If he was given a real budget by a studio to make the movie he's always wanted to make without hiding behind irony or vulgarity to deflect criticism like he usually does, could he pull it off?

obviously not
No, he is mediocre bitter remorse personified. The worst film that he has reviewed will be remembered longer than him.
I don't think Things will be remembered for that long
He seems to me like more of an analytical thinker instead of an open and creative one. So it's highly unlikely.
Being a good critic doesn't make you good at the subject.
Jesus christ no.
Space Cop was absolute trash.
Pic related would say exactly that and he wouldn't be wrong to do so.
write a star trek script mike, you have nothing to lose but your integr--- your pri------ just write one to prove people wrong that you couldn't do it?
Actually directing or producing expensive movies is an incredibly difficult job, even good ideas still come out bad, and he doesn’t have the mental capacity to work on something with several hundred people’s jobs depending on him. The RLM guys got to where a few people depended on the money and they immediately turned to Reddit.
no
in all reality, if they don't submit to jews, they should just make a tng fanfic w/o calling it star trek like based seth.
no obvious jokes, that's what made tng work, actors implying jokes.
What has Mike ever analyzed besides plot points?
>to make a film
but he's a comedian
you're giving him writing, directing, or both? kind of asinine to put a whole hollywood production on the shoulders of one goofball indie filmmaker. he could only do it if rich was helping. hes the brains of the operation.
Has any film reviewer gone on to be a great creative?
This faggot would just write not!Trek fanfiction where "Ensign Kloklasa" saves the day and saves the strong black space princess with his funny gay sidekick "Ray Rauman".
>has any bus scheduler gone on to drive a bus deftly?
its unrelated
>Rich is the brains
Oh dear.
so you're saying it would be the hit show the Orville
Craig Zahler.
>hit show
>Orville
I can guarantee you that despite dreaming of becoming a filmmaker for like 20 years, Mike doesn't have a single finished screenplay lying around, or even a polished concept for a movie, and has probably never even read a single book on filmmaking.
He's the sort of dude that is still waiting for Hollywood to hand him a bag of money before he starts putting effort into filmmaking, which he assumes he'll just be naturally good at, because if he can tell a bad movie is bad, he knows how to make a good one, right?
If you're from a shitty town you've met dozens of guys like Mike. They're smart but they don't understand the concept of effort, probably because they were smart enough to never have to try at school or whatever, and to this day they assume this is just a character trait of them.
He was a filmmaker before he was a critic.
At this point, they're exist as with their own kind of literary standard. Ebert will be remembered and his reviews are pretty timeless, given that he's referenced even in wikipedia articles of films consistently. And same with his show with Siskel. But people like Ebert because he had some critical writing skills and was witty.
The same with RLM. They've created their own TV show, in effect. Especially with Best of the Worst. In some cases, with better viewership than network television. This genre is hardly new, it's just now the focus is on the personalities. Most local TV stations had some character who introduced B movies.
Ebert wasn't that good of a critic.
He was never a filmmaker
To play devil's advocate for the retarded OP, Mike is a filmmaker and a critic. It's not like he's just writing a blog, all of his reviews have short films in them.
Then why isn't he better at it?
>all of his reviews have short films in them.

Personally, I think Jay is the only person on their team with the drive and the smarts to make real movies, although they would suck ass
Yes. You forget that he directed this kino: youtube.com
Yes he was, but he failed at it and bevame a wedding vidiographer.
Meh, he's fine for short comedic skits. Space Cop was trash, should have been 15 minutes at most.
Go back.
Godard and Truffaut
Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, Claude Chabrol, Jacques Rivette, Éric Rohmer
You managed to remember it, user.
he isn't fine tho retard, your dismissal is meaningless.
As garbage as space cop was with a more substantial budget and if his goal was something to be taken way more seriously I believe he has the brains to pull something off
>he wouldn't be wrong to do so.
he absolutely would.
Best of the Worst is a well made show, for what it is, and functions far better than any of its equivalents in regular TV.
Two dissinterested fags tepidly summarizing Marvel movies is't as groundbreaking as you think it is, user.
he hides behind irony because he knows he cant.
I agree.
Network TV is dying medium.
Technically James Rolfe's "reviews" are skits. He's less interested in reviewing than creating a character/mythos.
*a
I'm drowsy!
But that's not Best of the Worst. That's Half in the Bag.
He was a good-looking man in his youth
But he made a film? Space Cop, have you heard of it
Mike would be the perfect Disney director. He just wants to watch crowd pleasing fluff and stick to formula.
You can read as many film theory books as you want but the creative aspects of filmmaking are inherent. You can learn how to use Final Cut but that doesn't make you a good editor
This is midwit wisdom, and the reason guys like you never achieve anything. You think practice and learning are pointless, but when you realize you don't have the innate talent you believe in, you stop trying altogether to protect your ego. This is exactly where Mike and Jay are right now, emotionally.
....no
better for him to just go do SNL instead
No, but I think he could be a competent writer for Star Trek
no. he doesn't seem to like working with anyone outside he's sycophantic close circle and he'd be shoehorning into too much of his esoteric humour that suits his minor internet reviewing shows but not a wider audience unfamiliar with it
He is a creative thinker, maybe not to your standards, but he is. He created Mr. Plinkett, for example, and for what its worth.
I feel assaulted
This actually is the obvious thing for them to do. Imagine a half in the bag skit, but with an actual star trek philosophical story line beneath it
Youre actually both right
jfc you're describing me
Hes describing a lot of people. You should take a minimal effort at least to accomplish your goals. If you wanna write a screenplay write 250 words a day.
