I remember it, I think I recall it being this big TV event too, all hyped up and shit. I remember watching it with my brother and my dad the night it aired.

I was kind of confused because I thought it was a documentary, but it turned out to be more of a fantasy-fiction thing, which was cool and all but not what I expected.

I wish I knew some other really good space documentary stuff, the only one I really remember being super high quality was that one narrated by Alec Baldwin.

I remember The Future Is Wild, where these “scientists” tried to predict how life would evolve in the distant future. They had octopi swinging from trees like monkies. LOL

Anyone who understands basic genetics and evolutionary biology could tell you that it's impossible to predict what environmental and sexual selection pressures any given species will find themselves exposed to in the future, and what random mutations might get propagated in that context.

Could tree-octopi exist? I dunno, maybe? Seems unlikely considering an octopus body isn't designed for suspending it's body weight and creating momentum, they don't have the complex muscles or bone structure to shift their mass around to create lift and momentum like a monkey or a person can. But it doesn't seem entirely unlikely that if fish can develop lungs to live on land, cephalopods could too and if they did it's believable that they might climb trees for shelter in the same way snakes do considering they move a lot like snakes as it is.

If it helps them survive and breed, it works, and that's all nature cares about.

I get the impression they wanted to make a hard science fiction film and this fake documentary was the only way they could.
