I kind of don't get people who say they don't like it

I get that it's a bit of a change in setting and characters but it's so good. Frank Sobotka is a Shakespearean tragic character. All he wanted was a good life for his employees

it filters libertarians

youtube.com/watch?v=DozVdtbMuM8

david simon used to have a good twitter account before he starting trying way too hard with le epic wordy takedowns and shilling for elizabeth warren

it just changed settings for no reason

S1 was pretty good so everyone felt cheated when it became about docks, it wasn't bad per se but felt more like a spinoff than anything else

Without a doubt.

On Yas Forums? No, Yas Forums consistently ranks it as the best, if not the second best, season.
1 = 2 > 4 > 3 >>> 5

I get why people wouldn't like it

David is a faggot Jew both literally and figuratively but by god if I don’t love everything he touches

I don’t get the hate. They still went back to the ghetto, Stringer, Avon and Deangelo we’re still around.

season 5 is the bigger pleb filter

Frank would have voted for Trump

I didn't like it at first, but after Yas Forums told me what to think it became my favorite season.

The story of season 2 is undoubtedly tied to the rest of the show though. Most of the major crimes characters are still in prominent roles and the Greeks pop up in every single season. You start to forget McNulty even got put on the boat because he’s still doing work for the unit

In addition to change in characters and scenery it's a pretty slow build which makes it harder to get into.

But it's probably the best season of tv ever made.

Ziggy is unironically one of the best characters in the show
he's so real

Proper list. Season 5 isn’t that bad though honestly imo it just didn’t meet the high standard of the rest of the show

Most overrated season: 2
Most underrated season: 4
Most correctly rated season: 5

Among the show it's not even close, it's really hard to think characters from any show who are better than Ziggy. Livia gets close but only close.

Merchant Marine here
Dockworkers can suck my ass, literally a step away from line handlers in incompetence

2>3>4>1>5 and 5 is still a great season.

The scene when efuge plays and Frank goes to get himself killed is easily the top 3 scenes in the series

Based.

Is it a coincidence that the more ghetto murders a season of Wire has, the more popular it is?

Down in the Hole power ranking:

1>4>5>3>2

Season 4 is consistently the highest rated season, you fucking newfag cancer.

Weird that there's an arabic song with the exact same melody. I wonder which is the original.

Greeks are basically Turks

literally not one person in this thread has said it's the best season

as happens in every thread

which you'd know if you ever posted in a wire thread

2 > 3 > 1 > 4 > 5

yea, they definitely tied everything together and I wish greeks had more impact but that's about it, that season could not exist and the show would be almost the same

Season 1 is the best because it's The Wire in it's true form. The Wire's SOUL, the barebones formula, the very essence of why the show as a whole is good in the first place.
Season 1 should be at the top of everyone's ranking.

this but unironically
i still secretly cherish s04 as its best though

in what possible way, that they think its based as fuck?

He's half right. Yas Forums usually puts 2 as the best, while the rest of the internet puts 4 at the top.

youtube.com/watch?v=ZGoPgWIxjpk

Season 2 was crude unfiltered kino.

I rank the seasons essentially in the order they were released.

4 is extremely overrated.

s2>s1>s5>s4>s3

there's always one of you idiots
overrated is not and never will be a valid criticism

those tits though

Season 2 seems like something that libertarians would like because it shows unionized blue collar workers in a very bad light.

Damn, I had forgotten how good that shit was.

you fags only say so because want his dong

I mean I guess you’re right but the season is still great tv so I don’t understand the complaint? Would the show work without it? Yes. But why is it so important that every single thing be “necessary”? I think it’s a weird way to look at art but a lot of people here do

unironically the best character

>topic is ranking seasons
>whether something is overrated or not isn't valid
okay retard

watch a season of niggas getting blasted
next season is about some incel crackers and boats
?????????

s2 was fine but felt like another series, that's about it

>tfw work out of norfolk

suck a dick mainefags

every bit of dialogue in this show is so tight

>I FEEL ALRIIIIIIIIIGHT, I FEEL ALRIGHT TONIIIIGHT!
Best ending montage, fuck you fight me.

Season 2 was a bold divergence from the standard street crime genre on which the Wire was built. Baltimore police deal with a lot more than drug dealers and homicides. The corruption of the dock workers and their connection to a mob was different but refreshing. Sobotka was one of, if not the most complex characters in the show.

Had S2 been better received, the show might have been able to expand its horizons on the different areas of Baltimore that involve Major Crimes. Instead, it went right back to the Barksdale organization in S3.

I agree with your list entirely, but when people ask I lie and say 2 is my favorite because I love Tom Waits so much...

The Wire is explicitly not a straight crime show though and David Simon and Ed Burns have made this very clear in talking about it. If you expected the show to be about the hood the entire time I really don’t think you understand the core concept of The Wire. Which is that everyone is tied to their city institution and ultimately compromised by it. It was supposed to be different to illustrate that class struggles and economic suffering weren’t exclusive to the hood and affected all different types of people

Ziggy reminder me of myself.

>when he's in his office or squadroom he's either always eating or looking at porn

You're almost there. Season 2 is what took the show to another level, season 1 it was just a better than average cop show.

s2>s1>s4>s3>s5

I hate to say it but I feel the same way

Made me stop watching. Does it get better?

Me too except I'm middle class and meek and also unemployed and also ugly and also have only a tiny 6 incher but we're still the same because he's a loser like me only i'm more of a loser so really i'm more ziggy than he was himself

based I live down the road from the international terminal
you guys must be pretty slow, trains aren't blocking the intersections like they used a couple months ago

the show itself is a pleb filter these days.

6 inches is the average man don’t let anyone on this site tell you otherwose

The moment it shifts to the docks and turns the drug dealer plot into a secondary story, you should realize what the show is really about.

Wrong season 2

Did you guys think the 9/11 parallels in s3 were kino or cringe?
