Pretty much this. People who misguidedly think the show is more based in reality than other TV overrate the fuck out of the show as some example of serious fiction when it actually has poorer writing than say game of thrones on more than one occasion.

Sopranos > True Blood > dogshit > Mad Men

First few seasons were kino. But around mid way through it got boring and stale.

Not worth it. The show becomes less tightly written as it goes and turns straight into bland after the Suicide of a certain character.

It isn't bad, just okay. The other shows were so terrible at the time that it was elevated.

The first season is the best television I have ever watched.

californication did this for 7 seasons. it became comical how karen would show up whenever any crazy shenanigans were going down and it'd be that same stupid look of disapproval and hank's bitch ass had to go explain himself and be scolded like a child. i liked her at first but after a couple seasons i hated her for being a constant drag on the action and holding hank back as a character. then by extension i had contempt for hank for being hung up on her. i wouldn't have watched past the first couple seasons if i hadn't been on deployment with nothing else to do

its pretty good imo, worth the binge watch especially with quarantine

Yes, it's a great show. Get yourself a bottle of scotch or whiskey, pour a glass over some ice, put on Mad Men and just sip and watch.

the AMC nudity and lack of swearing make it 8/10. could've been 9.5/10

Its the greatest show ever made, but if you can't handle that it's about rich people's mundane family and business problems and never features any murders or explosions then you won't enjoy it.

its not really satirical its more of a cross examination of the time period and peoples reactions to it as well as their lifestyles within it. satire would be more exaggerated i think
