As a brainlet with a confirmed IQ of 93 I can confirm this.

Its pretty good but it suffers from a lot of segments which drag out too long for no reason. Watching a character sort out boxes or fix something menial for 5-10 minutes each episode, goes beyond dramatic effect in bcs.
Breaking Bad is a lot tighter in this regard and the big happenings there had a lot more emotional impact.
The first couple of seasons felt like they were carried by the drug war subplot with boring Jim and Chuck interludes, and it still feels like the stronger storyline at times by season 5.

This isn't floundering lol. The hype of BrBa in its final season meant it had a very inflated fanbase. These new fans thought BCS would be more of the same and it wasn't. Season 1 had more fan service then the rest which explains the drop in viewership.

This might have been true for the first 2 or so seasons but by the end it was done by committee with certain individuals having more input than others. BCS is ran the same way.
