Was he based or cringe?

Cringe, perfect example of what gay boomer philosophy does to people who take it seriously. He sought authenticity by escaping civilization and living a simple life while trying to learn from nature. All it did was ruin the life of a promising student. He would have done better as a doctor with a family of 6. At least then he would have made a positive contribution to civilization and we wouldn't have to read Krakauer's gay book in middle school.

The movie is cringe and unwatchable if you have the faintest idea of how being outdoors works. I think within the first 10 minutes of the movie he goes crossing some random river in northern USA winter, without any proper gear to get himself warm and dry afterwards.

Both

used to think based but got older and it became cringe

did you see the revenant?
