It's sort of like the body of MDE's humor without the actual craft or inventiveness; the "soul" I suppose. They did have old vids where they screwed with people on the streets, but it a little more inventive. MDE Whypz and Williamsburg had them masquerading as an MTV "on-the-street" crew or some shit. They made it look legit by having a dude with a professional camera and handheld microphone following them around. In the Whypz vid the cameraman had a duffle bag "full" of like $300,000 and they claimed they'd buy the best car there if someone was willing to part with it. In the Williamsburg vids they'd ask questions pertaining to fashion or trendy social lifestyles.
Even in "An Inconvenient Anime", Sam slowly worked the crowd before saying the hardcore shit. He had his buddy filming it and blocking the doorway, but not in a way that was overtly obnoxious. He had their score guy (can't remember his name, he usud to do a lot of the music for MDE) carrying an unnecessary boom mic for the whole fucking thing to make it look like this was something important, something that NEEDED a sound guy because it was so good, even though everything was being broadcast on a handheld mic.
Very low effort stand-in for content, overall.
