The idea was to create a composite experience for what it would have been like for the average British soldier on the western front. The first hand accounts work really fucking well imo, they compliment what each other is saying and of course what is being shown on screen, so you get a singular representation of the trenches out of dozens of overlapping accounts. I have watched this film about 20 times, I recommend that you watch it again this time knowing what to expect. I want you to like this film. Also, you can listen to the full interviews on the imperial war museum website. I'm sorry I told you to kys and called you a pleb.
