he did go too far in a few places?

Yes, too kino for retards to understand it, the jews got so pissed that they could never compete that decided to crash his franchise with no survivors.

The Star Wars creator recently screened the highly anticipated upcoming installment and thought it was "beautifully made," Connie Wethington, a rep for Lucas, told Heat Vision.
"And in speaking with director Rian Johnson after viewing was complimentary," she added.
Based Rian Johnson. He came this close to replicate the prequel kino,
Cos you saw them when you were younger. That's the whole reason, like it or not.
about that
Are you really this fucking retarded or is Disney still trying to salvage their shit movies by paying shills?
That's a nice way of saying that the movie had good special effects but it was dogshit. He also said that the fans would like TFA, which is a nice way of saying that the movie was horrendous but the retards that shat on the prequels would clap at the lack of originality and the constant dumbass nostalhia bait for the OT. Lucas hates the sequels from the depths of his soul, and that's why he couldn't even bring himself to go to the Ep IX screening.
lucas could had easily added scenes to flesh out darth maul and make him a more interesting villain. but he didnt because the jedi vs sith plot is just background noise compared to the naboo's battle against the trade federation. it's all about the scale of things and lucas knew how to do proper world building.
Music does not make a movie, although it can certainly come close.
Welcome to Yas Forums, redditor. I know where you get your arguments from:
>reddit.com
Yeah, keep arguing like that, because that must certainly be what he thought about when he literally complimented Johnson to his face. It can't possibly be that he actually liked it and spoke straightforward, can it?
>That's a nice way of saying that the movie had good special effects but it was dogshit.
No, it isn't. Learn to cope with the fact that the guy you love so much loves the film you hate.
Because George, despite being an utterly misguided tool did at least put effort into the prequels. He thought, wrongly, that they were gonna be great and treated them as such.
Disney sees nothing more than a product. George is greedy as hell too and you better believe most of his decisions were to benefit merch sales primarily, but at least behind that he did have passion. Disney is just pure sales.
Answer this you piece of shit
Swing and a miss, I'm afraid.
Imagine being so assblasted that you flat out admit being a redditor in an attempt to try derailing a point. Guess that explains where the spacing comes from.
I already did, you retarded piece of shit.
No I remember it being kino
>that you flat out admit being a redditor
Says the one who uses reddit arguments. Sorry, brainlet, but a "no u" won't cut it.
(Reddit spacing isn't a thing, by the way. It's called "paragraphs" by normal people.)
normal people are retarded though
user, you had a reddit link ready to go because two people on the planet reached a similar conclusion.
Just stop and save yourself this embarrassment. You won't even lose any karma from this exchange!
>Loves the film

>you had a reddit link ready to go
No, I actually had to dig it up by seraching for your decades old quote that you completely ripped out of context. It's funny how desperate you and your redditor friends are to pretend that Lucas doesn't like a film that you don't like. Are you really this insecure?
They don’t. Liking the prequels is a coping mechanism because you can’t accept the fact that Luke Skyealker isn’t as Herculean as you though
See:
When George Lucas dislikes a film, he speaks his mind. He doesn't go out of his way to compliment it. Deal with it.

Funny, I can do the same thing
And oh look, the oldest one is older than the post you linked.
Funny that
>Gets asked a citation for his claims.
>Cites something that doesn't remotely has to do with what he claims.
OK retard, learn reading comprehension next time.
its the lightsabre battles, they were just way better
Oh, are we now on a crusade to search for the oldest instance of that meme?
The shocking thing about it is that they appeared on both sites pretty much about the same time, namely in late September 2019. Reddit doesn't show the exact dates though, so I can only speculate where it originated.
>soul
>shit wars
Does Yas Forums really...?
>Cites something that doesn't remotely has to do with what he claims.
Other than George Lucas directly stating an opinion on the very thing we're talking about. Getting desperate, aren't you?
No, you started that by derailing the point, and since you're an obvious redditor you immediately assumed it was from there rather than doing your homework.
>you started that by derailing the point,
Derailing? I answered your shitty "point", retard. All you then did was post "no u".
>you immediately assumed it was from there rather than doing your homework.
For all we know, it was. Tell me, when exactly was the reddit post I linked made? Can you read the exact date?
>we have a sith who's really all about killing and hate
>first encounter with jedi is immediately him just straight up flying up to fuck up their shit
I dunno man, seems like Darth Maul was acted the way he was written
The only difference is that the prequels are funny. They're still sterile and soulless but good for memes and riffing I guess.
