This LA comedy scene...It's beautiful

>This LA comedy scene...It's beautiful
>I feel sorry for anyone who's not a comedian
>It's such a loving atmosphere
>People who actually work for a living....wow they're so sad
>The Store has so much of a history

comedians are a bunch of back stabbing cunts

Is he wrong tho? Who wouldn't want to actively participate in the LA comedy scene? A hack, exactly.

I'm from there, many (famous) people who are very talented avoid going to "The Store" because it's a bunch of Joe Rogan suck-ups

>we love each other
>we hug
>we laugh together
>we bust each other's balls
>we suck each other's balls

Living in LA, comedians are some of the most miserable, self-important people I've met

How can Joe Rogan call himself a comedian when he is so unfunny?

This midget isn’t even a comedian.

Lol. The alt comedy scene has completely floundered in the back half of the past decade. Rogan isn’t anything special act wise but club comedy usurping the hacky alt comedy “reference I know!” humor is a good thing

>said the mediocre comedian

And go where? UCB? Rogan’s comedy blows but The Comedy Store is a Mecca for a reason

Comedians move to Los Angeles and come up with hilarious takes on the city like:
>you have to drive to get around
>Los Feliz is weird
>Westwood is full of rich people

Also
>everyone is so obsessed with organic food, kale smoothies, and boba

UM HAY ELON MUSK Y U SO SMART

Uhh... so anyway-

YEAH BUT Y YOU GOT SO MANY IDEAS WHATS THATS LIKE

kek

Joe Rogan runs the LA comedy scene
If you don't suck his dick (literally) and show up on his podcast, you will basically never be a comedian. They will blacklist your ass

Joe Rogan is basically a mob boss.

Nobody on this planet jerks themselves off more than comedians.

I don't understand how Rogan has so much pull when he sucks at standup.

Everybody knows people from the west coast aren't funny. The best comedians all come from the Northeast, and it isn't even close.

Rogan and his gang of flunkees aren't funny at all.

NY scene > LA scene

Based upon years of listening to podcasts

short guys have the biggest egos.

Elon finally answered near the end in that he can't switch off.
I don't really know much about Joe so I don't hate him because of board culture

Joe Rogan is an objectively accomplished martial artist, tv show host, martial arts commentator, and podcaster. All of these are impressive. But he insists on branding himself as a comedian first and foremost when he is painfully unfunny in standup. I don't understand it in the slightest.

Rogan has video evidence of himself as a teenager kicking another teenage so hard in the chest that the other guy immediately curled up into a ball. He has had multiple presidential candidates on his podcast. He's been the broadcaster for some of the best fights in MMA history. But he keeps calling himself a standup guy first. It's fucking weird.

honestly it makes him more charming to me. That he puts all his effort and sense of self into comedy and is terrible at it, despite being very multi-talented in other fields.

he has one of the biggest platforms for advertising

why is Los Feliz weird?

I would find it more endearing if he wasn't using his fame to elevate shitty comedians to prominence. Schaub should not have a special, Schaub should probably not have adult scissors or picture books rated for 10 years old+. But he has a comedy career because of Rogan. Same goes for Segura, Kreischer, and Shaffir (Callen and Theo are actually funny so they get a pass).

lol just do what you love and stop working lol

>dude I worked construction for 8 months before getting a lucky break in showbiz from my SF-connected stepdad
>like I don't understand these 9 to 5 workers, just start a podcast and do carpentry bro
>why do you sit in an office all day, you should be running hills and taking steroids
>yeah I cough all day and my gut looks like a water balloon, that's because of my favorite coffee and not the TRT and weed

I don't understand how anyone could ever set shop in LA as a comedian when New York is so much better.

NY doesn't have the SJW status LA has and it has as much many jews overlords. Plus it actually has a winter which is good for character building.
I mean you can always fly to the south west but why would you ever live there.

Rogan is from Jersey, but what you said still holds true. Non-West Coast comedians who move there were either unfunny to begin with, or got sanitized into shadows of themselves.
Ikr. It makes Brendan Schaubs attempt to ape Joe's life story that more funny. While Schaub is far worse at both fighting and comedy than Rogan, it's not like Joe excelled at them either. His fame and success is entirely due to other shit:
>Fear Factor
>Calling out Carlos Mencia
>The Opie and Anthony Show
>his podcast (self-admittedly copied from Anthony)

To be fair, you need a very high IQ to appreciate the comedic prowess of Rogan.

Stop making shit up. You sound like a regular at Flappers (a shit comedy club in Burbank for those who are unfamiliar).

>While Schaub is far worse at both fighting and comedy than Rogan
Let's be fair to Schaub, he was a legitimate heavyweight in UFC and won some real fights. Rogan was just an amateur TKD champion before he moved on to something else. Schaub is a painfully unfunny moron, but I think he is a better fighter than Rogan at the very least.
>Calling out Carlos Mencia
That was pretty big. It's kind of funny in hindsight, when the story about Mencia stealing jokes broke Rogan was so irrelevant the story was just "Mencia caught joke stealing" and nothing more, South Park did a whole episode on it.

That's where O&A come in. They invited Rogan in to give his side of the story and generally sided with him. A lot of their listeners gained respect for Joe and it wouldn't surprise me if they formed the first nucleus of his podcast audience.

Joe Rogan is peak comedy.

Kreischer has some funny jokes, I agree about Shaffir though, he's really not funny. Segura is just okay.

Mark Normand and Sam Morril are the best younger comics.

His show is the equivalent what The Tonight Show was to comics in the 80s. Rogan having you on can make you career boom. Comics have said they start selling out shows after Rogan has then on

>Based upon years of listening to podcasts
Opinion invalidated. Unless you've been to both cities and watched comedians there, your opinion doesn't mean a damn thing.

J A I M I E

Key to his interviewing (which is a decent strategy in my opinion):
Vaguely ignore his guests, I can't even count the times his guest made a halfway decent point or joke and he just railroaded past them. It puts them on alert and makes them react to him more closely. It's like that fucking pick up artist Mystery stuff from several years ago.
Honestly it makes for some interesting interviews

That's because he's high

He isn't aware that nobody would know him without his MMA commentary. He would be a random jujitsu instructor.

Rogan admits he’s dumb and any of us having unscripted discussion 12 hours a week would say retarded shit

shane smith is a faggot and he looks like a retarded zoomer but he has some decent bits. Zoltan Kaszas dry bar set is pretty decent.

>Rogan admits he’s dumb
in dishonest, cynical ways so he can sidestep the implications of all the insane shit he says/thinks
burr does the same, simply another version of "i'm just a comedian!"

I know him because Fear Factor

His genuine curiosity and empathy are what makes him good at interviewing.
I haven't seen this "railroading" you describe very many times, it seems just him being drunk/high.

There was that one podcast episode where they actually started jerking each other off over being with the "in" crowd at some gay ass comedy club in Calistan or whatever. My god that was gay.

Remember when comedy wasn't all cuddly and friendly, and comedians constantly shat on each other and called each other hacks? I want that back.

wtf do they do that over there??

he really is the jock dane cook

I guess we're seeing different things. In his most recent Andrew Santino interview they were discussing Joe Biden and honestly Santino made a lot of funny comments that Joe didn't react to at all and just suddenly started a new question or thought. I suppose it could have been that he was just high and in his own head, it can be a strange thing to watch though.

it really does though bro
all the gentrification kids are ruining the scene as well as the city

>confusing miserable with funny
You are a fucking idiot.

you're not on twitter faggot

I always feel like Mencia got a raw deal. Hackneyed premises and cliches don't constitute thievery. Mencia was a mediocre hack in a sea of mediocre hacks, and I still don't why they singled him of all people out. He had a hit show and George Lopez had a lot of pull around CC, but Lopez's bits only seemed original to Americans because he was the first big Hispanic comedian. But he was a mediocre hack reusing age old premises. Mencia used some topical humor common to hispanics, and Lopez freaked out an punched him.

Rogan claim's were pretty weak too. One of is major points was that he stole a bit from Ari Shaffir about how if The US puts up a border wall, then it will be built by Mexicans, but the premise is so obvious even my dad came up with that joke. People were going out of their way to stretch anything he said into evidence of thievery. My favorite was a random radio show in Florida claimed that Mencia stole their bit for a “Race Off” (different races competing in various stereotypes). But bits like this have been around for decades. Mencia was never original, but he wasn't anymore of a thief than 90% of comedians. And don't get me started about how many famous comedians use a team a writers, and don't actually write anything themselves.

He did Fear Factor after he started commenting at the UFC. He had random jobs before that.

Glad I'm not the only one confused by this

tough crowd is that way

That definitely sounds like him just being high.
