Every time this image is posted I open it and look at Bradley. I know what it's going to be, every time, the despondent Roy Kinnear. I know it, but I can't stop checking.

I'd say it won't be as impactul if you didn't follow 8 and Charley's growing relationship, but it's your choice.
At the very least listen to Neverland, the story that comes right before Zagreus.
Would be great if you listened to Scherzo afterwards as well

12th Doctor was supposed to have painted the portrait from a previous cycle, I think. There was a second clue behind the portrait that 12 never found because he never wanted to move it.

he did most clues/rooms reset a few didn't, like where the painting and his clothes were

1) 12 painted it himself. In the first cycle he was completely lost and spent months in the castle with no idea of what to do. The painting was supposed to focus his mind on the goal.
The episode doesn't show this explicitly, but it leaves a lot of interesting things for interpretation. I myself thought the time lords put the painting there to taunt him, but he used it to motivate him.
2) He does it every time, along with writing BIRD and the other shit. It's the clues to get him going.

Hartnell, Hurndall and Bradley each play a different first Doctor from a different parallel universe. Whittaker takes place in the Bradley timeline not the prime Hartnell timeline so we can sweep this all under the rug in a few years

listen to the torchwood audios, they are great and feel just like a better version of the show overall.
