It Follows was good because instead of constant shocks and jumpscares and monsters or clowns or whatever it just triggered your most basic animal fear of being pursued by a predator. It's almost like the ghost (or whatever it is) is death itself. Just always coming for you no matter what you do or where you go. Makes you feel like a Grug out in the bush with a tiger coming after you.
