It's very close. But the best movie ever made is 2001: A Space Odyssey

tolkien is for 14 year olds
beyond that age, you shouldnt enjoy this

it's on the list

>>reddit

looks like you've still got a few more years to go

seething manchild

I unironically cried when boromir dies
And when aragorn says his friends bow to no one

You know what is truly reddit? Categorizing films into a reddit/Yas Forums dichotomy. Besides, I think you'll find endless praise for the entire lotr compendium on countless forums, including reddit

It is in the running, yes.

But that's not The Two Towers EE

Maybe.

did they really put legolas in the hobbit?

Reminder that Return of the King won best picture Oscar.

this
i don't like most of kubrick's other stuff, i hated spartacus and thought it was boring as fuck, but 2001 is unironically a masterpiece

Only two? thats sad

The Two Towers is better, jut like the book

I think it's one of the best, absolutely. Whole trilogy is great, Return of the King is the best of the 3.

>tolkien is for 14 year olds
And? Classics are books that can prerennially be enjoyed by people of all ages, regardless of their target age group. Arnold Lobel books are for 4 year olds but I can enjoy them immensely as an adult. The Secret Garden, The Wind In The Willows, His Dark Materials, Beatrix Potter, Calvin and Hobbes, are all for children, but are also appreciated by the discerning adult. Everyone always forgets that children's books are usually written by adults, usually ones smarter, more lucid and more educated than they are.

I always got the feeling that the rest of the cast thought Sean Astin was a retard. Is it just me? Because I was just watching all the making of footage last night and I definitely got that vibe.

That would be Dune 1983

yes.
Return of the King and The Two Towers are the second and third best movies ever made.
Trainspotting is 4th

you're the biggest faggot i've ever seen

seething manchild

What do you read?

Harry Potter is unironically better

I’m so tired of seeing so many absolute faggots on here. This is a great film.
Inb4 “reddit”
Most of you were barely even 5 years old when this came out.

>elves at helm's deep
He sounded like a weirdo in a radio interview I heard a few years back. Definitely retarded too.

Guenonfag please leave

Sound yourself with your wand, faggot.

Why did orlNdo get paid millions to be in the hobbit when he hadn't had anyhting else going on for years. and thus wouldn't have had much leverage whatsoever?

Nostalgia

>*blocks your path*

Not so fast Tolkienfags. Kurtkino is back on the menu

>genre flick
>"the best"
lmao

Seeing this in theaters at age 12 is one of my greatest childhood memories.

>elves at helm's deep
At least we got this kino scene. If you're gonna butcher the lore, at least make it cinematically worthwhile. That's a lot more than i can say for modern blockbusters.

Jesus Christ no. A lot of people on Yas Forums have a strong sentimental attachment to it but that's not the same thing.

no, this is

Overrated, her best musical is Meet Me in St Louis

"best" is subjective but I would argue that from a technical and fundamental standpoint yes it is one of the best in that regard.

Only redditors and /lit/fags praise this movie to high heavens. It's good but not a masterpiece trilogy. Pls stop polluting the board with your spam.

gay

I still don't quite get how Jackson could have approached the LOTR movies so appropriately and brilliantly and then went on to direct the Hobbit trilogy.

>Only redditors
How'd you know, redditor?

Fuck off snob

>from a technical and fundamental standpoint

the special effects already looked cheesy and dated 10 years ago

>no clear cut bad guy
>"best western ever!"
nope.

>Reddit bad
Back to Yas Forums

been quite some time since i watched it and while theyare all kind of shitbags isn't Angel Eyes is the clear bad guy?

>no prep time
>forced to stretch one small book into three longass movies (as opposed to the LoTR adaptation being the exact opposite)
>over reliance on CGI that has already aged like milk
>very, very limited time schedule
Not much else to it, really. I don't blame Jackson much at all honestly.

okay zoomer

>jewish father
You do know jewishism is matrilineair?

Rabbis cant prevent filthy ashkenazi dna from passing from father to son

I wish they could

Frodo and Legolas and Bard's son Bain are relentlessly handsome.

Love Finds Andy Hardy is also better than Wizard of Oz

I can think of several other factors:

>Del Toro initially being involved, including having influence in some of the tasteless designs
>Warner Brothers being involved this time
>the studio feeling so many dwaves isn't sexy enough, so they need to make some of them 'hunky' and the rest all walking memes
>Jackson not having his heart in it as much, so he doesn't approach it with the caution or reverence of last time, falling back to his schlocky trash tendencies

it must have crushed that poor man's soul to be responsible (in name) for that trainwreck

Its best movie, not who is your favorite faggot meme

You and Prince Imrahil and Dior Eluchil are relentlessly handsome, user.

Whats his problem?

>he thinks taste can be objective
lmao look at this fucking faggot. If anything Wizard of Oz's popularity is just more reason to be skeptical of it because people are retards

It might have had that effect on him if he weren't such a greedy cynic.

it was meanwhile del toro gets to keep pulling out and everyone praises him for his work from 15 years ago

>Wizard of Oz's popularity is just more reason to be skeptical of it because people are retards

wtf I hate lotr now

Yes.

celestial trips

movie is so popular it transcends race and nationalites they try and turn it into a gay symbol they also remake all black like 3 times

Based as fuck

but it flopped in movie theaters
so which is it?
Its initial unpopularity would meab that it is great by your logic

Wizard of Oz didnt become mainstream popular until 1956, seventeen years after it was released.
