Reddit memes are actually caused by aids in the brain, so no, they're not random

>name one thing thats truly random
Why the PeNgUiN oF dOoM!!!1111 of course

how is radioactive decay random?

It posts on tumblr and shops at hot topic

Radioactive decay is a stochastic (i.e. random) process at the level of single atoms. According to quantum theory, it is impossible to predict when a particular atom will decay, regardless of how long the atom has existed.

>Name one thing thats truly random
My outbursts of nervous diarrhea.

Quantum Theory is full of shit. Its obvious that there is some state or quality we are imparting to the particles when we interact with them. Its not random we just dont understand what we are doing to them yet.

You mean you don't understand. You should really pick up a physics book and check your ramblings.

>it's full of shit because I don't understand it
Don't worry there are people much smarter than you that do.

"we don't know how it works therefore we know how it works"

this is why we make fun of "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE" retards like yourself

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell's_theorem

but devs applies deterministic explanation to qm

*holds up spork*

>gawd had a plan for everything
this is why we make fun of religitards like yourself

>name one thing that’s truly random
POTATOES!!!!!!! xD

So that chinese simp cuck finallly got to bone his little boy looking ex gf he just had to get his fingers broken by some good and live in fear of getting killed by some conspiracy was the pussy really that good?

>nothing is random lol
this is the kind of thing extremely retarded people say when they try to outsmart you

underrated

Name one genius that ain't crazy

Based and XD pilled

So what’s random?

anything you can't predict, because you don't have enough information on it for that

Okay, so from a human point of view an item can be random, but just because we can’t understand it. But from a universal objective view, nothing is random. I’m not OP but I’m curious to why people believe in the multiverse theory when no choices are random

More precisely en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspect's_experiment
I don't study physics and it's been a while since I read up on this but from what I remember, this proves that on the subatomic level there can be true random. Or in other words, even if we known every single parameter, we still can't predict the state of the particle without measuring it. This doesn't disprove causality though because no information is exchanged between the particles.
Quantum mechanics aren't bullshit, they're proven. But the interpretation of the formalism, how we understand the equations work in the real world, might be. There was a feud on that subject between Einstein and Bohr because Einstein believed in a completely deterministic universe. I think that's where the Schrodinger cat experiment comes from, to show how ridiculous quantum physics were understood.
pic related, i haven't watched the movie but the book is good.

>Genius

Einstein also believed in the Pilot Wave, he was a brainlet thief.

Hippy scientists love this shit because it can't be proved they are just uselessly sucking up grant money "studying" shit that can't be observed.

My favorite is when their models for gravity and what have you are completely fucked up on a universal scale, so they fill up the entirety of existence with undetectable spoopy ghost matter that will make the equations come out right.

Buncha fuckin' hoaxery for delicious tenure.

Ironically, it's actually you guys who don't know how it works and can't wrap your brain around a non-deterministic universe so you reject the science that suggests that causality is only something that exists as a result of observation.

The fact that mass in reality has very little to do with the amount of something there is (the layman's interpretation) or the energy levels a thing has (the "I've read some sci-fi and like sciency things, so now I'm a scientist) and everything to do with the probability of one thing to interact with another thing would blow your damn minds. Mass is defined around a measurement of "time" at the quantum level, for fuck's sake, but you
>SCIENCE IS SUCH BULLSHIT LMAO
dorks think anything other than a topical, intuitive description of reality has to be bullshit despite all of the evidence throughout history that shows every major breakthrough in mathematics and physics has largely been entirely non-intuitive discoveries that required people to complete ignore common wisdom and topical observations.

Pretty much all subatomic movement

That's why the location of an electron is a "probability" and not an actual location

jesus what a fucking dumb bitch

Okay, but string theory is literally a meme that's killing science.

>shows every major breakthrough in mathematics and physics has largely been entirely non-intuitive discoveries that required people to complete ignore common wisdom and topical observations.
Until all the Math is bad and it requires a nigh infinite amount of Dark Spaghetti Monster Matter.

>muh string theory
Oh boy, here we go, the one of the two along with dark matter scapegoats that every non-mathematician, non-physicist loves to bring up.
>HERES THE TWO FLAWS I FOUND THEM ITS ALL BASELESS ALL OF YOUR OTHER QT IS HORSESHIT BECAUSE OF THESE TWO WEAK EXAMPLES SCIENCE IS A MEME UNLESS ITS PURELY INTUITIVE

Holy shit, not even 10 seconds later lmao Do you guys coordinate this shit?

You're just saying words that noone can understand. It's like a chimpanzee pretending to sign

>>I WIN IM SMARTED THAN THIS BS SHOW SHUT IT DOWN
Spelling error.

Most of his beliefs in physics can be traced back to him being a spinozist. In spinozism, since the universe is God, and God is perfect then the universe must be deterministic, infinite/eternal and imutable.
Einstein was so into his metaphysical beliefs he didn't even believe in his own equations when they showed that the universe was expanding and had a beginning. To make for that he tried to add a constant to his equations to make the universe like he believed it was, which never worked. In the end he was proven wrong by the Hubble observations.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einstein_field_equations#The_cosmological_constant

>HERES THE TWO FLAWS I FOUND THEM ITS ALL BASELESS
It is all baseless. It's pure conjecture of phenomena that can't truly be observed and an elaborate mythos of theory built upon layers and layers of non-observed shit.
At the highest levels, I think it's like the priesthood, a way to have a comfortable living without getting your lily-white hands dirty building something of value or doing something mentally strenuous designing a new type of efficient power plant.

Instead you can lay about a University lab doing exciting new drugs and postulating about the secret magical life of the smurfs that live on planets made of elementary particles.

Feynman talks about that a bit in Surely You're Joking.
All these theoretical physicists think their fomulas are their babies and it gets personal when the data shows an inconsistency.

It's their bread-and-butter. You can't threaten their delicious grant money by pointing out that their mumbo-jumbo is really just mumbo-jumbo.
You weren't supposed to understand it enough to criticize it in the first place, let alone put it to the test. Hard science is a bitch like that though.

That's some killer assumptions you've got there, Mr. I'm-Supposed-To-Be-Smart-So-I-Take-Academia-As-A-Personal-Attack-When-It-Doesn't-Agree-With-Me.

Ironically, scientists of all kinds have absolutely no issue accepting that our descriptions are incomplete and that we need to continue working on things. The only people torn the fuck up about this are pseuds who can't handle that other people's ideas are taken seriously and theirs aren't.
>its all baseless
Please ignore the quantum probability calculators that are working literally right now. Please ignore all of the quantum experiments we've done and have real results to show from. Please, for the love of god, ignore all of the mathematically-sound hypothesis that we continue to support with physical experimentation all the time. It's baseless. ITS BASELESS DONT LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE ITS BASELESS NO ONE OBSERVED ANY OF IT AND THE MATH IS BULLSHIT BECAUSE I DONT WANT IT TO BE RIGHT

Bro. Come on. You're parroting the same worn-out anti-academia talking-points that have been used for literally centuries. I get it - you are intelligent and really want to be taken seriously without having to commit any serious effort to proving your points among a body of peers. But the rest of the people who've taken the time to battle it out and try to find truth among the conflict of personal interpretations don't give a shit that you're mad that you feel excluded despite the fact there's a literal open invitation.

If it's like that in hard science, imagine how much bullshit must be published in fields like psychology and sociology.

The Spanish Inquisition.

Based trips but the derivation and especially the meaning of Bells theorem is hard to grasp for even physics graduates. A brainlet on Yas Forums wont get it.

>knowing that pushing a rock makes it roll is theism
lol

you haven't read up on the issue, that's ok, just don't call others retarded because of your own lack of knowledge

Kek.

Thank god i went into biology

>equates radioactive decay to pushing a rock
this is your brain on religion

Dude, it's the same shit every time.
>lmao academics are just in it for personal gain
Yea, exactly, and then they get together and argue it out to suss out the truth. This has been happening for literally centuries - Leibnez and Newton thought they both were wrong about calculus only to discover they were arguing the inverse of each other.
>I NOTICED AN INCONSISTENCY SO NONE OF IT IS RIGHT EXCEPT WHAT AGREES WITH ME BEING CONTRARIAN
>invoke the name of our appropriated patron saint of anti-academia Feynman, ignore the fact that he lived in academia his entire life
If you people think Feynman would have support your ideas, you're nuts. He would have told you to get an education. His issue was with people like you, who ignored what was accepted to purport their personal interpretations as the only fact.

they have no idea how poor academics are and how much they hate how the grant system is set up. It's easier for them to just say academics are "in it for the money" for their lower middle class lifestyle than maybe consider that billionaires don't care about them

Dont waste time on people who claim physicists are in it for the money. There's literally so many other things that they could be doing with their time at less investment (or to those fucking retards, the "induction into the cult" or whatever) that would gain them far more profit.

I don't believe they're all in it for personal gains. Only very few actual have fame and make money. Most academicians make no money. But it's not hard to put in minimal hours to get out papers from time to time that no one will bother checking just to keep getting your salary. At least it is in fields like psychology.
Mathematicians that are in it for the money go work in finance or data science, they don't go for academia.

Physicists who are in for the money just graduate and then go work for Wall Street to help improve a trading algorithm 0.001% which then translates into more than the US spends on basic research post Cold War.

Holy shit based Feynman is considered antiacademian by these faggots? Are they nuts? That motherfucker invented the Feynman diagram and they think he's ANTIACADEMIA?

>they have no idea how poor academics are and how much they hate how the grant system is set up.
Most Pastors aren't wealthy mega-churchers either. But it's an easy living where you never have to pick up a shovel, turn a wrench or put in hard hours working on an engine design.

They are intellectual NEETs on grant welfare.

The roll of a dice

If they were saying
>academics are in it for the personal gratification
I would 100% agree. There are few things I have experienced that are as gratifying as actually proving something. It's nerdy as shit, but I get chills just doing simple calculus proofs for students. Even the people that are in it 100% for the pursuit of truth are pursuing that truth because it makes you feel alive like being in a mosh pit at a concert or making love or holding your children.
Every one in the sciences and academia understands how very personal it is. That's why colleges (an association of colleagues) and universities (an association of colleges) exist - so we can argue about the shit together, get our rocks off fighting about it, and at the end of the day we'll get some truth out of it from the competition of trying to prove each other wrong.

The unfortunately reality is that for-profit research absolutely has some people in it for the money. Grant chasing is about the money.
The irony is that none (zero, not even 1, the absence of value) of those people are in academia. They literally work in the private sector.

Psychology's problem isn't people publishing to keep their jobs at universities. Psychologies problem is part private sector, part conflict of interest with history. We don't want psychoanalysis to be right because it's "anti-human" and seemingly bullshit (the fuck is dream interpretation even besides mummery?), but psychoanalysis is also the only field without a ghastly reproducibility crisis. Psychoanalysis treats human beings like animals, but modern psychologists don't like that. They can't pursue the science because they can't accept that there's both an environmental AND a raw biological, genetic component to a person's psychology, and that's why their field struggles so much.

>Name one thing thats truly random
why, me of course

You can do that? I thought you had to be a yuppie to work on Wall Street. Do you need to sign some kind of Faustian "actually we own you and all your money" contract because that sounds like a great way to earn some funds for my precious tritium and blow up the city.

Feynman criticized shitty scientists. These dorks think all scientists are shitty, so they appropriate him as some kind of Anti-academic Saint, while ignoring the fact that Feynman was an academic's academic. It's the same way racist people laud the one or two black people saying slavery was probably okay.

>Bro. Come on
>Dude
The absolute state of this.
It's an unfortunate fact that the best minds go into finance and silicon valley. Academia is mostly a wasteland of midwits & women producing mediocre work.

Psychology (and sociology) is also difficult because so much of it is observational and not experimental (for obvious reasons). It's really hard to account for the variance in human minds, let alone culture, while trying to design some study or analysis.

>Name one thing thats truly random
why, my peenus weanus of course :)

hahah! :D

it's my weeeeeenus peanus! :) hahah

I personally suspect that all the theorizing about dark matter/energy is an elaborate case of cognitive dissonance that evolved out of a refusal to accept that not even relativity is perfect. I believe it’s a step closer, an upgrade from Newtonian mechanics, but still incomplete. I believe that we have an imperfect understanding of the nature of space and keep making up ever more elaborate explanations for it to make it conform with our scientific understanding, not vice versa. In short, I believe we’re clinging to an outmoded paradigm.

I believe dark matter/energy are just ways of us explaining aspects of space our models did not account for, and that is that spacetime is less like an elastic sheet and more like an air mattress, and that as the arrows of space lengthen the arrow of time shortens, not in the sense of time ending, but in the sense of the passage of it slowing.

>OH NO HE USED COLLOQUIAL LANGUAGE IN A JOKING MANNER ON AN IMAGE BOARD WHERE THE CONTEXT IS APPROPRIATE HES GOT TO BE STUPID AND A MIDWIT AND A PSEUD REEEEEEEEE
ishiggydiggy broham come on senpai like rlly?

Is Devs good? It seemed like it would be up my alley but after 2 episodes it just seems to ape the pseudo-deep stuff I usually like, making it two layers of pseud.

>mommy why dont other people have to use their shovels? It's not fair!
Lmao. Literal slave mentality. Let's not dwell on the 15 or so years of your life you have to spend learning mathematics that your feeble brain cant even begin to comprehend. I bet you've never even heard of a complex number you faggot. But sure thing reading the bible once in a while is exactly the same level of commitment.
