Necrons skeletal appear quite human like and there was some theory ages ago that the last old ones may have made humans, so it isn't far fetched that's a necron planet considering the sphere seems to be made of self-regenerating metal and that necrons used to be able to phase out of reality and back into their tomb worlds for repairs (though I don't think this is canon anymore).
