Elm Street is my fave but they're all great

Watch in this order:

Friday The 13th
A Nightmare On Elm Street
The Shining
It
The Exorcist

That's not my ranking btw that's just the best order in which to get the most out of each.

the shining because jack is a recovering alcoholic

But if you're only going to watch one make it ANOES.

I heard Friday the 13th isn’t all that scary by today’s standards and that The Thing did “fear of the unknown” better than Friday the 13th did in every conceivable way

Also that it’s an 18 only because of all the sweet 80s titties it shows

The Shining>>>The Exorcist>>>rest

Cringe. Don’t wanna watch that movie now. Probably shit anyway like 2001 a space mario Odyssey

Assuming thats only the first friday and first nightmare, watch them in order of release.
The Exorcist
Friday
The Shining
Nightmare
It (it's okay for a primetime miniseries of its age but its really not that great especially the second half)

Fags hate on F13 because it isn't "original" enough for their pretentious asses, but trust me, it's plenty tense/scary if you're in the right mindset. Characters are realistic and it's filmed in a docudrama style which makes it feel like you're watching something that is really happening, which os something you won't find in Carpenter's work.

Ignore plebs and their views on the original Friday The 13th. It's a classic. Easily the best and creepiest of the series, with an iconic soundtrack and awesome kills.

Based original Friday Chad

What these anons said. But also you really dont get the whole experience just watching the first one. Marathoning 1-4 while drunk/high is some of the most fun you can have, and if you like them you'll get a kick out of 5-8 too

Yikes

Too many movies. All cash grabs passed 3 I bet

Based

probably makes sense to watch them all since you own them now

Nope 4 and 6 are almost always considered the best, besides the original

But I don’t want to experience them all at once. I’m on lockdown and want to drag out new stuff as long as possible. I watched The Thing for the first time in December and I haven’t watched a movie since then

Yeah by plebs, 6 is garbage

Nightmare or Shining. It if you really want to kill a few hours, it's long as shit

Idk for me its up there with Reanimator, TCM 2, and Evil Dead 2 as far as horror comedies go

Nah the kills are pretty good too, the Kevin bacon one is a highlight

For IT i’ll Probably watch the first half one night and the second half another

4 is based and the real best one though

I really don't get it, I don't find it funny, scary or interesting. Having kids at the camp ruins the atmosphere of isolation the other films have, and the main character is obnoxious always screaming "JASON IS BACK! JASON! RUNNNNN IT'S JASON!"

If I want a F13 parody I'll just watch The Final Girls instead, it's actually funny and has lovable characters

The ending is fucking retarded though, Jason might be kinda stupid but being fooled by Corey Feldman shaving his head? So fucking dumb, surely they could have come up with something more clever than that

Try The Burning or Sleepaway Camp

I have, and I love Sleepaway Camp. Madman is also worth a watch imo

The ending of the original is pretty cheesy as well to be fair. 4 is the best because it has the best teenagers, decent but not ridiculous kills, and is well paced and shot throughout. It has a good balance of camp and real horror.

>the chick with the titties from Harold and Kumar
>Adam Demamp
>that swinger guy
>arrested development girl
>nina dobrev
>praise from based Raimi
looks kino

1 has better characters and is much creepier, the ending is kinda corny but nowhere near 4's. 3 has the best Jason and the best kills. Honestly 4 never made much of an impression on me beyond Crispin Glover

>Where's the CORKSCREW?

People who don’t torrent stuff are so cute

I like physical copies of most stuff when it’s cheap and old. I pirate new movies

A lot of sequels usually means at least a couple of them are decent. If the first few sequels are absolute garbage they rarely make more unless it’s a kids movie franchise or something.

Don't be a pleb, 2 is best

Just Before Dawn has some good atmosphere

>buying movies
what a dumb bitch drunk you are, yikes and cringed pilled

I didnt say they were my favorites, but in almost every forum or irl discussion about these movies people will almost always pick 4 or 6. For me personally it's 2 and 5.

Crispin Glover and that other guy have great banter, and I might be misremembering but isn’t 4 the one with those greaser dudes trying to fix their car or is that 5? In the original I can’t even remember any of the characters they are all so bland.

1 > 3 > 2 > the rest

Yes people who like movies often buy movies too. Bravo sherlock

In quality its:
The Exorcist=The Shining>>>It>A Nightmare on Elm Street>Friday the 13th
But if you want you can mix and match for a better viewing experience. The Shining is a great movie but it'll look even better if you watch it after Friday the 13th.

That's because in 1 they write them realistically and they aren't over the top caricatures like in the sequels. Personally I thought they were great and I actually wanted them to live, none of the sequels made me give a shit whether anyone lived or died besides Shelly and the spic girl in 3.

The original Friday the 13th is honestly pretty weak but it set up a formula that's fun and led to some enjoyable movies later in the franchise. A bunch of irritating kids getting killed in gruesome ways is a straightforward plot, and it's easy to see why it would prove so popular.

The it miniseries is long, and if youre drunk enough by the time you watch the second half you might enjoy it.

Fair I guess I watch them fully expecting all these people to die, I want them to be entertaining not endearing. The first two are semi realistic so it’s kind of comparing apples and oranges.

Actually the real cash grabs are 2-5, they are basically just the first movie remade with new teens. Starting from 6 onward the series begins to get really wacky and take chances, and it does some really enjoyable and experimental things.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

Jason got fooled by some bitch wearing his mother's sweater, the dude's a retard.

Cmon Franklin, it's gonna be a fun trip

Yeah but even being that dumb, being fooled by a kid pretending to be you? Even Jason should be intelligent enough to realise that he is himself and no one else

facial blindness IS a sign of autism..

I prefer the remake

Somehow getting resurrected made jason intelligent and sassy

Jason is sub-brick intelligence before 6

I think it was just that Corey reminded him of himself when he was younger, which made him hesitate out of confusion or pity

Oh. I see. Well. Been a big ol waste of time giving opinions and what not to a retard.

Sorry but the original TCM is overrated garbage, not even in the top 50 seventies horror flicks

I always watch the first half if IT and then i turn it off. I actually really like the kids part of the miniseries. To bad the kid that was playing Bill commited soduko.

Much of the gore was sadly cut out for some stupid reason.

That still of Freddy is from Nightmare 2 just so everyone knows.
To answer your question The Shining would probably be the one to watch while drinking but you already said you’re not watching it now so whatever. IT and NOES 1 have not aged well imo. Exorcist is great but not really a drinking film. I haven’t seen Friday the 13th in years but I remember he first wasn’t as fun as compared to the sequels.

>have not aged well
opinion discarded

MPAA was cracking down hard on horror movies and giving out X (now nc-17) ratings like free candy, independent films could avoid this but big studio-released movies like Friday that needed to make a lot of money had to suffer from censorship

>IT and NOES 1 have not aged well imo
Nightmare is fine and IT is corny as fuck but part 1 is still decent enough to watch.
