I'm an actual player, it's a fun and somewhat unique universe with a lot going on and a huge player/fan base (which is both good and bad) and most importantly it's the one game you can always be 100% sure will be at any tabletop store you go to, which is nice for games.

the online presence is kinda shitty though, outside of /tg/ it's mostly shitposters that maybe at most played one of the video games for all of five minutes, which makes it pretty cringy. case in point, every 40k movie thread on this board.

I recall thinking it was a lot more cringe 10-15 years ago than it is now. I suspect it's because mainstream entertainment has also become a lot more cringe by comparison, so 40k doesn't seem as bad by comparison.

It's up to interpretation and warhammer has been pretty good about letting the world speak for itself without hammering moral lessons into its consumers. Much of the radical authoritarianism and religious "nonsense" seems crazy to us, but you ought to keep in mind: The dangers ARE real in 40k. Cultists DO lurk in the underbelly of every backwater world, demons DO seek out the dissatisfied and weak of spirit, and only a few systems away there is a potentially universe consuming alien race attempting to plunder it way to Terra.

The lore is getting worst and the company is losing money so they are trying to push into Japan and get that stable Japanese consumer base. Problem is that Japan has a lot of native competition and no real waifus from 40K

The Imperium is made of highly specialized planets (city, factory, agriculture, etc) so a functional trade network is essential, which wouldn't be possible if you lost a huge proportion of your crew on routine warp jumps (let alone Navy ships trying to fight a war and deliver soldiers somewhere). While Warp travel *can* go horribly wrong, it must be reliable in the whole or the Imperium would not have survived for 10,000 years.
