Tales from the Loop

What do you think? On a scale of 1-10.

I just don't like the silly face.

I’m talking about the series that just dropped on Amazon.

I saw Ti West directed an episode, was it good?

It’s strange. High quality but I’m not sure what it’s getting at yet. I like it.

Oh fuck you're right.

I just look it up and seems pretty kino, gonna watch it tomorrow or something.

Cool sci fi concepts but super slow and focused on early life choices

Still going through the episodes.

E01 was pretty solid.

E02 and E03 was pretty meh since it's teen angst + tech. Solid premise though.

Shed a tear for E04 but I'm a sucker for grandparents.

>5
It was just boring mostly. Pity

Unwatchable.
1/10
Horrible robot designs.

I was expecting more quirky... So far it's just really really really slow...

So I watched the entire thing. I have always liked his paintings and I did feel some of the vibes from those paintings during moments in the story but not throughout. It just feels like they took a bunch of different conceptual ideas and shotgunned them without any meaningful follow through. They tried to combine all these long scenes repeating the same sequence over with pretentious dialogue. But at the same time they tried to shove too many scifi concepts in there at the same time. So its a bunch of stuff that they spend too long on so everything feels unfinished.
Setting it in America was dumb, the nignog episode was dumb and felt forced. They should have just focused on the central family. And having a more focused story that actually went in depth.

The reveal at the end that the teacher was a robot felt so out of place.

Just to add on, I liked the show but it just felt like Eureka trying to be deep without any of the wit and charm that Eureka had in the first few seasons.

Slow family/slice of life type of show with a mysterious scifi backdrop. Weirdly reminds me of some of the more obscure slice of life anime.

I think its probably a 5 for most of Yas Forums.

If you frequent /wg/ or sperg for gondola than it's a solid 8 due to the book its based off of.

Some really strange decisions throughout the show. Ep 6 was entirely out of place.

It's a 5. More focused on drama than fiction.

Only watched two episode so far and they were both pretty good. first was total kino, second was slow but solid. I must be too used to netflix tier shit because I would have almost put money on them doing a gay plot in that second episode.

I remember a friend of mine showed me the RPG they made based on the book. I was pretty impressed by the art and setting. Particle accelerator fiction is pretty neat. I ended up getting Electric State, but haven't read it yet.

Just saw the first ep. It dawned on me who the girl was just as she and the boy went to the door after he talked with his mother. It really had some emotional gravity, not just a silly twist. The whole idea of meeting your younger self and trying to tell them not to give up hope while also saying how rough the world is. Pretty well done.

Episode 6 is the gay plot.

>Horrible robot designs.
Dropped

Also it's weird to me that nobody is posting screenshots and is instead doing the original artwork.

3. Getting tired of the 80s nostalgia crap

Was the girl actually from the 60s and she got transported to the 80s? why wasn't she surprised by any of the tech she was seeing in that case? was it just the shock of the situation and her singular mission of finding her mother made her kind of block all that out?

8-10 so far. I'm about half way through.

I'm 4 episodes in and I'd rate it a 5

I've seen worse, and there are some decent ideas here but usually they are just used to set up human drama and the humans are boring. The episodes might actually be pretty good if they were about half as long

Sounds gay. Watch Dark instead.

Looks interesting but I have a few questions:

1. how many niggers are in it?
2. how many homosexuals are in it?
3. how many interracial couples does it have?
4. from the scale of 1-10, how pozzed is it?

There's a whole episode on a forever-alone black guy falling into a parallel world where he finds his alternate self happy and with a husband.

I interpreted this as saying technology in this setting hasn't changed over the decades.

and people are rating this faggot shit high?

how can a self respecting white male even watch something like this and then speak highly of it on Yas Forums?

what the fuck went wrong???

E02 pays off on the season finale, as well as E01, E04 and E07. The others are fillerish

Actually, if the season was to be made only of E01, 02, 04, 07 and 08 and with half the length per episode it would've been a solid 9/10.

If anyone is sill going to watch, watch only those episodes.

>how can a self respecting white male even watch something like this and then speak highly of it on Yas Forums?

because, like he said, it's a gay black man

white guys don't care what black guys fuck, as long as it isn't a white woman. no joke.

>le mass reply man
kill yourself

and he tries to cuck his alternate self.

They should have made an episode about grandma.

Tyler Barnhardt and Duncan Joiner are relentlessly handsome.

Maybe Season 2. Grandma ep and also about the main kid when he becomes a grandpa (the shots of his life on EP04. We only got to see him on his middle ages)
Also about the dad going back again to visit the island. I doubt he didn't go back after giving his arm.

Holy shit, in the end the main kid married his nephew.

This show is absolute fucking trash, annihilation tier

why are there suddenly so many threads for this unknown faggoty garbage on here?

It's new and somewhat interesting. It's the same case with Devs.

the chink blackedposters are also mutts though

>It's new and somewhat interesting
No it isn't. It's just another generic "what if?" show that doesn't actually ask any interesting questions or tell any interesting stories or do anything in any interesting way.

That could still be salvageable if it had a good cast, but it's just episodic crap.
I'd rather watch another series like The Lost Room or The Booth at the End or something. Just having a guy sitting at a table listening to strange stories was more entertaining than this. Well, for a few episodes anyway.

>The Lost Room or The Booth at the End
I don't think either of those just dropped on a popular streaming service, or are even available for streaming at all
One's British
>why don't people talk about my boomer shows
lol

name one decent Amazon tv series?

The first season of Patriot was good, I liked Sneaky Pete for what it is and Too Old to Die Young is good if you like Refn and have patience for his meandering

>the nignog episode was dumb and felt forced.
I'm shocked.

Red Oaks.

I assume if I start watching this, I'll find that I've been baited to watch american liberal pseudointellectual garbage disguised by a facade of le comfy swedish robot paintings

The Boys, The Expanse, up to you if you want to count the latter, since they bought it after the fact.

Two first seasons of Man in the High Castle, Carnival Row, Patriot, The Expanse, The Tick.
The Boys is overrated, its just average, and later seasons will be possibly be shit, but it deserves an honorable mention.

>how can a self respecting white male
who do you think browses Yas Forums?

The Expanse (formerly syfy), Zero Zero Zero (only saw the first 3 episodes, but I really like it so far), The Boys (good for now, but future seasons will determine if the show is worthwhile or not)
